CHAPTER TWENTY.

 If you ask around the pack; ' who's the happiest wolf around?', their answer will undoubtedly be; 'Head Alpha Rhaegal! '.

Ever since that incident at the nightclub, Lucien has been less distant.

 He doesn't complain when I hug him, though he draws the line there. He actually let me hold his hand whenever we're walking around pack grounds and he even told me stories about the omegas back at his old pack.

 That's the only time I get to see him smile so brightly.

I know he must be missing them so much and if it was left to me, i would have gone to save them. Though Lucien seemed like he was fine but I know how anxious he is. No one knows the ordeal those omegas are going through now that Lucien left.

 But nonetheless, my life has been nothing but sunshine and rainbows. Roses and champagne. A beautiful paradise... Nothing can ruin-

" Head Alpha Conrad is visiting our pack in two days."

" What?! " I sprang up from my seat " You're just telling me that now? Why's he coming over? Our packs have no business or dealings with each other."

" Apparently, he lost his mate a few months ago during a rogue attack." Adrian massaged his temple " Both he and Alpha Conner of Blood moon pack were travelling at the beginning of winter, couple months back.

" They were attacked by rouges and got separated from their mates. Since the only possible direction they could have gone was north, they've searched the other pack and only ours is left."

" I'm not letting those two on my pack grounds." I growled.

" But Rhaegal....." Adrian frowned " You don't think those mates of theirs are...."

" Lucien and Xavier? " I finished his words with a frown.

" The time frame, story and condition do align with each other. " he pondered " Those two Alphas are in the same category as Nicolas. Xavier refuse to say anything since his brother asked him not to but, I'm sure of my theory."

" All the more reason to keep them out of my territory." I grumbled " I don't care about the deal they had with Nicolas, those two are our mates now."

" We have no choice but to let them come. If they don't find who they're searching for, they'll leave. If we try to keep them away, they might use it as an excuse to instigate a war, claiming we took their mates from them.

" It doesn't matter what we say then, the other packs will turn a blind eye and deaf ear to our explanation and join forces to attack us."

" That's not gonna happen. "

" Then let them come Rhaegal." he tried to convince me " We'll inform our mates beforehand and have them stay out of sight. it's just for a few couple hours. "

" Fine. " I caved in " But don't tell them. "

" Why?"

" Are you kidding?" I scoffed " If Lucien finds out that the person he ran away from is coming for him and his brother, what do you think he'll do?"

" Run."

" Finally on the same page." I smiled.

" Oh Rhaegal, one more thing.... "

" What?"

" Alpha Colton called off the agreement between our packs." I frowned immediately "I think this has to to with you breaking off your engagement with Nova."

 I felt a headache coming on. I knew he was going to retaliate against me but I never thought he'll go as far as calling off the newly signed treaty!

" One problem at a time." I groaned " Once we resolve the upcoming issue in two days, I'll contact father and try to come up with a remedy."

" Alright. "

 Two days later.....

 Due to Anastasia's constant cries and gossip, a lot of parents begged Mom to let Lucien work at the pack school.

 Reason being, after seeing Lucien that one time he dropped off Anastasia, they've been crying and nagging the teachers and their parents, forcing them to approach mom.

 Lucien agreed but he dragged Xavier with him.

 He's a natural with kids. I rarely see him smile but whenever he's kids, he's practically glowing. It's even more common to see him smile whenever he's around omegas, especially male omegas.

Probably due to the fact that he was in charge of taking care of them back at the old pack, he's always happy around omegas.

Anyway..... today's the day Conrad and Conner are 'visiting' the pack. I still didn't say a word about it to Lucien nor Xavier and Adrian was even more unwilling to say anything.

Like Adrian said, it's only for a couple of hours. They'll be gone before school ends so they won't be able to find the two brothers.

 Standing at the border, I watched their escort approach with a cold gaze.

" Alpha Rhaegal." Conner stepped out of the car with a smile.

" Alpha Conner." I replied in a dry tone.

" Hahaha! Still so formal I see." he laughed as Conrad joined him while nodding at me.

" I believe I was clear about the matter of your mates but clearly, you both have trust issues." I went straight to the point " Each of your warriors will be escorted by one of mine. They're places you'll be restricted from searching and you all have no more than three hours for that."

" No problem." Conrad replied.

 We walked back to the pack grounds as Dylan stared assigning warriors to the two Alphas' escorts.

 After making sure nothing was gonna go wrong, I led them to my office. They still have about an hour and a half left.

" Ah that's right!" Conner suddenly exclaimed as we sat down " I heard you both found your mates. Congratulations."

" Congrats. " Conrad chipped in.

" Thanks. " Adrian and I said.

 We all sank into silence after that, our warriors mind linking us and giving reports.

 Suddenly, Conrad shot up from his seat and bolted out the door. Adrian and I exchanged looks before running after him, Conner not far behind.

 Upon noticing the direction Conrad was heading, my heart seized with terror.

The school grounds were one of the restricted places and both Milo and Jace were guarding the surrounding.

 Though we hid the situation from Lucien and Xavier, the guys, excluding Eric, were aware of it. It was necessary to tell them since they were the pack warriors.

" I said.... Back. The. Fuck. Up!" my brain shut down when I heard that furious and familiar voice.

 We all ran towards the source of the voice, only to stop dead in our tracks as a man was thrown out of the corner, blood flowing freely from his mouth as he fell to the ground.

 Lucien walked out from the corner with a shaking figure, an inferno, blazing in his eyes.

Fuck!
