CHAPTER EIGHT.

I threw my head back as I stared into nothing, absorbed, and invested in my inner thoughts.

I've been trying to get a particular image out of my head for the past few days.

Lucien has been living at the park house with his brother and according to the others, he's a bit cold and detached, but he's always lending them a helping hand and he treats them fair. And even though he barely talks to the others, he never ignores the omegas even if they pester him all day long.

My pack members have been very curious about him, so I outrightly told them he was from Nicolas' pack but now he and his brother are one of our own. I wasn't surprised when they accepted him with ease cause to be sincere, 30% of the people in this pack are either, strays we saved from the woods or wolves we rescued from other packs.

Dark Moon Pack isn't the only pack that ravel in the act of using their omegas for sex. I've had my suspicions about that pack for a long time, but I never had someone to help clarify.... Until he came.

Lucien... I can't get his images out of my head. His mismatched eyes, his long silver hair and his cold gaze that seems to contain a bit of hatred and fear. I knew where those emotions came from and for some reason, it bothered me a lot.

Thinking about him being touched by others, filled me up with uncontrollably anger. I tried not to imagine the scene even though something tells me It's just me being paranoid.

I don't know why I care so much about him, I shouldn't. Furthermore, I have a mate, though not my true mate, but we'll be engaged by February. I can't be preoccupied with the thoughts of another.

I sighed for the tenth time this morning and spoke to my wolf instead.

" Hey Rhys. Quick question."

' I'm not sure about it yet cause he doesn't have a wolf yet, but it might be possible.' he replied without me asking.

" I should have mom check him. It might cause him problems in the future."

' You've been worried about him for days now, and I can feel your emotions Rhaegal. You like the omega.'

" Tha... that's not possible." I refuted " I don't even know him, so how can I? Besides, we already have a mate."

' That omega you want to get married to is not my mate!' he growled at me.

" Don't be like that Rhys." I sighed " Mom and dad gave us plenty of chances but we still couldn't find our mate. I have a responsibility and i can't let my pack down. Besides, ' that omega' happens to be the only child of Alpha Colton. Our pack is second to his and I don't need to tell you how important their alliance is to us."

' If Lucien turns out to be our mate, you're ditching that omega! End of discussion!' he blocked me straight up.

I sighed again. Rhys is just like Lucien, quiet and reserved. But when he decides on something, nothing can bring him to change his mind. We've been fighting a lot ever since the day mom announced to the pack that I was to find an omega to mate with since I couldn't find my own mate.

I pick up my phone and dialed a number. He's the only one I can talk to about this.

" Yo what's up!" Adrian yelled from the other side.

" Aren't you done yet? Your Alpha AKA I, need you back at the pack ASAP."

" Is something up?" he suddenly turned serious.

" Nothing much. Mom's asking when you'll be back."

" Christmas Eve. I should be back by morning."

" Alright. I'll tell you when you get here."

I cut the call and tossed the phone aside. I've always talked to Adrian whenever I felt conflicted, but for some reason, I couldn't bring myself to say anything this time. I guess I didn't want him cutting his vacation short and leaving his parents behind to come attend to an Alpha with conflicted emotions.

it's finally Christmas Eve and I finally got to see Lucien again. He sat in a corner of the room while reading a novel. Anastasia was sprawled out beside him and they both look lovely.

Especially Lucien. The omegas were hellbent on helping him braid his hair and he couldn't refuse them. He had a braid on both side of cheek. A half ponytail rested atop his head as it was adorned with small trinkets I'm sure belongs to Anna.

I have to admit, my sister was right. He does look like a fairy. A very pretty one too.

I shook my head and refilled my glass with punch. Mom forbade us from touching any alcohol this year so this is the best we got.

It's almost evening and Adrian should be back soon. I really need someone to talk to. The pack house was filled to the brim as they all ate and drank.

The door suddenly flew open and a confused and panicked Adrian rushed in. His eyes were glowing red unlike their usual brown as he scanned the room. His wolf was in control!

I shot up from my seat and approached him as the room fell silent and they were all scared to approach him themselves.

"Hey buddy what's up?" I held his shoulder.

"Get the fuck out of my way!"

" Calm down Adrian." I held him back " What's going on? Why's Jax in control?"

" MATE!" my brain shut down.

Hold the fuck! Mate? His mate's here? That's impossible! We don't have any guests just....

My eyes widen as realization dawned on me. Adrian idn't wait for my next word before crossing the room in large strides and approaching a stunned Xavier.

" He's my mate." his words rang across the room.

Xavier is Adrian's mate? This is going to get bloody real quick. Like a psych I was, I saw Xavier retreat in fear. Despite the mate pull, he didn't give in.

" Back the fuck up!" a cold voice transmitted through the room.

We all turned towards an angry Lucien who walked past Adrian and shielded his brother.

" He's my mate-"

" I heard you the first time Beta, I'm not deaf." he shunned " Mate or not, stay the fuck away from him."

Like I said, this isn't gonna end well. Where's that mother of mine when you need her?!

" What's going on here?" Ah thank Goddess!

Mom walked into the pack house and approached the three wolves. Lucien looked like he was ready to go toe to toe with Adrian. I don't doubt his ability cause if not for his looks, you wouldn't know he was an omega.

" Tell your Beta to stay away from my brother." Lucien seethed.

" Stay away from him?" Adrian was starting to lose his cool " He's my mate! Mine!"

" Calm down you two!" Mom turned to Adrian

" Control Jax."

Adrian complied and his eye color returned to normal but he was still livid from Lucien's confrontation.

" Xavier. Come here."

Xavier timidly walked towards mom, but Lucien grabbed his hand and yanked him back.

" Are you stupid? She'll hand you over to him." he growled.

" Lucien you can't speak for your brother." mom sighed " Once a wolf finds his mate, they are bound to be together."

" Not if I have anything to do about it." he gaze turned cold.

" I don't think you understand." Mom gazed into his eyes " if he rejects him or try to stay away from him, both their wolves will die and even they won't survive for too long before meeting the Moon Goddess."

I saw his eye widen with surprise before turning to one of anguish.
