CHAPTER THIRTEEN.

 I could have sworn I told Nyx not to celebrate anything. I could have sworn i yelled at the top of my lungs and told them not to. So imagine how dumbfounded I was when I came downstairs for crossover night, and found the whole place decorated for new year and someone's birthday.

 I don't enjoy my birthdays so i usually stay cooped up in the omega hostel. The omegas never succeed in convincing me to join them so they usually drag over a convinced Alexia instead.

 She'll always find ways to convince me to leave my post and secretly celebrate my birthday with the omegas, without the knowledge of the other pack members.

 I've being staying here a little over a month, and everything is a bit overwhelming. Everyone's way too nice, and open-minded, I find it even harder to stay around them. Not that I like being around people that much to begin with.

In my time of being here, I saw a different side of the world I never knew existed. There's equality amongst every wolf, it's the perfect place for Xavier.

 I didn't plan on escaping from that hellhole because of my well-being. I wanted Xavier to live a happy life and he seems happy more than ever, now that he has Beta Adrian by his side. I'm contented with things as it is. Everything's going well for him and I.....

 " Ten seconds left!" someone shouted in the living room.

" 9.... 8.... 7.... 6.... 5.... 4.... 3.... 2.... 1... HAPPY NEW YEAR! "

Two figures, one big, one small, suddenly jumped on me the moment the clock struck 12.

" Happy birthday Lucie!" Xavier and Anna yelled.

 I stumbled a bit but I quickly regained my footing and held the two while smiling.

" Thank you."

  All of a sudden, the lights went off. A flicker of light shone from the kitchen doorway and caught my attention as Nyx walked out with a huge cake and nineteen colorful candles, neatly arranged on it.

 _Bang!

  The room suddenly exploded into a series of glitters and confetti.

 " HAPPY BIRTHDAY LUCIEN!!!" Everyone chorused and clapped while laughing.

  I couldn't help but laugh with them. It was a bit funny as to how nice they all were. I didn't realize the room had gone quiet until I stopped laughing.

" What?" I raised an eyebrow.

" You should smile and laugh more Lucien, you look even more pretty when you do." Eric said.

 I cleared my throat and turned my head away to focus on the cake when my eyes caught sight of someone.

  'The future Luna' of Silver Crescent Moon Pack was standing at the back of the crowd with hatred and resentment, blazing in her eyes.

 I shot her a nonchalant look before lowering my head and blowing out the candles. A series of loud applause and cheers erupted immediately, as almost everyone came forward with wrapped presents.

  I couldn't hold them all so Nyx took over. I kept thanking everyone, my jaws were about to fall off. After cutting the cake and getting everyone a slice, we moved the party to the yard.

 Xavier ran off to find his mate while I sat with Anna and Nyx. The sky rippled with fireworks as the wolves sat with their mates while others danced with each other.

 I saw Derek hugging Eric from the back with a contented smile, while Maya held May. Everyone looked happy and for some reason, I felt happy too.

" Lucien." Nyx called my name but she was staring at the others " Can I ask you something? It's a bit personal but I've been wanting to ask for a while. It's your decision to tell though."

" What is it?"

" The scars on your body. Though you've healed already, the scars will probably never fade." she still didn't face me " I just wanted to ask how you got so many scars. They look deep and painful."

 Silence reigned between us and only the sound of laughter and fireworks could be heard. I shifted my gaze towards Anna who seemed exhausted and was already dozing off. After adjusting her properly in my hands, I replied to Nyx.

" The omegas are always targeted by the pack members back at Dark Moon. They can't defend themselves so I took it upon myself to do that. The stronger I got, the bigger a pest I became to them. I'm even strong enough to take on a beta." I laughed.

" But Alpha Nicolas, he hated it, he hated me. He said I was the reason he lost his mate during that attack. He blamed it on us omegas, and decided to use our bodies as a form of repayment. It was hard, trying to keep everyone safe.

" On many occasions where I get into a scuffle with a Delta or Beta, I always ended up getting punished. I could never let the omegas get beaten and everyone in the pack is aware of that. I would never let them take me so I was even more unwilling to let the omegas go through that.

" During the punishment, I get tied up really tight, like someone who's about to be crucified. I never told any of them this but, it was always painful. I try not to show any weakness but even a Beta finds it hard to stand after the tenth strike.

" It was always a different object everytime. My wounds never get to heal and my scars never fade before I got new ones. But i don't regret it.

" The only thing I regret is leaving them behind in that hellhole while leaving peaceful in another pack."

 " Lucien." Nyx turned towards me this time with a small smile " You did everything you could to protect them and you made that tough decision at the young age of ten. You shouldn't have any regrets cause I'm sure if they knew about it, they'll probably be mad at you. This won't go on forever, I promise. We won't leave them hanging."

" You mean-"

" Yes. That's what Rhaegal has been busy planning for years now." she stroked my hair as she speak " It might take some time but we'll get them out. We'll do that to every omega suffering in their packs."

 I couldn't help myself, as a tear escaped my eyes. I was nothing but a stranger and yet they were willing to take me in. Despite the bad blood between our packs, Beta Adrian was ready to go toe to toe with me for Xavier. He accepted Xavier and showered him with love and affection.

 " Oh dear." Nyx wiped my tears away " Why are you crying?"

" Thank you." I said " I really-" my words were cut off by a sharp pain in my lower abdomen.

 I fell off the chair I was sitting on but I made sure I held Anastasia tightly. A new wave of pain coursed through me and another followed right after.

" Lucien!" the fireworks had died down and Nyx voice could be heard across the yard, attracting everyone's attention.

" Ta...take Anna." I passed an awake Anastasia to her as I clutched my stomach and knelt down.

  Fuck! I'm going into heat! I can't believe this is happening to me now of all time!
