CHAPTER NINETEEN.

 I gripped my arm tight as I listened to the constant sound of fleshing hitting flesh. Xavier had squeezed his way through and was acting as emotional support.

It was rather exaggerated on his part and for some reason, I was extremely anxious to know that Head Alpha Rhaegal was fighting against five other wolves even though he had Derek with him.

 Despite telling us to return to the room, I disregarded his words and glued my foot to the restroom entrance and the others were the same.

 Soon, the door flew open as Head Alpha Rhaegal walked out with Derek. His gaze was hard and the aura around him caused me to subconsciously back up three steps.

He noticed my little movement and snapped his head towards me. I could smell the faint scent of blood and he was trying to rein in his murderous aura but I still caught on to it.

 Head Alpha Rhaegal walked up to me and seemed like he had something to say but suddenly froze up.

 His gaze darkened as he stared straight into my eyes with anger and frustration.

" Wh.....what?"

" You're unbelievable!" he gritted out before dragging me away.

 I had zero idea why he was mad at me but I knew saying anything at this point will only worsen the case so I just followed behind him and tried to keep up.

We walked towards the fifth floor and into the hallway. He kicked open one of the doors and dragged me inside..... An infirmary?

" Sit." I quickly sat on the bed despite my fears.

 He walked towards the cabinets and rummaged through them while cursing beneath his breath. After getting what he was looking for, he stood in front of me with a 'you're so dead' look.

" Take off your coat."

My reaction was to wrap it around me instead.

 Take off my coat? What the heck is this? We're alone in a place with a bed and an angry dominant head Alpha!

My reaction didn't fix the situation, if anything, his gaze darkened the more as his eyelids twitched violently.

 I gently took off my coat without saying anything. His hands suddenly reached out and dragged my turtleneck up.

 I sucked in a cold breath as the pain of having an Alpha's claws pierced in me finally registered itself in my brain now that I wasn't pacing about and worrying my head off.

" Lucien." I didn't even look at him " Next time, call for me."

 I snapped my head towards him. His gaze was soft and I saw a bit of something mixed within. It seemed like.... Pain?

 No way! That's not right. Why would he be feeling pain? I must have seen it wrong....

" I get it, you're strong." he gripped the edge of the bed and leaned in " You're a dominant omega who'll rather die than swallow something like this but please Lucien.... Even if you hate me, even if I'm the last person you'd turn to in a moment of crisis... Don't do something as foolish as taking on three bastard Alphas."

" Okay. " I nodded seriously.

" No more alright? "

" I don't do things I'm uncertain of, plus, there's no way to contact you that quickly. I couldn't leave Eric behind either and they were going after the girls too. I knew I couldn't fully take them on so I had them return and report the issue. I just didn't expect that my wolf will be this fucking strong. "

Head Alpha Rhaegal stared at me for sometime before sighing and moving back with a hard gaze and clenched fists

" You never listen to me anyway, you only ever listen to mom."

" That's not true. " I turned my head away "And..... I don't hate you either. I'm still trying to come to terms with things and the idea of a mate just caught me off guard. I.... I'll try to be a better person, I promise. "

That was extremely random! I had no idea where that came from but I knew at the back of my mind that everything I said was true.

I was done pushing people away and everyone in the pack actually loves me and cares for me. I have a mate who respects me and would do anything to make me happy.

I really want to put the past behind me and move on. It's hard, yes, but I'll try harder! I'll get over my fears!

" Thank you." I heard him say " Now let's treat your wound. Bare with it."

 I nodded and sat still as he treated my wound. It was deep, five holes gushing out blood. How did I not notice that from the start?!

" All done." he helped me with my jacket.

" Thank you. " I said softly..

We left the room and caught up with the others. No one said a word as we all left for the pack.

It was past midnight already but no one wanted to stay so we left and got home not long after.

" Let's go." Head Alpha Rhaegal held my wrist and nodded towards his office.

For some reason, I felt scared to go with him but then again, he'll never hurt me so I followed behind.

The moment we walked in, the door slammed shut as Head Alpha Rhaegal enveloped me from behind.

" What are you-"

 My words were cut short as the room suddenly filled up with his pheromones. Alarms went off in my head and I started struggling in his hold.

" Stay still Lucien, it's not what you think." his voice was different from usual.

" Wh... What are you doing?!" he was angry judging from the pheromones " You might trigger my heat cycle. Fuck! Stop!"

" I have to get it off you."

" Get what off me?"

 I turned around in his embrace and I couldn't spit out the word I wanted to say. His eyes weren't their unusual sunset yellow, no, his eyes were glowing.... Glowing Gold!

 His wolf was in control!

" Hey...." I tried to speak " You're hurting me."

" Sorry Lucien, but I can't let my mate walk around, smelling like another God damn Alpha!"

Wait what?! Another Alpha?! Is he referring to those guys back at the bar? I have their scent on me?

" What.... are you.... talking about? "

" He left his scent on you. It's everywhere. "

" Lemme go Rhys..... Please. "

 His movement halted for a second before his hold slackened. I quickly moved back and took a defensive stance.

" Sorry." his voice and eye color were back to normal " Are you alright? I lost control there for a second."

" I'm fine." I moved back two more steps.

" Lucien-"

" I'm not trying to run from you."

 He stared at me like he didn't believe a word I said yet he didn't move. The room sunk into silence for a while before he stretched his hands and beckoned.

" Lucien. Come here."

 I stared at his outstretched hands for a long while before walking into them. He wrapped his hands around me and buried his head in my nape.

" I won't lose control again. I promise."

" I know. "
