CHAPTER THREE.

  Rouges?

 My heart leap to my throat as I grab the door handle. A hand yanked me back and I collided with a sturdy figure.

" Are you insane Lucien?!" I heard Alpha Conrad seethe " How can you jump out like that? Your brother will be fine as long as Conner's with him."

 I refused to listen to a word he says as I frantically struggled to get away from him. I hate being this close to an Alpha. I can't help the disgust that wells up in me.

" Stay still." he held me tighter " I'll go out to lend a hand, but you have to stay inside Lucien and that's an order. Don't you fucking take a step out of this car. Am I understood?"

 I whimpered and nodded as my submissive side could not fight against an Alpha's commanding voice. He buried his neck in the scruff of my neck and nuzzled around a bit. After a little while, he let go and jumped out of the car while shifting in midair and landing on all fours.

A large gray wolf with deep blue eyes turned to look at me before shutting the door with it paw and pouncing on a rouge.

  Realization hit me and I grabbed my backpack. I waited patiently and when the perfect moment arrived, I opened the door and crept out. I made my way towards Xavier who was also locked in the car. The moment I opened the car door, Xavier pounced on me.

" Be quiet." I covered his mouth and grabbed his backpack.

 With the car as a shade, we crept further into the woods. The moment we were out of sight, Xavier and I made a run for it. We had zero idea where we going, but we didn't stop. We had escape.

 After running hours nonstop, we found a cave and ran inside. It was empty much to our satisfaction and we quickly settled in. The fight should have ended long ago but I tried not to imagine how the Alphas will react if they found the cars empty.

" Lucie it's cold." Xavier moved closer to me and placed his head on my shoulder.

 I opened my backpack and rummaged through it. Pilling up a bunch of dried woods, we made a fire with the lighter I found. Xavier leaned on me and I wrapped my hands around me and drew him closer as I leaned back on the stone wall.

 I had no idea where were headed but as long as we're together, we'll be safe. As soon as we leave the woods, I'll find us a relatively quiet place to live amongst humans. We'll live away from werewolves and the likes.

 I cast my gaze low and stared at Xavier. I know why Alpha Conrad chose him, after all, he is one of the most beautiful omegas in the pack.

  Ruffling his hair. I covered him with my coat and closed my eyes. I need all the strength I can get.

 It's been weeks since we've been on the run and the weather became unbearable as the day goes by. It's been snowing heavily, and the whole woods is covered with snow. Xavier almost fell from a cliff one time.

My injuries were still in the process of healing and along with the stunt I pulled while trying to save Xavier, I opened them up and got new ones. Xavier's been worrying his head off about me and the drugs I brought with me weren't really helping the situation.

 Xavier's backpack was full of dried food and snacks while I packed medicines and inhalers, mittens and extra socks.

" How much further?" Xavier groaned.

" I'm not sure, but I see a clearing up ahead." I squinted " Let's pick up the pace. We might be out of here soon."

We soon arrived at the clearing, but there was nothing and no creature in sight. Despite the cold weather, we still encountered some animals on the road, but it's eerily quiet.

 I took hold of Xavier's hand and dragged him behind me. My pupils constricted when I smelt the scent I was trying to run away from, wolves! Ton of them!

 Are they rouges? But we haven't encountered any along the way. Did we fall into a trap set by them?

 A low growl snapped me back to reality, but I wasn't going to back down that easily. Not this time.

 A brown wolf emerged from the woods, followed by another. More wolves in their wolf form emerged and soon, we were encircled by a dozen wolves or so.

 A man walked out with a frown and scanned Xavier and I. His gaze softened after a few seconds buy I know we were in for it cause we didn't run into rogues, No. We've stumbled upon a pack's boundary!

" Who are you?" he asked in a thick voice.

" Lucien." I look him straight in the eye.

" What's your purpose in coming here?"

" None, that I can assure you." I hid Xavier away from their line of sight " We got attacked by rogues and got separated from our pack. We couldn't navigate our way out due to the snowstorm and ended up getting lost. We have no intention to trespass, so we'll be on our way."

 His hard gaze softened a lot, but I wasn't sure if they're gonna let us walk away freely. His face suddenly scrunched up in a frown as he sniffed the air and zero his gaze on Xavier.

 My pupils constricted when I realized what was going on...... Xavier was experiencing his first heat!

 I turned around and held him down. I took off my backpack and rummaged through it to try and find anything that could work. I grabbed a pill bottle. A suppressant. When did those get in there?

 I threw those thoughts to the back off my head as I stuff the pills into Xavier's mouth. He quickly scrunched up his brows and made an attempt to spit it out.

" Don't you fucking dare! Swallow them now! Do you know the situation you're in right now? You're having your first heat and if you don't swallow those pills now, I'll be more than happy to help."

 Xavier swallowed the pills dry and tried to control his breathing. The wolves that were surrounding us had moved back a great distance which I'm thankful for. An omega's heat does things to other wolves.

 " Why the hell is this happening now?!" Xavier groaned " Alexia isn't here. I feel like my insides are on fire."

" Suck it up." I growled and kept stuffing the pills into his mouth.

 When I felt his pheromones weaken, I stopped the pills. Xavier kept holding himself and growling, and I tried not to touch him. The smallest contact from someone who's not his mate will cause him additional pain.

After a while, his pheromones were finally under control. I lifted my hand to touch Xavier when he collapsed. I quickly reached out and grabbed him. It's a normal thing so he'll be fine. It's best if he's unconscious.

I turned to the delta who was speaking to me earlier.

" I have to get back home." I stood up and lifted Xavier and the backpacks " Sorry for the trouble though."

 I turned to walk away when my legs gave out. My injuries weren't healing and I barely ate anything while trying to make sure Xavier was full. I felt my vision get clouded, and a series of hurried footsteps, but my only concern was that I was dying and leaving Xavier behind.

I wanted to give him an easy life but now I'm dying and leaving him in the hands of wolves who'll do anything to an omega in heat.

Darkness slowly wrapped it hands around me and dragged me into it embrace as i sank deeper into it lowest depths
