Episode 13

After tossing and turning for some time Zain gets up and heads to Kai’s

chamber.

“Kai, are you still awake?” Zain asks as he slowly opens the door

“Do you realize what time of night it is right now?” Kai turns from his

desk to look at Zain.

“I was thinking and I remembered something that could be useful.”

“You didn’t hurt yourself, did you?” Kai asks with a small smirk

“No; why would I… hey that’s not funny Kai.”

“So what did all the thinking you did help you to remember?”

“When they all arrived at the castle; Spanx was taken to the medical wing

because the bite from the creature. The doctor confirmed Captains

hunch and said Spanx was having a unique reaction to the venom of the

bite, that to us she was simply dreaming but to her she was living

the events of what she was seeing.” Zain sits on the edge of Kais

bed.

“Does any of what you’re saying hold any significant meaning or are you

just talking to hear your own voice again Zain?”

“When Spanx woke up she said ‘there were two’ it has to mean something

right?”

“The night of the banquet, that explains why she started to act so

strangely; that must be what she was talking about when she said she

felt like she had been there before. She even said something about a

dream.”

Kai gets up from the chair and heads for the door.

“Where are you going?” Zain asks as he follows him

“There must be something in the room of records.”

The two of them head to the room of records. Kai looks around then takes

a rather large book of the shelf. He carries it to the table using

fire to light the two candles; he sets the book down and starts to

flip through the pages. On the opposite side of the table Zain

watches.

“What are you looking for?”

“You will know when I have found it.”

“Well if you told me I could help…”

“Here it is!”

“What does it say?”

“The Gemini symbol is in here.” Kai says after he reads the passage to

himself. He sits into a chair that’s next to him.

“What does that mean?”

“Gemini is a symbol used to indicate the birth of twins.”

“What about twins. What do twins have to do with any of what we are looking

for?” Zain sits in a chair that’s on his side of the table.

“This book says that Myra gave birth to two children. Her first born was a

boy the second born was a girl. The King didn’t want there to be

any disputes about sibling favoritism so he had the son sent away.

Myra was left untold about giving birth to the son. The King had

planned to marry the daughter with one of his grandsons.”

“Let me read the passage.” Zain turns the book around and reads it to

himself.

“Hey this says that he paired the daughter of Ari and Myra with his son

Hayden’s first born son; meaning that if Spanx is Ari’s daughter

she is to wed you Kai.” Zain slides the book back over to Kai.

“That was long ago; we are under the rule of a new king; a king with

different views.”

The two of them look at each other than at the book.

“Well we know that Myra had given birth to twins.” Kai says as he points

to the Gemini symbol in the book.

“Do you think it’s possible that the son could have survived?” Zain

asks

“At this point anything could be possible.”

“Didn’t you say that Asriel made an attack on the castle the same night Myra

gave birth? It was only a few hours after she had given birth. Our

grandfather was the only one that was killed during the attack other

than Myra sacrificing herself to protect the children.

“Twins one taken away one possibly raised in a different village; Myra gave

her life for all the children in the castle. One king dies another

takes the throne same night. Oh... None of this makes any sense it’s

just not adding up. What else is missing why must this be so hard to

put together?” Kai bends over placing his head into his hands.

“What about that Myreal character he’s a pretty odd one. There is just

something strange about him.” Zain tries to get Kai’s mind onto

something else.

“Myreal” Kai lifts his head.

“Don’t you find him a bit out of character though?” Zain asks.

“He did turn up at a really unexpected time. He even saved my life; he

said he was a lone wanderer.” Kai

“I wonder why he saved you that day.” Zain puts his hand on his chin

“Who knows, let’s just be thankful he did save me?” Kai lets out a

small sigh

“Yeah that’s true I still find it oddly strange.”

“I’m going to head to the kitchen would you like something while I’m

there?” Zain stands up

“At a time like this; you’re hungry?”

“Yeah, why do you make it sound like it’s such a bad thing?”

Kai stands up; he picks up the book then uses air to blow out the

candles. The two of them head towards the door. When they open the

door, they are met by Rexen, Maxen standing behind him.

“What are the two of you doing here?” Zain asks as he looks at the two of

them.

“Well I couldn’t sleep. I thought I would go see if Spanx was feeling any

better but Maxen was already standing by her door.” Rexen says.

“I knocked a few times but she didn’t answer; that’s when Mr. Ego

here decided to barge into her room. You know the weird thing is that

her room is empty and it looks like it has been empty for a few days

now.” Maxen says as he looks at Zain.

“You just walked into Spanx’s room?” Zain takes a step forward.

“Hey, hey we are trying to get information without drawing attention to

what we’re doing remember? Tell me one thing how did the two of you

know you would find us here?” Kai asks as he blocks Zain’s way

with his arm.

“I was able to use water to track your footsteps and followed them here.

It’s something I learned to do as a child because of Spanx; I found

it really helpful for hunting.” Maxen says

“We will most likely need that ability later. Although before I forget we

should all talk; I believe that you two know something that your

keeping secret about what actually happened with that creature.”

Kai

“Fine; but if anything is to come of Spanx for us talking I’ll never

forgive you.” Maxen

“We should talk in here it’s likely to be the only place no one enters

anymore. We should sit there is a lot to discuss.” Kai

The four of them make their way to the table. Each of them taking a seat

Kai relights the candles he’s the first to talk about the

information he’s gathered.
