Episode 8

Day of the Banquet



Spanx sits up quickly as she takes a deep breath.

“Oh lady Spanx I didn’t mean to startle you; but now that you’re

awake you need to come with me. We have an assortment of dresses

currently waiting for you and the other ladies to choose from for the

banquet.” Maid 3

“Oh, ok.” She rubs her eyes and yawns as she climbs out of bed.

Following the maid to the room where all the other girls are

excitedly getting ready. The room is overly full of dresses.

“Luna you should wear this lavender dress; it’s perfect for you.” Flora

says as she pulls a dress out of the bunch.

“Oh this deep blue one is really pretty too.” Specura says as she holds

the dress to herself.

“Hey Spanx, can you believe how many dresses are here?” Syi

“Spanx I have to give you a pretty flower too. Hold my hand this way your

heart can choose the color.”

“Ok.”

Holding her hand Flora uses her element to grow a flower in Spanx’s hair.

“Oh.” Flora looks at it with shock.

“Was that supposed to happen?” Zora asks

“Didn’t you say that our heart chooses the color?” Specura looks over

worriedly

“What is it; why is everyone so shocked about the flower?” Spanx looks

around at everyone each of them keeping quiet. She walks over to the

grand mirror. The flower is a black rose with some wilted spots on

it.

“Hey it’s still a pretty flower.” Syi says trying to be cheerful.

“She’s right. All flowers are beautiful.” Zora says also trying to be

cheerful.

“Dead flowers are not beautiful.” Luna says while she finishes slipping

into a dress.

“Luna!” all the girls together

“It’s ok, my heart chose a black rose, and maybe it’s telling me to wear

a black dress too.” Spanx says with a smile

“I hope everyone has chosen and changed into a dress. I’m here to take

you to the next room where you will have your hair put up nicely.”

Maid 4

Sorry I haven’t changed yet, I’m sure I’ll be able to find my way

once I’m changed though.” She smiles once again.

“Very well; now if everyone else can follow me please.” Maid 4

Everyone exits the room. Left alone in the room she turns to face the mirror

again. She lightly runs her finger over the rose’s petals; before

her finger leaves them, they begin to heal. As she watches it heal a

movement in the mirror catches her eye.

“Is someone there?” she asks as she turns around. The only reply is the

sound of something falling to the floor. She walks over and lying on

the floor is a dress she lifts it off the floor and looks at it. It’s

a backless dress with no straps; its heart shaped at the top the

bottom flows out. It’s a light pink at the top it gradually gets

darker as it becomes black at the bottom. She puts it on and goes

back to the mirror. She fixes her hair using the flower to hold it

into place.

She leaves the room to find where the banquet is going to be. As she

turns the corner she bumps into someone.

“I’m really sorry.” She says regaining her footing.

“No harm done; are you alright though?”

She looks up to see whom she’s bumped into she looks at him with some

confusion as he looks just like Zain but the young man in front of

her has long hair. Embarrassed she quickly bows.

“I’m sorry, please excuse me.”

She walks away as quickly as her feet will carry her. She calm’s

herself as she enters the hall and starts down the stairs.

“Oh my Ari look at her.” Chime says as she notices her walking down the

steps.

“You were right when you said she looks just like her. That dress is the

same one Myra wore to our welcoming banquet; how is it even possible

they both chose the same dress to wear to the same event?” Ari

says.

“Life is truly amazing sir.”

Ari and Chime smile to one another.



At the sound of a horn everyone turns their attention to the stairway

the King and his Queen Rise to their feet.

“Announcing the two brothers of the royal kingdom, Prince Kai and Prince Zain.”

A servant speaks loudly for everyone to hear.

The two make their way down the stairs

“Welcome back prince Kai.”

“It’s wonderful to have you back at the castle prince Kai.”

“Thank you; it’s really great to be home.” He says with a smile

Kai goes straight to the king.

“You are free to speak my son.” The king then takes his seat.

“Father there is someone I owe my life to. If I may I wish to introduce him

to you, if not for he; I would not have returned home alive.” Kai

gives a bow

“Please reveal the brave soul who saved the life of my eldest son.”

Kai waves over the young man standing by the stairs. He makes his way

over to the king he stands next to Kai. He kneels before the king.

“Please rise and tell me your name.”

“Please call me Myreal your highness.” He says as he stands up

“Is there anything you would like Myreal; even though I feel that nothing

could equal up to you courageously saving my son’s life?”

“Your highness I was only hoping I could become a personal servant to

prince Kai. That is if he accepts me to serve him.” Myreal says

with another bow

“What do you think of his offer my son?”

“I think that having someone to watch my back might be good for me. We

of course don’t know what Asriel could be planning.”

“Very well, now let’s enjoy this beautiful banquet; let the festivities

begin.”

At the king’s words music fills the room.

“Lady Luna would you allow me the honor of a dance with you?” Remigen

asks as he holds a flower out to her.

“Is that an Iris?” she looks up at him

“Indeed it is; will you accept it?”

“Happily” She smiles

He places it next to the orchid in her hair. Then he takes her hand

leading her onto the dance floor.

“Hello Flora, I know we haven’t had much of any type of conversation

together, but I think you are truly beautiful and very sweet… I was

hoping we could…” Nellen

“Are you trying to ask me to dance with you? Flora asks

Surprised he looks up at her clearly nervous and blushing he puts his hand onto

his head.

“Well if you are my answer is yes.” She smiles at him

“Oh ok; I see… Wait you actually said yes.”

“Nellen you are way too cute for your own good. Let’s go dance.” She

smiles happily taking his hand they disappear into the crowd.

“Uh oh look at Maxen; he has no clue on what to do.” Specura says as

she chuckles.

“He’s surrounded by a lot of beautiful women; he’s probably never seen

that many at one time before.” Argo says

“He was always popular with the women back in our village.” Spanx says

Syi walks over to him and takes his hand she leads him into the crowd.

“That was a brave move Syi.” Spanx smiles to herself.

“Argo would you like to dance with me?” Specura asks

“Sure, but shouldn’t I have been the one to ask you to dance?” Argo

Laughing they mix into the dancing crowd as well.

“Rexen!” Zora calls out

“What’s up Zora?” he asks as she walks up to him

“Could we share a dance… as friends or even as fellow guards?”

Noticing Rexen looking around Spanx hides within the crowd using it as cover.

“Sure one dance as friend’s sounds fun.”

“Best moment ever.” Zora say’s as they make their way into the crowd.

“I wonder what types of food are at the tables.” Spanx turns and then

bumps into someone. Then she trips on the hem of the dress; she

closes her eyes embracing to hit the floor. When she doesn’t she

opens her eyes slowly she looks up to see the person who has caught

her when their eyes meet Spanx feels like she knows him from

somewhere else.

“Can it, really be you?” said so softly it almost goes unheard.

“I’m sorry?” she asks

“Are you ok? Oh, it’s you the one from the corridor.” Prince Kai.

“I’m deeply sorry I have bumped into twice today Prince Kai, also to you

Myreal I’m sorry to inconvenience you. I also thank you for

catching me, if the two of you would please excuse me.” On her

feet, again she goes to leave but she’s stopped by Zain.

“Prince Zain.”

“Spanx is my brother bothering you?” he asks as he stares at Kai.

“Oh um, no I feel I may be the one who is bothering him, I was just

leaving though…”

“Well it’s been a pleasure to meet you Lady Spanx; you have a very

beautiful name. Would you honor me a dance with you?”

“Well I…”

“She cannot dance with you.” Zain says as he takes her hand into his.

She pulls her hand away.

“I don’t mean to be speaking out of my place being that you are a

prince, but I do not need anyone to make decisions for me.”

She then turns to Kai.

“I will happily share a dance with you Prince Kai.” She says while

giving a bow.

Kai takes Spanx hand; they start dancing leaving behind a shocked Zain.

“Pull to hard and they pull away; don’t pull hard enough and they’ll

pull away. Love is a very tricky thing to figure out Prince Zain.”

Myreal says

“You speak as if you know firsthand how this feels yet you are no older

than I. are you really who you say?”

“I only say this because someone who is close to me had something like

what you are going through happen to them.” Myreal says as his eyes

follow the dancing crowd.

Zain doesn’t give a reply he just watches as Spanx dances with Kai.
