Chapter 11- Backstory pt.2

The next few days went in a flash, all Rae did was study. She now knew that paying any attention to Kami isn't gonna help her at all. So, it will be better to focus on the main stuff right now. She didn't care about other students or teachers either, all she wanted to do right now was complete her current writing.

"Dang, I need to hurry up, I am gonna be late." Rae reminds herself and grabs her coat from the hanger, wearing it swiftly.

"Whoa, whoa, where are you off to in such a hurry?" Aviva asks her as she wears her shoes.

"Oh yeah, I need to drop by the bookstore near our school, just need to submit some stuff." Rae tells her and her mouth curves to an 'o' shape in reaction.

"Oh sure, I will stay here, Salie and Sia are out by the way." Aviva says and puts her headphones back to her ears, humming the tune of the song being played.

It was a weekend, students were allowed to go out of the school (with supervision from an adult) or just stay in their rooms. Rae didn't have to worry about taking someone with her as 17-18 y/o students are allowed to go by their own.

Even though the school looked all classy and boring, the surroundings were lovely. As Rae stepped out, she smells a hint of fresh flowers and looks around to see from where the scent was coming. Her eyes lay on the garden, the school garden.

"Wow, I didn't even know this place existed." She says as she goes inside that garden, there were alot of flowers decorating the place, making it look like a grand enterance for a Prince.

She wanted to explore the place more, but then she remembered that she still had to go to the bookstore. She promised herself that she will come there again afterwards.

Rae runs to avoid being late and when she reaches the bookstore, she finds herself panting and breathless.

"Hello Miss, you are Rae I suppose?" A friendly looking lady, maybe in her 40s, welcomes her. Rae nods in response to her assumption.

"It's a pleasure to meet you in person, Mrs. Baek." Rae says with a small smile. She came to the bookstore to talk with the owner, who is interested in knowing about her novel. The bookstore she went in wasn't a really big place and all, but it was a small step. A small step which is going to help her later on.

Rae started writing ever since she was 12, she wrote anything which came on her mind, poems, stories- be it long or short, articles etc. Writing was just a hobby for her, until she decides to write a novel. Just for herself.

Rae didn't tell anyone about it, she just kept her passion to herself, until she decides to publish her work.

She publishes one of her novels online, hoping for anyone to notice it and read it. Rae wasn't really confident of her writing skills, she thought that there were always better writers than her, no one would like her work or take it seriously. But oh, how wrong she was.

Her novel gained thousands of readers, she was surprised that there were so many people liking her work to an extent where they were actually willing to pay for it. She didn't let the chance go and was ready to publish her book in paperback. All was going well untill her parents knew about it.

-flashback-

"Kim Aurelia, come here this instant!" Mrs. Kim yells from downstairs. Rae knew that she was in trouble as her parents don't call her by her full name usually.

"Yes?" Rae comes downstairs and looks at her parents, her father holding a small envelope.

"What is this letter about? Your novel stuff or something being selected and some nonsense." Mr. Kim says with an annoyed tone.

"Dad...I published a novel...and the letter- what the hell?" Rae starts but is eventually cut out by her mother, who looks at her daughter with a shocked face.

"Umm...mom and dad...I want to be a writer." Rae states and hangs her face down, she knew that her parents won't ever support her in her career.

"Is this some kind of joke? A writer? Seriously? Do you really think this will be useful for your future? You will earn a few bucks by writing some cliche stuff, how are you going to support us when we become old then huh?!" Her father spat out. For him, writing was just a joke.

"Can't you learn from your brother? He is working hard day and night to be a doctor, and here you are, publishing nonsense on some cheap website. You couldn't think of any better way to ruin your future?!" Her mother says harshly, Rae tries to stay calm, she didn't want to cry in front of them.

It's okay Rae, it's gonna be over.

"Can you please listen to me for one minute- what is there left to listen?! No way in heck you are being a writer, our years reputation is gonna be ruined if the daughter of the Kim family earns a living by writing some stupid stories." Mr. Kim doesn't give her a chance to exaplain herself. Both of her parents kept shooting insults to her and her writings. This wasn't the first time though. She gets scolded without any reason or for the smallest mistakes almost everday. But, till now Rae had enough.

Reputation. That's all they care about.

It's always her getting targetted. Do it Rae, you don't want to live with any regrets right? You are always expected to be the perfect daughter, but where is your will?

After mustering up all of her courage, Rae spoke up.

"I am not going to listen to you both anymore Or obey your orders." Rae says and stares her parents, making them shocked.

"What did you just say?!" Her mother shouts at her furiously.

"I SAID I AM NOT YOUR TOY TO PLAY WITH. I WILL DO WHAT I WANT, SO STOP EXPECTING ANYTHING FROM ME!" Rae shouts louder this time, her parents are taken aback from her sudden actions. Rae goes back upstairs to her room, leaving her parents just like that.

Well, that was how she ended up going to a boarding school, at her own will.

-end of flashback-

"Miss Rae?" Mrs. Baek asks, disturbing Rae's deep thoughts.

"Ah, yes?" Rae wakes her up mentally. Her focus should be there right now, the past is gone.

"The manager is inside, waiting for you." The old lady says, recieving a small smile from Rae.

"Oh, okay, I will go then." Rae says and hastily opens the door which reveals a young man sitting on a chair, typing something on the computer. As he looks at Rae, he stands up and greets her.

"Nice to meet you, Miss Kim."

Finally, no one can stop her now. Or someone can....?
