Rewriting the Fate of Mr.Kim~
Balancing Duty and Worry~¹⁰
The forest buzzed with activity as officers inspected the newly discovered lake. The higher-ups, impressed by the picturesque and strategic location, continued their discussions with Taehyung about its potential.
General Song Joong Ki
(studying the waterfall): “We’ll need a detailed report on the depth and surrounding terrain. This spot has potential, but it requires thorough assessment before we can integrate it into our plans.”
Captain Kim Taehyung
(nodding): “I’ll have a team assigned to it. They can begin measurements and safety checks immediately. We’ll ensure no risks are overlooked.”
The other officers listened intently, some taking notes while others scanned the area for hazards. Despite the lively discussions, Taehyung’s mind drifted to Jimin’s condition. He recalled the officer’s earlier report: Jimin injured and Yoongi escorting him back to base. His gut clenched with worry, but his expression remained composed, betraying none of his inner turmoil.
General Hyung Bin
(breaking Taehyung’s thoughts): “Captain Kim, any suggestions for how to approach training here without disturbing the natural environment?”
Captain Kim Taehyung
(steadying himself): “Yes. We’ll focus on water-based drills, such as endurance swimming and simulated rescue operations. The rocky area around the lake can be used for tactical maneuvers, provided we ensure safety measures are in place.”
The higher-ups exchanged approving glances, though one raised a concern.
Park Seo-joon
“What about the risk of wild animals? This area looks untouched, which means we could encounter territorial creatures.”
Captain Kim Taehyung
“We’ll conduct a thorough wildlife survey before deploying any teams here. If necessary, we’ll establish a temporary perimeter to ensure safety during drills.”
As the discussion continued, Taehyung remained focused, though the image of Jimin injured by the lake refused to leave his mind.
The conversation among the higher-ups shifted to other potential training scenarios, with each officer contributing ideas. Taehyung maintained his calm demeanor, taking notes and providing insights.
General Song Joong Ki
(gesturing toward the lake): “What about underwater navigation drills? We could simulate real-life escape scenarios here.”
Captain Kim Taehyung
(nodding thoughtfully): “An excellent suggestion, sir. We can also train officers in night operations by utilizing the forest paths around the lake. It would enhance their adaptability to different environments.”
While Taehyung articulated his ideas, his thoughts repeatedly drifted back to Yoongi and Jimin. He wondered if Jimin was receiving proper care and how serious the injuries were. Yet, he couldn’t let his concern show—not now, not in front of his superiors.
General Kang Hoon
(smirking slightly): “Captain Kim, you seem distracted. Thinking about something important?”
Taehyung’s head snapped up, and his sharp eyes met the general’s amused gaze.
Captain Kim Taehyung
(smoothly): “Not distracted, sir—simply considering all the possibilities for this area. A location like this deserves careful planning.”
The general chuckled, letting the comment slide, while the others resumed their discussions.
As the higher-ups debated the lake's usability, a junior officer hurried toward Taehyung. He saluted smartly before delivering his report.
Kang Tae-oh
(speaking quickly): “Captain Kim, I have an update on the incident. Officer Park Jimin sustained injuries to his knee and ankle after slipping into the lake. Commanding Officer Min Yoongi has taken him at his care as all medic team is here.”
Taehyung’s jaw tightened, and his fingers clenched slightly at his sides.
Captain Kim Taehyung
(calmly): “Thank you for the update, Officer Kang. Did Officer Min mention the severity of the injuries?”
Kang Tae-oh
“Yes, sir. Commanding Officer Min assured me it wasn’t life-threatening but stated that Officer Park couldn’t walk and was bleeding heavily.”
Taehyung exhaled slowly, forcing himself to focus. He couldn’t afford to let his emotions cloud his judgment.
Captain Kim Taehyung
(firmly): “Understood. Inform Commanding Officer Min to keep me updated on Officer Park’s condition. Dismissed.”
The officer saluted again before retreating.
Taehyung turned back toward the group, his expression neutral. However, inside, his worry threatened to consume him. He couldn’t leave the higher-ups to check on Jimin—his responsibilities demanded his presence here.
Park Seo-joon
(noticing Taehyung’s distant look): “Captain Kim, everything alright?”
Captain Kim Taehyung
(forcing a small smile): “Yes, sir. Just ensuring all aspects of the plan are covered. We’ll need to coordinate with multiple teams to execute this effectively.”
The general nodded, seemingly satisfied, and continued discussing logistics.
As the group moved closer to the water, Taehyung pointed out areas suitable for various training activities.
Captain Kim Taehyung
(gesturing toward a rocky outcrop): “This section can be used for climbing drills. The uneven terrain will challenge balance and coordination, essential skills for missions in unpredictable environments.”
General Song Joong Ki
(thoughtfully): “Good point. But we’ll need to ensure safety harnesses are readily available.”
Captain Kim Taehyung
“Of course, sir. Safety remains a priority.”
Another officer chimed in with a suggestion.
Kim Woo-Bin
(pointing to a shaded area): “This spot could serve as a rest zone during intense drills. The natural shade will provide relief during summer training.”
Captain Kim Taehyung
(nodding): “An excellent observation. We’ll set up temporary seating and hydration stations here.”
The discussions continued, with the higher-ups occasionally challenging Taehyung’s ideas. Despite his internal conflict, Taehyung handled their concerns with precision and confidence, earning their respect anew.
As the group wrapped up their inspection, Taehyung found himself standing apart, staring at the lake. The serene water reflected the sunlight, its surface rippling gently in the breeze. For a moment, the weight of his responsibilities pressed down on him.
Captain Kim Taehyung
(thinking): “Jimin, you better be alright. I can’t afford to lose focus now, but I’ll make sure you’re taken care of as soon as I’m free.”
A voice interrupted his thoughts.
General Hyung Bin
(walking over): “Captain Kim, you’ve done well today. Your vision for this base is impressive.”
Captain Kim Taehyung
(turning to face him): “Thank you, sir. I’ll ensure everything is executed to the highest standards.”
The general patted his shoulder before rejoining the group. Taehyung straightened, pushing his worries aside. His duty came first, but once this task was complete, he would personally check on Jimin.
The higher-ups gathered one final time near the lake’s edge to summarize their observations.
General Song Joong Ki
“We’ll proceed with your plans, Captain Kim, but ensure regular updates. This project has potential, but it requires careful execution.”
Captain Kim Taehyung
(saluting): “Understood, sir. I’ll keep you informed at every step.”
As the group prepared to leave, Taehyung cast one last glance at the lake. The tranquil setting belied the challenges ahead, but Taehyung thrived on challenges.
Captain Kim Taehyung
💭 This place will become a testament to our strength and unity. And when I return to the base, I’ll ensure Jimin knows he’s not alone in this.
With that thought, Taehyung followed the group back toward the forest, ready to tackle whatever lay ahead.
The dense forest hummed with life as officers returned to their designated groups. The inspection of the terrain continued under the experienced eyes of the higher-ups, their conversation blending strategic planning with logistical challenges. Taehyung, though outwardly composed, carried a subtle unease in his heart. His thoughts lingered on Jimin’s injury, but his unwavering sense of duty anchored him to the task at hand.
General Song Joong Ki
(pointing toward a ridge): “Captain Kim, what’s your assessment of that elevation? Could it serve as a vantage point for surveillance training?”
Taehyung squinted at the ridge, evaluating its steep incline and rocky surface.
Captain Kim Taehyung
(calmly): “The elevation is ideal for observation drills, but we’ll need to clear some of the debris for safe access. Additionally, it would be prudent to establish anchor points for any rappelling exercises.”
Park Seo-joon
(nodding): “Sound reasoning. But won’t the debris removal disrupt the natural balance here?”
Captain Kim Taehyung
“Not necessarily, sir. We can clear only essential paths and leave the surrounding environment untouched. Our approach will prioritize sustainability while ensuring safety.”
The generals exchanged approving glances, recognizing Taehyung’s ability to balance strategy with practicality.
