The soft glow of dawn painted the horizon as Taehyung arrived at the training site, his footsteps purposeful and firm. The air was crisp, filled with the faint scent of pine and earth. Soldiers had already begun assembling, their chatter blending with the occasional clink of tools.
Taehyung’s sharp eyes scanned the area, noting the progress from the previous day. Climbing nets were partially installed, ropes neatly coiled near the obstacle course, and marked zones for various activities taking shape.
Captain Kim Taehyung
(addressing the group): “Good work yesterday. We’ve made progress, but there’s still much to do. Let’s push harder today. Remember, every effort counts toward building something greater.”
The soldiers nodded, their morale lifted by his encouragement. Taehyung divided the teams, assigning tasks with precision.
Location: Rope Training Section
While supervising the rope ladder assembly, Taehyung noticed tension brewing among a group of soldiers. Two recruits, Lee Dongmin and Kang Daehyun, were locked in a heated argument.
Lee Dongmin
“I told you, this rope won’t hold. The knots are too loose!”
Kang Daehyun
“Maybe if you didn’t waste time criticizing, we’d actually get something done!”
The argument grew louder, drawing the attention of nearby soldiers. Before it could escalate further, Taehyung stepped in, his voice calm but authoritative.
Captain Kim Taehyung
“Enough. What’s going on here?”
Lee Dongmin and Kang Daehyun immediately stiffened, their faces flushed with embarrassment.
Lee Dongmin
“Captain, I was just pointing out that the knots need to be tighter for safety.”
Kang Daehyun
“And I was saying we’re working on it. He’s being overly critical.”
Taehyung observed them for a moment before speaking.
Captain Kim Taehyung
“Both of you are right in your own way, but arguing solves nothing. Lee Dongmin, your concern is valid, but instead of criticizing, guide your teammate. Kang Daehyun, accept feedback gracefully and focus on improvement. Remember, we’re a team. Our strength lies in unity, not division.”
Both men nodded, their expressions subdued.
Lee Dongmin
(muttering): “Understood, Captain.”
Kang Daehyun
“We’ll fix it right away, sir.”
Satisfied, Taehyung left them to their task, his intervention serving as a reminder of his leadership.
As the sun reached its zenith, Taehyung retreated to the command tent for a brief respite. Jimin and Yoongi joined him, carrying water bottles and a map of the training site
Park Jimin (Second Lieutenant)
(grinning): “I heard about the rope ladder incident. You really know how to keep things in check, Taehyung.”
Captain Kim Taehyung
(sipping water): “Discipline and guidance go hand in hand. You can’t have one without the other.”
Min Yoongi (commanding officer)
“Still, it’s impressive how you handled it. Not many would take the time to mediate a minor dispute.”
Taehyung leaned back in his chair, his expression thoughtful.
Captain Kim Taehyung
“Every small conflict has the potential to grow if left unchecked. It’s better to address issues early and build trust.”
Jimin nodded, a rare seriousness in his tone.
Park Jimin (Second Lieutenant)
“You’re right. Trust is the foundation of any team. Speaking of which, have you noticed how some of the older officers are testing you?”
Taehyung’s gaze sharpened.
Captain Kim Taehyung
“I’ve noticed. It’s expected. They want to see if I’m deserving of this rank. Let them test me. I’ll prove myself through actions, not words.”
Yoongi smirked, his voice tinged with admiration.
Min Yoongi (commanding officer)
“That’s why you’re Captain Kim.”
Location: Obstacle Course Zone
By mid-afternoon, the initial setup of the obstacle course was complete. Taehyung decided to test it personally before assigning it to the soldiers.
As he approached the starting line, Kang Tae-oh appeared, his trademark smirk in place.
Kang Tae-oh
“Captain Kim, testing the course already? Don’t you trust your team’s work?”
Captain Kim Taehyung
(calmly): “Trust doesn’t replace verification. It ensures it.”
Kang Tae-oh
(grinning): “Mind if I join you? Two heads are better than one.”
Taehyung nodded, stepping aside to let Kang Tae-oh join him at the start.
The course was grueling, featuring climbing nets, balance beams, crawling tunnels, and rope swings. Both men tackled it with determination, their movements fluid and precise.
Kang Tae-oh
(panting): “You’re fast, Captain, but let’s see if you can keep up with this!”
He surged ahead on the final stretch, leaping over the rope swing with a burst of energy. Taehyung followed close behind, his calculated approach allowing him to maintain pace.
They crossed the finish line together, both breathing heavily but grinning.
Kang Tae-oh
“Not bad, Captain. Not bad at all.”
Captain Kim Taehyung
“You’re not so bad yourself, Officer Kang. This course is ready for the team.”
The soldiers watching cheered, their respect for both men evident.
