Rewriting the Fate of Mr.Kim~
Shadows of Past~⁴
Taehyung sitting at his desk, staring at nothing, air streaming through the window.
Kim Taehyung
"Two Years.... That's how long it should've taken for Yoongi-hyung to arrive here."
Kim Taehyung
"And my promotion was needed two more years..."
Pauses, running hand through his hair and groan in frustration.
Kim Taehyung
"But everything's happening faster this time."
His eyes drifted to the stack of documents on his desk, meticulously arranged yet untouched for the past hours.
Kim Taehyung
💭 Is it because of me? Because I've already lived through this? My choices have started shifting the timeline. Events are colliding earlier than they should.
He leaned back in his chair, the faint hum of the Barracks heater filling the silence.
Kim Taehyung
(mutter) "Base 17..."
He frowned, the weight of his decision pressing down on him.
Kim Taehyung
💭 I could've gone back to Base 17. It would've been the logical move. But Jungkook is there. I'm not ready to face him. Not yet. Not after everything.
Kim Taehyung
💭 I can't avoid him forever, though. Eventually, I'll be called to main Base camp. But for now, I can delay it. I've been through every training and drill at Base 17 already. I'm not losing anything by staying here. Besides... I need to focus on strengthening this base.
He closed his eyes, exhaustion creeping in. Thoughts of Jungkook lingered, unbidden, until sleep finally claimed him.
•• Time - Early Morning ••
The faint chill of dawn lingered as Taehyung followed a senior officer through the bustling grounds of Base 17. Soldiers saluted as they passed, their discipline impeccable.
Someone
Senior Officer: "This base is known for producing some of the most talented soldiers in the country. You'll fit in well, Captain Kim."
Taehyung offered a polite nod, his eyes scanning the area. They stopped near the boxing ring, where a young man's precise movements caught his attention.
Drenched in sweats, his muscles flexed with each punch, his focus unshakable. Taehyung felt a strange pull, his gaze locked on the younger man.
Someone
Senior Officer: "That's Jeon Jungkook. Best recruit we've had in years. He's been here just a month, but his skills are unmatched."
Kim Taehyung (past)
(softly) "I can see why."
Someone
Senior Officer: (called out) "Jungkook!"
Jungkook stopped mid-swing, turning to face them. His dark eyes met Taehyung's, curiosity flickering in his gaze.
Jeon Jungkook (Past)
(Salute) "Sir."
Someone
Senior Officer: "This is Captain Kim Taehyung. He's joining us starting today. Show him around later."
Jeon Jungkook (Past)
(bows) "Understood sir."
For a brief moment, Taehyung felt the weight of Jungkook's attention -- a mixture of respect and intrigue.
Taehyung jolted awake, with his breath uneven, forehead full of sweats. The memories lingered, vivid and raw.
Kim Taehyung
(mutter) "Jungkook..."
He sat up, running a hand down his face. His eyes shifted to the clock on the wall -- it was 3:30 am, half an hour before the training ground would fill with soldiers.
Kim Taehyung
💭 Why now..... Why did I have to think of you?
Kim Taehyung
💭 I need to stop thinking about him.
Shaking off the remnants of his dream and thoughts, he decided to clear his head.
•• Location - Training Ground ••
The training grounds were silent, the faint glow of the approaching dawn illuminating the area. Taehyung walked the perimeter, his sharp eyes taking in every detail.
He walked slowly, inspecting the facilities. The grounds were adequate, but lacked the refinement and efficiency he had seen at Base 17.
Kim Taehyung
💭 We need better equipment. More space for drills. Upgraded weapons storage...
His mind raced with plans, each one aimed at turning this base into a force to be reckoned with.
His thoughts were interrupted by the arrival of Jimin, still yawning as he approached.
Park Jimin (Second Lieutenant)
"Early as always, Captain."
Park Jimin (Second Lieutenant)
"So what were you thinking earlier, you seemed lost."
Kim Taehyung
"Thinking about modifying the base..."
Yoongi approached them, making a halt in their conversation.
Min Yoongi (commanding officer)
"You two are surprisingly chatty this early."
Park Jimin (Second Lieutenant)
"We are talking about something serious."
Min Yoongi (commanding officer)
"Huh? What's that?"
Park Jimin (Second Lieutenant)
"First start getting up early."
Min Yoongi (commanding officer)
"Am I still not early here before half the base."
Kim Taehyung
(cut in) "Enough."
Both men quieted, their attention shifting to Taehyung.
Kim Taehyung
"I've been thinking about upgrading the training grounds and facilities. This base has potential, but it needs work."
Min Yoongi (commanding officer)
(nods) "About time someone took the initiative. What's the plan?"
Kim Taehyung
"New equipment, better training schedules, and alliances with other bases for joint exercises. But first, we need approval from the higher ups."
Park Jimin (Second Lieutenant)
"Leave that to me. I've got connections."
Min Yoongi (commanding officer)
"And I'll handle the logistics. Just make sure your ideas are solid, Taehyung."
Kim Taehyung
"They will be."
Min Yoongi (commanding officer)
(smirk) "Look like this 'dump' might turn into something worthwhile after all."
Kim Taehyung
"That's the plan."
Park Jimin (Second Lieutenant)
"Well, you're the right person to change that. Just don't push us too hard, yeah?"
Kim Taehyung
(smirked faintly) "No promises."
Min Yoongi (commanding officer)
"Just don't forget to give us a break once in a while."
Kim Taehyung
(chuckled softly) "I'll think about it."
Park Jimin (Second Lieutenant)
"Don't forget we're human. We need breaks, too."
Kim Taehyung
(facepalm) "Noted."
As the sun rose higher, the train grounds came to life, officer gathering for their morning drills. Taehyung stood at the edge, watching his men with a critical eye.
Kim Taehyung
💭 This is my chance to rewrite everything. No mistakes. No betrayals.
His thoughts briefly drifted back to Jungkook, and a pang of longing pierced through him.
Kim Taehyung
💭 I'll face you eventually. But not yet.
With a deep breath, he pushed the memories aside and focused on the task at hand. This base, this future -- it was his to shape.
