20. Angel

Ben Smith! The only leader of the royal Smith's family is now a rich and famous multi-millionaire. After the death of his big brother, all the properties and shares were transferred to him.

No one knew how his brother died. No one even cared. Why? Because he was accused of being a criminal who killed every family member so that he can be the only heir in his family.

But according to the story, Ben survived and caught his wrongdoings. But before he could take any action, his brother with his wife and daughter was found dead.

After their investigation, Ryan and Mia went to their respective house. Even though Ryan wanted to drop Mia to her house, she refused him as she didn't want him to waste his time.

Their exams were going to start soon after a few weeks so they had to prepare for it. Mia opened her books and started revising her chapters.

How much she tried, but still she was not able to concentrate on her study. Her heart was beating fast and she was having some kind of uneasy feelings.

She quickly closed her books and went towards her bed. She lifted the mattress and opened a secret cabinet which was made in the bed. From there, she took out an old photo of a family.

In the photo, a couple were there hugging each other with a little girl who was in between them. Anyone could tell, she was their daughter. She was having a wide smile plastered on her face.

But the woman in the photo had a big belly. Guess what? She was pregnant. Yes! It was a family of 4 people. But alas! Who knew this could be the last photo of them together.

A drop of tear escaped from Mia's eyes after seeing the baby bump in the pic. She caressed it gently and gave a small smile. She was overwhelmed.

She wiped her tears and put the pic back in the secret place. After putting the mattress back, she made her bed nicely. No one can think that there could be a secret cabinet there.

'No Mia! This is not the time to cry. You have to be strong! You can't let your plan fail! But… I miss him. I want to meet him. '

She was fighting with her feelings. She didn't want any flaws in her plan but her feelings took over her. Mia is not a person who listens to her heart but sometimes it's good to follow your heart.

She changed her clothes to a black hoodie and black jeans. She wore white sneakers and a mask to cover her face. Her hair was tied in a pony and she wore her hoodie to hide herself properly.

Damn! She totally looked like a stalker. After reaching the road, she called one of the taxis. She took her smartphone out and told the driver where to go.

After half an hour she reached her destination. It was an orphanage. She saw some of the kids playing in the courtyard. She went towards them and squatted down.

The kids were first scared to see an unknown person near them but when she opened her mask, they smiled and hugged her quickly. They knew her since she occasionally comes to meet them when free.

But soon a voice made her snap out. "Don't you think it's too risky to take your mask off everytime?" The kids broke the hug and went towards that person.

"Brother! Don't you want us to see our 'Angel'? One of the kids said innocently as Mia was an 'angel' to them.

Whenever she went to meet them, she brought some toys and sweets for them. She knew how it feels to be an orphan since she also lost her parents at a young age.

That boy got down on his knees and stared at the kid. "Do you want your angel to be hurt?" He asked the kid who shook his head saying No.

"Good! Do you know, there are many monsters in disguise who want to harm our angel. That's why we have to hide our Angel or else she will be hurt." This made all the kids nod in agreement.

"Yes! We will protect our Angel! We won't let anyone hurt her." Those kids cheered happily and hugged Mia again.

'It's not me who needs protection... It's YOU, MY BROTHER...'
