11. Rumours

After arriving at college, Mia was shocked to see the scene. There were police everywhere in the whole campus. They were inquiring about Charles' friends and the teachers and Principal.

Mia was walking on the way listening to their investigation. She can hear some of their conversation. She looked around the campus and found a General sitting with a student in the canteen through the window.

She went to the canteen and sat at the table which was near them. They were sitting near the window and talking about the incident. She was sitting in a corner, behind their table facing the opposite direction so that they would not notice her.

There was a big gap between the tables but still she could hear their conversation. There were only a few people in the cafeteria so it was quite enough. She took out her noodles which she kept in her bag in a plastic lunch box and started eating it.

The General was a well known officer and the student was a close friend of Charles. He was giving him all the information related to Charles. And mostly the persons related to him.

Mia suddenly choked when she heard her name from him. She quickly gulped the water and tried to calm herself. She was also related to this incident now due to what happened yesterday.

Many students spread false rumors about them, so they were also in suspicion now. But the investigation was still going on. They were not sure about the culprit because there was no sign of the murderer.

The news was also on TV and the reporters were making false rumors about the incident and blaming the police. They were reporting the incident and making false claims about the murderer.

They showed the photo of the incident when their bodies were discovered. At the scene, Charles and his men were laying dead on the ground. They were shot by the gun and there was not much blood in the scene as it was dried up.

According to the theory, they would have been murdered last night at the spot. But the strange fact was that the Mafia King, who had a large security force, was attacked last night and there was not even a single trace about the culprit.

There were only a few traces of bike tyres which had almost vanished and the broken security cameras. There was not enough evidence so it was hard for the police to find the culprit.

'How could a normal person attack the Mafia King and kill him overnight without leaving a single trace? Is he/she one of his enemies or someone who wants to take his position? Who can dare to kill the Mafia King? Who is this Genius? Now, who will be the New Mafia King '?

There were a lot of questions which cannot be answered. The more they wanted to solve it, the more it got puzzled. But there was a name which was linked in this incident - 'SHADOW'.

Mia then packed her bag and left the canteen. She was trying to figure out the whole situation about the incident. There was also one more person who was linked with the incident- Ryan. She then quickly went to search for him.

She searched the whole building and found him sitting at the rooftop alone looking at the sky. She came near him and sat beside him. His face looked pale and his eyes were swollen. He had dark circles under his eyes.

She tried to comfort him but he was looking at the sky blankly without any emotion. After a while, he sighed and stood up from his place. He was surprised to see Mia sitting near him. He didn't notice her till that time.

He was leaving when Mia stopped him. She asked him whether he was fine or not. He didn't reply to her. But after some time he said something to her and left. "What's done cannot be undone! "

Mia was again dumbfounded by him. She thought that he was acting weird again. 'Why is he so mysterious? I don't even know what's wrong with him! But does he really not care about Charles' death? Or is there something which is unknown to me?!'

There were questions but no answers. All of them had their dark secrets which were hidden from everyone. Everyone had a past which they didn't want anyone to discover. Even after having their own secrets, can they still trust each other?

Mia also got up and ran after him. She was going to stop him but someone pulled her hand. When she turned around she saw Sofia holding her hand. Then Jasmine came running towards them in a hurry.

"Sofia, Jasmine, what happened? Why do you guys look so tense? " She asked them in a worried voice. "Mia, the General is calling you for inspection. Hurry up." Jasmine replied back to her and dragged Mia with her. Mia tried to slow down but Jasmine was running very fast.

Mia thought, 'Why is the general calling me? Am I also in suspicion now? Why am I involved in this matter? Can't my life be easy…'
