Chapter 15

He places his hand on my cheek wiping my tears, then proceeds to hug me. “Thank you.” I’ve had this never ending battle of anxiety, stress and depression but it could come to an end soon. I hope so, it’s one of the freedoms I yearn for. Sometimes it feels like I’m trapped in a cage just constantly getting tortured by my depression. It hurts and no one knows it. I feel so numb inside but now I feel so happy. I can’t help but hug him. His warm body feels me with joy.  A nurse rushes in noticing the heart rate monitor beeps increased and checks my body. “Nothing seems wrong, what happened?” Ace smiles, “I just make her heart race being around her~” The nurse giggles. “Well maybe try not to do that, we don’t want more issues than we already have.” I smile also.

 “I’ll try my best but I can’t make promises.”  laughter fills the dreaded hospital. Slowly but surely my depression disappears. The nurse leaves with a smile. Soon my mother barges in and hugs me tight. “My little princess!!! I was so worried about you!” I look over her shoulder to see my father with his arms crossed leaning against the door frame, giving the worst look possible. “It’s ok mother! I’m fine, thanks to ace.” Father straight up looks at ace and gets more infuriated. “You’re dating an american now?” He is furious over the fact that I’m with an american? “Just go ahead and leave, you are not welcome here. Yong-Cheol.” Ace stands, “I may be american but at least I love her unlike you.” My mother and I are both filled with shock.

I get up to hug him, only for my mother to sit me back down on the hospital bed. "Stay here, I don't want you hurt more than you already are." I let out a small sigh, "Yong-cheol you are not my father, you have no right to judge me." “you dare say I’m not your father!” The migraine almost rushes in immediately.  The pain is intense, it is almost unbearable. “Everyone out.” I can’t stand more than one person in here right now. “Including me?” Ace says confused. “Yes, sorry but i want some alone time.” They nod and leave. Everyone but Yong-cheol. “That is rude, haven’t I taught you manners?” his stare are like knives stabbing into me but it doesn’t bother to me as I am used to them stealy traps. “No, what you have taught me is to never trust anyone, including family.”

He leaves in fiery rage. Good, now he’s gone. I lay back, taking a rest. Letting out a big sigh, fixing my hair, I fall asleep. Later on Ace returns to the room during  my slumber. By the time I wake up, it’s just me and ace in the room once again. “Ace. Did Yong-cheol hurt you at all?” “No. I’m fine. Don’t worry so much about me, little princess.” His hand rubs against the top of my forehead. The sound of a cell phone ringing echoes through the hospital room.I check my phone, my assistant is calling. “Can you please step out while I take this call?” He nods and walks out, closing the door behind him.

I answer the phone with a sigh, I wanted to spend time with Ace but my schedule will be busy soon. “Hello.” “Miss hoi, you have a 1o’clock meeting with the City board over what is to happen next with the company, it almost noon.” “Yes, thanks for the reminder, I will check out of the hospital now. Please prepare the stuff for the meeting. Don’t forget about the catering.” “Yes ma’am.” After hanging up, I get discharged from the hospital and get changed quickly. “Where you heading? You really should rest.” Ace gives me a stare of sit your butt down. “I have an important meeting at 1.”  “Let me drive you there.” I can't help but accept it, I don’t have time to call Gunther or figure out the bus routes or even walk. “Thank you.” “No problem, cutie.” He takes me to the company. “I’ll have to give you a tour of it one day.” “I would love that.” He smiles and waves me goodbye.

I quickly get changed and prepare for the meeting. We decided to help modernize Chicago, as it is rather poor and full of crime. Once the meeting is over I head Home. After a tiring long boring day, I’m Ready for a hot bath. I message Thea and let her know to draw water for a bath for me. Thea and Gunther are like family to me more than my real family. I love them to death. “Yumi, Your bath is ready.” “Thank you Thea. You may go rest now.”  “You’re welcome. I will gladly go take a rest.”

I lay in the warm tub. The hot water makes me feel better.  It is soothing, the hot water relieves me of stress. “Hey Allie, Play my classical  music playlist.” I love instrumentals. These also keep me calm, as you can tell I go through a lot daily that gets me riled up. It helps to unwind and relax. After a while I get out and prepare for bed. As much as I don’t want a maid or butler, I can’t really take care of the house and I don’t want to get rid of Gunther and Thea as they helped raise me.

I can take care of myself just not my house, and it helps to have a helping hand around the house. I also don’t feel lonely like I did right after I lost my sister. After I lost her life was boring and sad, then I ran into Gunther and Thea and felt slightly better. I never fully recovered after losing my sister. I still miss her and the times we had together, so many bright beautiful memories.  They all feel like lost dreams now faded with the rest, never to return to the light. When she died I was taking care of her daughter, Da-Eun. She is so precious to me, and so cute. She looks just like her mother.

I want a child of my own but I don’t think that will happen very soon. Plus once things begin to settle down, I will have to take care of Da-eun. I think it is best her aunt takes care of her as I look a little like her mother. Although people will try and say I had an affair with a man, as long as I get to take care of Da-eun. I get ready for bed and turn the lights off. “Good night everyone!” as routine. I lay in bed reading.  It helps me to get to sleep. Now I enter the world of dreams.
