Chapter 9: The Mask

Most Youtubers have this thing called a mask. It keeps their internet self and real world self separate. It can also be considered makeup as sometimes they look like two completely different people. This also can create the mental illness known as split personality. It is why youtubers must take long breaks at least once or twice a year so they don’t get this illness. I am on my break. When I come back I plan to record the opening ceremony of my company and upload it online. I want all to know of this company I have started. It won’t happen if Hongi Choi, my father takes over. That can happen but I will not let it happen.

I take my rest for the night. By morning I plan to get the Furniture in and settle things with Hongi choi. The furniture arrives by 10 a.m. Everything is put in place, the evening greets us soon. I get in my mustang and ride over to the choi’s residence, where I grew up. Most stuff was left the same when I left but the people have certainly changed. No denying that. “Welcome home young master choi.” Servants greet me, I dispy this. They shouldn’t be called servants but maids, they are treated as peasants yet they aren’t. It disgusts me.

“Please call me Yumi Choi. What is your name?” I treat everyone with respect until they lose it. “My name?” She has never been treated with kindness, it is written all over her face. I give her a smile and a nod. My parents never approved of me getting places other than my ears pierced, so I went and got my nose pierced. They don’t like but they tolerate it. “My name is Tori.” I smile, her name reminds me of a book a read as a child, a book where Tori gives guiding advice to the main character, Tori in the book is a leader. I can feel this Tori will also be a leader one day, a great leader. “Tori, like the one from the book Divergent.” ( by Veronica Roth) She smiles with one of the cutest giggles I have ever heard, “I love that book. It shows we can be something more than what we already are. Also that we can get killed but yet be the person saving everyone.”

Yes divergent heavily addresses these ideas. “Is Hongi Choi here? I have some unfinished business to discuss with him.” “Isn’t he your father? Why not call him father?” I chuckle, “I should call the man who wants me dead father?” She realizes why I am here now, I am here to make a deal. The deal will decide the lives of many. “Ah, understood. Right this way Miss Yumi Choi,” She can’t help but add the miss to it. I don’t mind this time. She leads me through the house, to Hongi choi’s study room. “May I help you?” He removes his glasses from his face and gives us a cold stare. “Sir, Miss yumi choi has returned to discuss something with you.” she bows, all maids must do this to him, it shows respect. That is something he has lost from me, my respect for him.

“Let her in, then you may leave to tend to the house work.” After Tori leaves I shut the door behind her,. “I am not here to give up just so you know that. I am here to make sure you don’t kill me and take over my company. Please, sign this,” I came prepared with a restraining order to file against him and his men. “Putting a restraining order against your father?” “You are not my father. Simply someone trying to take something from me.” “Hmf, child you know nothing of what you say.” I know exactly what I say and he is acting as is if nothing happened. “You put a poison bullet in me yet I still stand before you.” “Yes, my question is how are you still alive?”

“Yes I question that too.” I give him a cold stare as he gives me one back. Just in time, my mother walks in with tea for us. “Hello mother.” “so you will call her mother but not me father?” “She treats me as her daughter unlike you, who tried to kill me. The people you hired fessed up. You won’t get away with it so easily.”

Mother heard my words just now, good she needs to hear them. “Why would you do that!!! She is our child!!!!” She looks as though she is going to be the crap out of him. “I want something of hers and she won’t give it to me!” “You probably don’t deserve it!” They argue for a long time and mother ends up convincing Hongi Choi to give it up since he lost respect from me. “Fine, Yumi I will leave you alone. You are an adult now, I can’t simply take things from you.” I am free. I finally have freedom. I don’t have to worry about being killed anymore! Da-Eun you will soon have a family!

After that I hug both of them and take my leave. I had to the company building to have someone install security cameras. I was waiting to hear that I wasn’t going to be worried about when I might die anymore. This feels me with joy, so much that I want to tell ace about it. I know better than to do that. If I were to do that I would probably not be able to be alone. I need to get work done so being alone is okay. I get everything set up. All the computers are put together. The gaming room is my favorite part of all the floors. We have a very modern theme to every floor. Each floor is themed to fit what we do there.

The gaming station has a lot of expensive equipment. If someone robs us we are kinda screwed, I spent most of my money in this project. I start recording the tour of the building. “Hey! Guys, Yumi here! So some big things have happened. You may notice I am not starting this where I normally start, well I started this project about a year ago. I have kept this all from you to announce it as a come back type thing. Well this is my big project that I took a break to work on! This is my entertainment company I started! I put a ton of money in it.” I show nearly everything. I only get to half of it.

“Well guys, this is going to be in 2 parts as this place is really big and I don’t want to cut too much out. Thank you all for watching and I will see you guys in the next video! Byeee!” I stop the recording and take it to the editors floor and edit the video, making it look better. Work, work work is all I do. I can’t stop. I have to get this done. My video is scheduled to come out next week. I can’t get behind at all. If I do I won’t be able to upload everyday.

I finish with my work, and decide to head out for dinner. I skipped lunch and breakfast. I don’t mind doing that, it just means I am going to have a big dinner. eating out isn’t healthy but I don’t feel like having a home cooked meal today. I refuse to go to fast food restaurants even if I am forced to, I would rather starve. It is that unhealthy here. I head to a fancy restaurant just past the building I was in. “Hello Miss, how many is there today?” “Just me.” “Ok follow me please.” I take a seat by myself, looking at the menu. I want the stuff with the lowest amount of calories. One salad and grilled chicken sandwich is the best option, with homemade chips.

After paying I head home and prepare for a swim. I swim every night when I can before going to bed to sleep. It helps keep me in shape. Just as I head to the pool Ace shows up. “Man, do you look sexy.” This line just makes me jump and wrap my towel around me. “ACE!! What are you doing here?!?!” My face feels with heat. “I came to see how you are, sense I didn’t see you after you left yesterday.” I sigh, “Welp I am fine and everything is cleared up with my father so you don’t have to worry anymore.” He hugs me, giving me a big wide smile. I feel my feet leave the ground and the world spins. “This is great!”

We smile and fill with joy. “Do you have a swimsuit with you?” I don’t know why but I want to spend time with him. What is this feeling, I have never felt this before. “Yeah, I don’t know why but i always keep one in my car.” I smile, “Want to join me?” He smiles back, “Of course I want to join you.”
