Chapter 13 - Jealousy Is As Dangerous As A Blade

Lord Reo was early to his war council the next morning. His expression seemed grim and disturbing. Everyone took their seats and as Arte entered the room, he immediately felt the tension. "My Lord, where's Mimi? Wasn't she supposed to join us-" "She isn't to leave her manor anymore." He said it in such a stern voice that Hiroto didn't dare ask why.

"Trouble in paradise? Marriage is never an easy job, Lord Reo. May I inquire why Lady Mimi is being punished?" Chiba asked. He frowned. "She was gallivanting around with another man yesterday. She had to learn her lesson." Arte frowned. "My Lord, she wasn't. She was with me the whole time yesterday! I even walked her back to her manor, there's no way she could have seen another man."

He then snarled. "Then, I wonder who the man was." His eyes went wide, then averted them from his Lord's gaze. "Under no circumstance are any one of you to approach my wife." Edamura gave out a disappointed sigh. "What a shame. I was going to bring these new cakes from the new bakery down the town to her." Chiba sighed. "She promised that she'd show me the twenty most effective methods of torture and how to use them. What a pity..."

"She told me that she'd visit the orphans down the city today. They were really looking forward to meet her." Hearing all of these plans that I had made with his vessels and not him. He threw his cup of sake across the room, making it smash against the wall. Everyone, even Chiba, looked at their Lord, shocked.

"What right do you have to talk and make plans with my wife? She's mine, understood? She should come with me and only have eyes for me." They looked at their Lord, who was normally so nonchalant about everything, having a jealousy attack. His eyes were tense and the desire of possession was so immense that his body couldn't keep up with it.

"My Lord..." Hiroto spoke up. "Lady Mimi did not want to ask you because she believed that you were busy and should concentrate on your duties as Lord. She wanted to occupy herself while being considerate to your health and responsibilities." His eyes then softened. Chiba then grinned and spoke "Her words were exactly 'He promised to show me the world, but only when he is ready to take a break will I let him show it to me!'. She said it with such a disappointed smile, it almost made my heart ache... well, that is if I had one or not."

"She... was worried about me?" He remembered my words. " 'Let's explore the world together! I want you to show me places that I could only dream of, Reo!' " He suddenly felt bad. No, he felt more than bad. He felt broken inside. After he forced himself onto me, he knew that I was going to feel broken too. Getting up out of his chair, Chiba grinned. "Where are you going, My Lord? The war council is about to begin..."

"I've got to see my wife. I excuse myself from the war council today. Hiroto, complete all of the work that I will have to do today. I'm going to spend the whole day and night with my wife!" Arte's expression flinched at the word 'night' as his Lord left. He's right... he shouldn't even try pursuing me. In Reo's eyes, I was more important than any amount of money or land. Without me, he'd fall apart completely.
