Chapter 4 - The Steamy Wedding Night

It took us many hours to get back to Lord Reo's castle. The whole way there, the army sung and chanted songs. This sure is different from a world without cars or trains! As I looked around, Lord Reo looked down at me and my sparkling eyes. He immediately felt the need to kiss me. Just as he was about to do that however, his subordinate, Hiroto Tachibana, spoke up.

"Please, My Lord. Allow me to get another horse for the woman. She might be an assassin sent by-" "Nonsense. She is my wife now. If she wanted to kill me, she could have done it ages ago." That's true. I've read texts on female ninjas and assassins trained by a certain lord. Not only did he enjoy the company of them but they could retrieve information more easily than a man could. It was a smart technique and to this day, it is used.

I looked into the clear blue sky and frowned. "It's going to rain soon." Hiroto chuckled. "It's not. There isn't a cloud in sight." I shook my head. "Nope, the atmosphere feels dense. Not only that but the earth seems dry. The clouds are absorbing the moisture as we speak." He titled his head, curious as to what I entailed. Hiroto didn't seem as convinced however. "Is this another one of your witch tricks?"

Witch? He thinks that I'm a witch? Witch, assassin, make up your mind! "It's not witchcraft. It's simple atmospheric science." He seemed a little more interested but didn't speak up about it. And just as we arrived to his palace, the rain started to pelt down. "Witchcraft!" Hiroto told me, but Lord Reo smiled and declared "Fascinating..."

As soon as we arrived to his stables, Lord Reo picked me off of the horse and started to carry me across the courtyard. "U-Um, where are you taking me?" He grinned and didn't answer. We past by many people until we reached his private quarters, where he threw me onto his soft bed.

My heart quickened as he jumped on top of me, his hands running down my leg. "The maids will prepare you. Don't even think about running away from me, the palace is surrounded by my private shadow guards." I believed him... I believed him entirely.

Just as he got off of the bed, maids came in with bundles of silk and beautiful kimonos. "Dress my wife up accordingly. She shall be serving me tonight." The maids bowed and immediately walked towards me. The man left the room, which made me even more nervous than before. I didn't protest as the maids brushed my hair, put makeup on my face and dressed me in red wedding robes.

I waited and waited on the bed, the veil covering my face. I was starving and very sleepy. Then, the doors opened and I stood up straight, terribly nervous. What did "serve me" entail? He probably wanted me to serve him a drink. Then, I felt the veil lifting and in front of me was Lord Reo. He grinned and lifted my chin up into the air to get a better look at me.

"Indeed, you look more beautiful than any woman I've ever seen. You shall serve me in bed tonight quite well." Hold on, in bed???
