Chapter 16 - The Orphanage

"Are you sure that it's okay that I tag along?" Hiroto and I, after a long talk with Reo, finally got his permission to go to the orphanage in the city to visit the children. Apparently, they were desperately asking to see their beautiful Princess.

"Don't worry," Hiroto told me while he lugged bags filled with toys. "They've been expecting you. They'd be disappointed if you didn't show up." I chuckled. "Not only are you a mother hen to Reo but to orphans too. You are a busy man, Hiroto." He shook his head and smiled melancholically. "No... it's because that place was where I grew up. Lord Reo and I became friends when he came to visit the orphanage once he became the Lord of this nation at only thirteen years old. He was an amazing ruler and never wavered, not even once. I really admired him!"

Seems like his dedication for Reo runs deep into his roots. As soon as we arrived on the street where the orphanage was situated, little heads started to run right towards us. Hiroto put out his arms, ready to receive a hug but all of the children ran towards me and started to hug my legs.

"Wow! She's so pretty!" "Princess! A real Princess!" "Can I become your male concubine?" I then started to chuckle cutely and patted everyone's heads. "Aren't you all just adorable? Could someone show me where I could find some children hungry for presents?" Immediately, they started to jump up and down, more excited and happier than before. I couldn't help but smile.

They brought me into their courtyard and the women who looked after them immediately bowed when I walked in. "Princess Takahashi... you honour our humble residence with your visit." I smiled and waved my hand. "Please rise. You don't have to bow to me and please, just call me Mimi. I'd prefer that." They both bowed and immediately agreed to my request. A little girl then tugged on my skirt, making me look down.

"Miss Princess?" I smiled and knelt down, petting her head. "And what's your name?" She smiled. "Misa." I smiled. "It's nice to meet you, Misa. My name is Mimi, but my real name is Michelle. Our names are similar, aren't they?" She nodded and then looked at me, her eyes sparkling. "Are you going to stay here all day? For the whole day until bedtime?" She seemed hopeful, and I'd hate to disappoint her.

"Sure! I'll stay here until bedtime! Just so that I can sing Misa a song before she goes to sleep!" She then jumped up and down, thrilled. "The Princess is going to stay all day! This is the best birthday present ever!" So it's her birthday too. I then turned around and snorted with laughter when I saw Hiroto on the floor, being wrestled down by six boys a tenth of his size.

"H-Hey, don't bite my arm! That's against the rules! Ouch, okay guys! I've got games to play. How do you expect me to do that if I'm on the ground?" Like obedient little pups, the boys jumped off of him and let him stand up. He then looked at me and something took over him when he saw my sweet giggles. "You really are a mother hen, Hiroto." At that moment, he started to enter the forbidden realm that he should never had stepped into. However, it was hard to stop when the person who was making him enter this realm was that cute!
