"Chime!"
[MBB = 84,473,992]
[P = 165]
As the metallic chime echoed in his mind, the MBB bar decreased and the P bar increased by fifteen points. Noah felt quite satisfied with the outcome.
This further convinced him that his System was truly operational.
"Good heavens!"
Alice was astonished by what she saw. She had just received a notification on her phone that someone named Noah Evans had transferred fifteen million dollars into her account.
"Noah! You can't be serious... No! This isn't happening..." Alice was at a loss for words.
Noah glanced at Alice's phone screen. "Great. It looks like it's already—"
He couldn't finish his sentence because, suddenly, Alice embraced him.
"Noah! Thank you. You've just saved my family legacy. Thank you so much. You're my hero!"
"Miss Sanders... I... Emph"
Alice hugged him so tightly, Noah struggled to breathe, unintentionally her head pulled to rest against her bosom.
"Oh! Sorry... I apologize," she exclaimed as redness crept onto Noah's face when she released him. However, it seemed Alice hadn't noticed.
"Ahem... Miss Sanders. Perhaps you should attend to your matters first."
"Oh, yes, yes. One moment. Don't go anywhere," said Alice, looking at her phone while pointing at it.
"Please, go ahead. I'll just take a look around."
Noah left Alice, who seemed busy trying to make a call. Meanwhile, he began exploring the ground floor of the Club.
He still wondered what led Alice into such debt when she owned a Club of this size.
However, now he was less concerned. After all, he wanted to help and to further test his System.
"Noah, uh... I mean, Mr. Evans..."
Alice hesitated to address Noah by his first name. Seeing how effortlessly Noah had resolved her problem, she presumed the young man before her must have an unusual background.
Especially since Noah banked with an international bank, one that served individuals of high status. In Silverstone, there were only a few who might have an account there.
Alice deduced that perhaps Noah had been concealing his background for some reason.
"Miss Sanders, there's no need to be uneasy. Just call me as you usually would. Okay?"
Alice nodded slowly, swallowing hard. "Al-alright then."
Noah suddenly remembered something important. He needed to find a place to stay. "Miss Sanders, if there's nothing else, I should be going."
However, as he was about to step past her, Alice held him back.
"Noah, wait. What about the Club? As I've said, now that you've redeemed it, you're its owner."
"Regarding that... hmm... We can discuss it later. But for now, I really must be going."
As Noah set off again, Alice stopped him once more. "What about our agreement, uh... I mean, don't you have any conditions?"
For a moment, Alice feared what Noah might request, thinking of the promise she had made to him.
Her heart raced as Noah looked her straight in the eyes. She was almost certain he would ask for what she had promised.
"Miss Sanders, I would greatly appreciate it if you kept it to yourself that I was the one who helped you. At least, for the time being. Is that okay?"
Alice blinked rapidly. "That's all? I mean, you don't want anything else?"
She couldn't believe that was all Noah wanted. Unintentionally, she had implied there might be more.
"Well, we can talk about the rest later. For now, I need to leave. Excuse me."
"Noah, let me escort you!"
* * * *
"Noah, where are you? I've been waiting for you. But you haven't come back."
"Robert, sorry, I'll swing by tomorrow. I got tied up today."
"I see. Bro, about Silvia—"
Before Robert could finish, Noah interrupted.
"Robert, I'll tell you in person tomorrow. But since you called, I might as well tell you now. I've found a new place to live, sorry for not informing you sooner. Tomorrow, I'll come for my things."
"..."
"Hello, Robert. Can you hear me?"
"Yes. Yes, I hear you. Alright then. So, where will you be staying from now on?"
Noah looked around briefly and shook his head. "About that, I'll tell you later. Okay?"
He quickly hung up the phone.
"Huff... That was close," he muttered to himself.
"Who was that? Your roommate?"
Noah was startled when Alice suddenly spoke from behind. He turned abruptly and shrugged slightly.
"Yes. Robert, a friend."
Alice crossed her arms in front of her and leaned against the door. "Noah, if you're not comfortable, you can switch rooms with me. Or..."
"No! No!... Miss Sanders, this room is already quite comfortable for me." Noah's response was swift.
"Okay, then. I'll leave you to yourself. Make yourself at home."
"Thank you, Miss Sanders."
"Noah, as I've told you. You can call me Alice. After all, you're now my boss."
Alice had mentioned it several times, but Noah seemed indifferent. To her, he appeared preoccupied.
"Oh, right. Sorry, I forgot. Okay then, Alice. Thank you."
After that, Alice turned around and left Noah alone in the room.
She was briefly taken aback when Noah declared he would seek his own living quarters as she had insisted on accompanying him wherever he wished to go.
It reminded her that she had met Noah in front of an upscale apartment building.
She speculated Noah intended to purchase a unit there, but due to their encounter, he had used the money to bail out her Club.
Feeling she had inconvenienced him, Alice offered her apartment for Noah to stay in, which he initially declined.
But with a little persuasion, as the day waned, Noah acquiesced, though just temporarily until he found his own place.
And this is where Noah now resided, in one of the two rooms within Alice's apartment.
Moments earlier, Alice had playfully suggested they share a bedroom, but again, Noah had swiftly refused. For some reason, this only piqued Alice's curiosity about the young man.
'Could he really be inexperienced?' she wondered to herself.
Meanwhile, in the room, Noah repeatedly muttered the word "chime." No matter how many times he tried, the panel filled with bars kept appearing.
"Ah, it truly works," he said contently. But shortly after, he pondered something.
"If it's like this, I need to find the right way to spend my MBB. Otherwise, it's going to be very dangerous. I don't want to perish from being too rich. That would be utterly ridiculous."
He considered various ways to spend the money. But since he had never spent more than a thousand dollars in a month, coming up with a plan to dispose of a hundred million dollars within one month, without drawing undue attention, was beyond his comprehension.
"Ah, what should I do?"
Noah looked somewhat disheartened. But then, a notification for a message popped up on his phone.
He quickly checked it, frowning slightly at the sender's name. "Lucy?"
For some reason, he opened it immediately. A small part of him hoped the girl had reconsidered.
After all, he was wealthy now, he was certain he could make Lucy happier than Greg ever could.
"I've placed all the things you previously gave me next to the trash bin outside my dormitory. If you don't pick them up soon, the janitor will take them away. Do not reply to this message, and never try to contact me again."
