Because Of Who I Am

Back in the Empire Capital.

The Empress was in a rage after finding out just what happened. "What do you mean she decided to go to the village? Have you forgotten who she is and who her family is?"

"Your Highness, I swear Lady Adolphus rejected all our help. She won't even take the soldiers with her." The Steward explained as he trembled in fear sensing the Empress strong aura resurfacing.

"Please your Highness, I'm sure Lady Adolphus is fine. We can send people to check on her." One of the court Lord said.

"It's already a week since we sent her to the North do you all think she is still alive. She can barely walk, yet you made her walk such a long distance and at such time." The Empress became more enraged thinking if whether the child was still alive or not. "You all better keep this a secret from the Emperor. I shall explain it to him personally. If something has happened to the child we are all dead."

"Your Highness, she is a sickly child anyway. Sooner or later she would have passed away." An old man dressed in white robes holding onto a wooden staff explained.

"Even if she is to pass away, it's best if she did in her own well not because we all pushed her to her death. If Lord Adolphus is to find out about this, there will be war, especially her mother is a princess of another kingdom who is loved by the king." The Empress sighed as she collapsed in her chair.

"Then what should we do your Highnes?" The Steward asked

"Pray that she is alive."

As the court lord left the empress office, the queen drags the steward who took Athena to the North away.

"Tell me what happened?" The Queen asked, seeing everyone gloomy expression.

"Lady Athena decided to stay in the village and I don't know if she's still alive or not."

"What? Didn't Duchess Castelius arranged everything for her asking the Empress to let her stay at least at their residence."

The Steward wiped the sweat on his forehead, "Yes, everything was arranged by the duchess already, but for some reason Lady Adolphus decided to go on her own and didn't even take the soldiers with her."

"The Empress is now upset knowing the child might not be alive anymore since she set off late that night in the village. The fact she can barely walk on her own, how would a fragile girl survive on her own."

The Queen did not expect such a situation has arisen, she just needs to confirm everything for herself. "Very well then, I'll go see the Empress."

The Queen step inside the Empress office and can sense the strong aura surfacing all over the room. "My dear sister it is not appropriate for the Empress to just let her aura let loose."

The Empress chuckled and glared at the Queen, "Are you happy? Didn't you wish for that child to die since you despise her so much to be your son's bride. Now you got what you want and it will be my head that will pay for that price."

"I do not understand what you mean?" The Queen calm down and keep the same composure.

"I ain't a fool as what you think, I have not become the empress, just because of my family but because of who I am. Unlike you who climb the Emperor's chamber just to stand where you are now."

The Queen clenched her fist digging her nails to her palm. "If you excuse me sister, I'll let you rest for now."

When the Queen arrived at her private chamber, she threw the vase across the room. She was furious as she flashes back the hurtful words the empress said.

"Climb his bed, that arrogant woman who does she think she is."

She quickly went to her desk and started writing something. Her expression was filled with hatred and malice as if something horrible is about to happen.

Meanwhile, Athena was healing some of the wounded and sick people. This time she was able to restore two broken parts before collapsing from exhaustion.

"My lady, are you sure your fine?" Serfred watched as the girl continued to cough heavily.

"I'm fine, don't worry."

But her next cough alarmed both of them when bloody coughed out as well. Serfred froze when he saw the blood and didn't know what to do. As the girl cough more blood out, he then snaps back to his senses.

"You're not fine, why did you have to push yourself when you know this might happen." Serfred yelled as he grabs the girl's hand and cleaned the blood on her lips.

Athena grabs both Serfred trembling hands, as she then touches the man face gently turning his attention towards her as she stared into his eyes. "It's not that I'm pushing myself, it's my body that's giving up on me. The more I push myself the more I'll know my limitation this is just the consequence of it. One can never know how strong they are if they don't push themselves."

"But you don't need to do that, I'll be here for you no matter what." Serfred yelled as he grabs the girl by her shoulders as he collapsed on his knees.

Athena was taken aback from what she just heard, such declaration from someone who does not even know who she, it yet he was willing to risk everything for her sake. "Serfed, I'm sorry... I didn't mean to hurt you at all."

"If you're truly sorry, please don't let me see you like this again. You don't know how much you mean to me after you gave me this new life." Serfred did not dare look at the girl as he continued to look down on the ground on his knees.

Athena held the man's face and gazed into his eyes, "I swear I'll be careful. So can you please look at me and stop worrying."
