Episode # 8
It was late, and the hotel lobby was quiet.
Kai stood by the front door, ready to leave for the night.
He had his coat on his car keys in hand. As he turned to walk out, he noticed Liv standing by the hallway.
She was carefully folding towels and placing them in a room.
Kai paused for a moment, but then decided not say anything.
He stepped outside into the cool night air and made his way to his car.
As he was about to get in, he saw dark clouds gathering above. It looked like it was going to rain soon.
The taxis outside were starting to leave for the night too.
Kai stood there for a moment thinking.
Should he have said something to her? Told her stop working so late? Taking overnight work?
But she looked like she was almost done. Maybe she was just finishing up and heading home.
He shook his head and got into his car, closing the door behind him.
He started the engine, placed one hand on the wheel...
...but instead of driving off, he watched her from the car. From a distance, he saw her finish her work and start walking towards the exit.
She didn't notice him as she stepped outside.
Kai continued to watch as he waved down a taxi. After a few moments, the taxi pulled away, and she was gone.
He sat in the car, the rain beginning to fall softly.
He thought about how hard she must be working and wondered if she was okay.
But there was nothing more he could do. He signed and finally drove off into the night.
He arrived at his mansion, the rain now pouring down heavily.
He parked his car and hurried inside, shaking off the water from his coat
As he stepped into the grand foyer, Pamela appeared out of nowhere and grabbed his arm.
Pamela Faire
Kai, I need to talk to you.
She said urgently, pulling him into a nearby room.
Before he could react, she smashed her lips against his. Kai gently pushed her away, confusion and concern in his eyes.
Kai Thompson (ML)
Pamela, what are you doing?
Without a word, she kissed him again, more desperately this time. Kai stopped her, his voice pleading.
Kai Thompson (ML)
Please... please, were friends.
Pamela didn't listen, her determination unwavering. Kai pushed her away more forcefully, and she stumbled back, falling to the floor.
Frustration and anger surged through him.
Kai Thompson (ML)
Pamela, we're friends! Get that in your head. I don't see you that way, and you shouldn't see me that way either. Please, stop trying.
Pamela looked up at him, her eyes filled with hurt. Kai took a deep breath, trying to calm himself.
Kai Thompson (ML)
I care about you, but not like this. We need to respect our friendship.
Pamela nodded slowly, tears welling up in her eyes. Kai helped her to her feet, his expression softening.
Kai Thompson (ML)
Let's just take a step back and think about this, okay.
Kai stood there for a moment, taking one last look at Pamela before walking out of the room.
Pamela stayed standing. Her phone buzzed in her hand, breaking the silence.
She glanced at the screen. It was a message from her mother.
Ren Faire (Palema's mom)
📲 *her message*
I told you, the baby was the only way to keep him to yourself.
Her heart skipped a beat. She quickly typed back.
Pamela Faire
📱*typing*
I don't want a baby. 😟
A few seconds later, her mother's reply came.
Ren Faire (Palema's mom)
📲 * her message*
Well, we had found the girl to carry the baby for you, but you changed. Now your plans aren't working.
Pamela's fingers hovered over the screen for a moment. She typed slowly.
Pamela Faire
📱*typing*
They'll work, mom. 😔
Her phone buzzed again, this time with a harsh reply.
Ren Faire (Palema's mom)
📲 * her message*
I hope you got rid of that girl, and the baby because she's carrying his child.
Pamela's breath caught in her throat. She stared at the message, thinking about Liv and the life growing inside her.
She bit her lip before typing back, her thoughts racing.
Pamela Faire
📱* typing*
If the girl left as I said, and got rid of the baby, then everything will be fine.
She hit send, feeling a cold shiver run down her spine.
Her mother's message came in quickly.
Ren Faire (Palema's mom)
📲 *her message*
You should've killed her with the baby, instead. I didn't trust that girl.😒 if she listened to you and got rid of the baby, then everything will be fine for us.
Pamela stood there by herself thoughtfully hoping Liv listened to her and followed her instructions.
