"Why are you so worried about my fidelity now? Those who cheat end up being cheated on too. But thank God, I don't carry that karma. I only carry a child, and I promise you, James, he will never miss having an imbecile father like you!" Kate says, and James ignores her. He wanted so badly to believe her, but jealousy wouldn't let him, jealousy wouldn't let him see the truth.

Upon arriving at the garage, James puts Kate down and opens the door for her, but instead of accepting, Kate opens the back door and gets in.

James knocks on the window until she opens it and says,

"Do you think I'm your personal driver? Get out and sit in the front seat!"

"And aren't you acting like it? We've been together for three years and you haven't learned anything about me, or rather, you've never been interested. We are a couple of strangers to each other. That's the truth."

"Okay, I know I screwed up, I wasn't the best husband in the world, but that doesn't mean I never thought about getting to know you better, I never thought about making it all real. Kate, I'm very disappointed in you, there's a lump in my throat that won't go away! My chest is burning with anger and disappointment..."

"I don't want to know about your feelings, just drive!" Kate says, turning her face away.

James is outraged by Kate's coldness. He slams the door, angry for having started to open up to her and her completely ignoring his feelings.

He got into the car and put his hand on the steering wheel, looked in the rearview mirror, and saw Kate still with her face turned, avoiding his gaze.

"You never did anything to make things work either, I think only my mother believed that lie. At least I was honest in saying that Miranda existed... If you had told me about Edward, I would never have fallen for you."

For a second, Kate looked in the rearview mirror, and for a second, she felt they should clear things up, but then she gave up, thinking she'd heard enough from James, that if he really wanted to clear anything up, he wouldn't keep throwing accusations around.

She leaned her head against the glass and remained silent, looking outside, ignoring him.

Giving up, James started the car, he thought the whole situation was making him too weak. His mother had passed away, and all he wanted now was a shoulder to cry on, all he wanted was to hug Kate and smell her scent. But for that, he would have to swallow his pride...

As soon as they arrived at the hospital door, Kate got out without saying goodbye. To her surprise, she was approached by Edward, who appeared out of nowhere.

"Kate! Are you okay? They told me they saw you running out of here, dragging yourself. Kate, you have to be careful, not just for the baby, but for your life too!"

Kate looks at James, her eyes wide, she wasn't expecting Edward to show up like that and start talking about the baby out of nowhere, hugging her. She even found it strange because he didn't use to be like that, so dramatic.

James growled, slammed his hand on the steering wheel, stepped on the gas pedal, and sped away.

Kate looked at Edward, still lost, and asked,

"Baby? How do you know I'm pregnant?"

"Oh, well... it was in your chart."

"No, it wasn't. I asked Theresa not to put it in my chart because I didn't want this news spreading around the hospital now."

Kate pulls away from Edward's embrace and steps back.

"She must have forgotten and put it in."

"Right! So, I'll go get that chart!" Kate says, turning around and walking quickly towards the hospital door.

"Kate, wait!" Edward yells, and Kate turns to him. "I lied, I didn't see it in the chart. I saw the test you were carrying when you passed out and I helped you."

With furrowed brows, Kate slowly walks up to Edward, and stopping in front of him, she says,

"That day you told me you didn't know what was wrong with me."

"Okay, you got me. I lied again because I didn't want to invade your privacy..."

"But you did invade it!"

"I just wanted to know what was wrong with you, if it was anything serious! Look, my father is your legal guardian, and he asked me to keep an eye on you."

"I'm of legal age now, so I don't need a guardian anymore."

"But you continued leaving your responsibilities to him."

"Yes, that's true... but that will change soon." Kate turned and walked away, not waiting for Edward.

She was a little suspicious upon discovering that he had lied. Thinking about his behavior, she thought he had been acting strangely lately.

Even though she knew he hadn't seen the pregnancy on the chart, she checked the chart, and it really didn't mention pregnancy, just dizziness due to stress.

Kate should have stayed in her room, she knew she needed to rest and maybe get some nutrients intravenously, but instead, she took the elevator and went to the security center.

Upon arriving, she presented an authorization she had to see the camera footage.

Suspicious of Edward's lies, she asked to see the recordings from Edward's office on the day James claimed to have seen her kissing Edward.

Edward had told her that the cameras were off at the time everything happened, and it appeared to be true, as the camera operator couldn't find the recordings.

Thoughtful and unsatisfied, Kate asked to see the recordings around Edward's office before James entered.

Then she saw James walking down the hall, approaching some people and seemingly asking something, and she saw Edward looking in James's direction and entering his office shortly before James entered.

This didn't prove much, but Edward had acted very strangely, according to Kate. She thought maybe she shouldn't trust her professor and colleague anymore.
