Episode 9

What would she do now?

Kate had thought a lot about how she would react to this news, but she froze for a moment.

Sara.

Sara should be the first to know, but Kate was so emotional that she left the lab with the test in her hand. She walked with her head down, her ears ringing and her stomach churning.

Her nose started to get sensitive and every smell of hospital cleaning products made her dizzy and nauseous.

Even so, she continued until she bumped into someone's body, whose face she couldn't quite make out, because when she went to look, she realized that her vision was blurred and her legs were wobbly like jelly.

She couldn't hear what the person was saying, only the ringing that got louder and louder, until everything went dark…

James rolled over in bed, looking for Kate, wanting to wrap his arms around her small body and squeeze her until she complained.

But to his surprise, he only found an emptiness beside him.

Disconcerted, he got up, wondering why she was there. He had asked her to spend the day at home this time and he hoped they would get to know each other better, talk and he would take her for a walk and do things they had never done.

He thought she had the same intention, but after searching the entire house for her, he thought their relationship wasn't a priority in Kate's life...

James felt rejected, a terrible feeling. His frequent good humor was gone and his expression showed it.

He went to his room and got ready, deciding that he would not leave things as they were. He would go to the hospital to look for Kate and would not give up on spending the day with her.

Finally, he sprayed on his cologne, chose one of his gold watches and styled his hair with his fingers and left immediately for the hospital.

Upon arriving, James went straight to the front desk, asking for Kate. The receptionist, used to seeing James around and because everyone in the hospital knew that Kate had a very close relationship with James' mother, told him where Kate's office was located.

James immediately went there, finding the place empty.

A short distance from Kate's office, Edward saw James come out of it and approach a nurse. He didn't hear what James said, but from the way he was gesturing, Edward knew James was looking for Kate.

After observing him thoughtfully, he decided to go back to his office, Kate was there, lying on the bed where he used to examine some patients.

She was unconscious and Edward had put her on an IV to recover.

He looks at Kate's test, seeing that the result was positive.

Edward shakes his head, he was adamantly against all that.

Thinking about this, he lifts Kate up until she is sitting, he sits behind her and rests her head in his hand. Afterwards, Edward kisses her unconscious.

He continues until the door opens. Edward pretends he didn't see and continues kissing, while James sees everything.

James feels his blood boil, he loses control and goes after Edward, he pulls him by the shirt, making him release Kate and punches him hard in the nose.

Edward falls with his hand to his nose and James gets on top of him and starts punching him in the nose, he couldn't see anything, he just felt anger.

When James pulled Edward off of Kate, Kate ended up falling to the floor and that startled her awake.

It took her a few seconds to understand what was happening, she was in Edward's office, her vein was hurting from the IV being ripped out suddenly, and James was on top of Edward punching him in the face.

"Oh my God! James! James, stop it! — without understanding much, Kate reacted immediately and ran to help Edward.

She tries to pull James by his shirt, trying to get him to stop.

"James, stop it! Please stop..."

At that moment, in a sudden movement, James tries to free himself from Kate and pushes her. She is thrown backwards and hits a dresser, causing several objects to fall on top of her, she defends herself by putting her hand up to her face and screams, feeling the cut as a scalpel grazes her arm.

This makes James wake up from his outburst of anger and look at Kate.

He feels an urge to go and help her, but he remembers what he saw, he remembers seeing Kate and Edward kissing. He felt betrayed, he felt like an idiot for being there wanting to pick her up for a romantic day out.

He figured that now he understood why Kate went to the hospital every day and stayed there all day, she wasn't working, she was cheating on him right under his nose.

Kate doesn't understand, but she feels the icy chill of James' gaze, who lets go of Edward, unconscious, gets up, looks at her in disgust, and then walks away, slamming the door.
