Gael knows that his greatest wealth is his mother, she always fought hard for him to have a good life and she achieved that, until she got sick.
"Don't worry about it, Mom, I'm fine now, if all goes well, I'll have a job tomorrow."
He got up with some effort and disguising himself so that she wouldn't realize that he was still in pain.
In the morning, Dona Iris woke up her son, it wasn't as early as the other time. She felt a tightness in her chest, but she knew that the fear was irrational.
Gael woke up a little startled and saw that it was just his mother waking him up, he got up, with considerable effort.
He prepared to go to Magestic again, it even seemed like Deja vu, but he soon silenced the fear and anxiety that were building up inside him.
When he arrived in front of the company, he felt extremely relieved, first because nothing had happened, this time it had arrived in one piece and then because his cracked rib was killing him.
He felt like his lung was being crushed, but he took a deep breath and resisted.
There at the entrance to the company, there were some sofas and armchairs scattered around a few points. Gael sneaked over to the one closest to him and sat down to catch his breath before continuing on his way.
As he stood there for a while, one of the receptionists approached him and asked:
"Good morning! Can I help you, sir?"
He took a deep breath and replied to the lady with the friendly face.
"I just needed to catch my breath."
The woman smiled enthusiastically at him and continued:
"If you're having trouble, just tell me where you're going and I can help you get there."
"Well, I have an interview at HR."
"If you tell me your name it will be much faster."
"Gael Silva."
Smiling, the woman walked away and went back to the reception desk. A few minutes later, she returned and said:
"Follow me, please."
Gael got up and followed the woman to the elevator, he was in pain, so he paid no attention to the button the woman pressed. He just closed his eyes and took a deep breath, even now realizing that it wasn't a good idea to leave the house in the state he was in.
When the elevator opened, there was another young lady as aligned and friendly as the one at the reception. Who directed him to a room.
The pain was so great that Gael was just concentrating on sitting up straight, as soon as the head of HR appeared, he would ask to leave. If they didn't accept that he would come back another day, so be it.
Ravier knew it would be a bit of an uphill battle, but he has to convince Gael to stay at his company, which will clearly have a clause where he can't sue him for the accident that happened.
When he entered the room, he realized something was wrong. Gael was pale and had a pained expression, he's not well, it was quite clear on his face.
"What's wrong with you?"
Gael can't even make out who is in the room, in a desperate act, he gets up and tries to leave, but he feels his foot fail and when he expected the thud as he hit the ground, he is held by someone strong enough to stop him from falling to the ground.
When he looked up, he saw the last face before losing consciousness, almost in disbelief.
Ravier carried Gael with some difficulty to the sofa there, the boy is not athletic, but he is not small either. He felt a little uncomfortable noticing this in a guy.
You'd think he was checking out women, but the truth is, Ravier never stopped to give anyone a second look.
After placing Gael on the sofa, he called the reception desk and said:
"Send a doctor to my office immediately, it's an emergency."
After the call Ravier ran his hands over his head, this guy can't die here, if that happens, it will look very bad in the press.
He sat down next to Gael and checked his vital signs, he was breathing, just remaining with the pained expression.
It didn't take long for the doctor to arrive, after all, it wasn't every day that the Magestic infirmary received a call from the CEO.
As soon as the doctor arrived, he stood up and pointed at Gael.
"He has a fractured rib and didn't follow the rest, so I think we should start there."
"You can leave it to me, sir."
Gradually Gael regained consciousness and the doctor examined him, with the recommendation that he return home and continue to rest.
Ravier faced him harshly and said without any emotion in his voice:
"What are you doing here? Shouldn't you be resting?"
"Easier said than done, Mr. Valente."
"What's so hard? Just sit your ass at home."
"Don't talk to me like that... You... You don't know anything."
Gael's voice failed, because he was still in pain.
"What I do know is that I offered you help and you refused, like every poor person, you are proud, apparently that has gotten you nowhere so far."
"Shut up."
Gael never thought he would be saying such a thing to the all-powerful Ravier Valente, but this man took away all the composure and education his mother had ever taught him.
Without warning, Ravier left the room and when he reappeared, he was carrying a wheelchair, then he accommodated Gael there.
"What are you doing?"
"Taking you home."
"One of your employees can do that, I'm sure."
"Yes, and tomorrow I'll see my face plastered all over the newspapers: 'Magestic CEO abuses man he ran over'. No thanks, I have too much to lose."
They went down in Ravier's private elevator and the man took him home. When they arrived in front of Gael's house, he just opened the car door, not wanting to see Ravier's face ever again in his life. But, before he could get out, Ravier said:
"In two weeks, you start as my assistant, at Magestic."
Gael turned to him and said:
"I don't want to."
"Then why did you go there today?"
"I need a job, but I'm learning that being around you is not good for me."
Ravier pulled the door shut with force and said:
"Don't be silly, you and your mother need this job. My company has a good health plan, I'm sure your mother doesn't have one."
"You can't buy me."
"I don't want to, it's quid pro quo, I just want to make sure you don't go to the press."
"Isn't my word enough?"
Ravier looked Gael straight in the eye and said:
"Don't run away like a scared kitten, be a fat lazy cat, sit at my feet so I can pet you."
