It had been a month since Gael had been hired, it had been a month of ups and downs.
Days when Ravier was a normal boss, like all the others, and days when he was like a raging demon.
He was already able to identify the good days from the bad, just by the way Ravier walked to his office when he arrived.
Today would be the day the health plan doctors would determine his mother's entire treatment and he was anxious, so when Ravier showed up and he saw that the boss was breathing fire, he held back, today he would have to be the exemplary professional.
That morning Ravier was irritated, it was more a night when he dreamed of his assistant. He had already lost count of how many times he had Gael in his thoughts.
He had come to a conclusion, he was obsessed, there was no other explanation. He'd been like this once before, however, when he tried to get close to this boy, there was a tragedy and the object of his desire ended up dead.
It had been an accident, but Ravier blamed himself for a lifetime.
He had already gotten rid of his feelings, but it seems that Gael is bringing it all back.
Irritated even by Gael's efficiency, Ravier took the cup of coffee that was waiting for him at the edge of the table and threw it in the trash.
Gael didn't come to bring the agenda, he just texted when it was time for Ravier's meeting.
Ravier had already controlled himself enough to attend the meeting without coming in his pants and being embarrassed.
When he headed for the meeting room he walked hurriedly, he didn't even want, by any decree, to have Gael walking in front of him, he always looked at a specific spot on the back of his neck that made him want to bite there.
As soon as the meeting was over, Ravier went straight to his office, it was real torture. Gael sat well within his field of vision. He kept his eyes focused on the tablet where he was reporting on the meeting. From time to time he would squeeze a pen in his hand, even though he didn't write anything down on paper, it just seemed like an unconscious gesture, the only thing that showed he was nervous.
Ravier really wanted to know, however, he refuses to ask Gael anything, he wants to have minimal interaction.
It was mid-afternoon and Ravier was in his office, concentrating on his papers. That's when Gael announced the presence of his mother, Dona Majotie, followed by the announcement that he would be leaving early because of one of his mother's appointments.
He truly admires the love Gael has for his mother, he puts a lot of effort into taking care of her.
Dona Marjorie, as always elegant and imposing, entered her son's room, she seemed to have a special smile.
"Hello, Mother."
She just nodded to Ravier and started to say.
"I confess that Felicit was right, a male assistant gave this office a more professional air. The secretaries were always trying to please me hoping to get your attention, it was really annoying."
Ravier thought dejectedly, at least those women didn't make him have such inappropriate reactions as his current assistant does.
"Could be."
"Why are you discouraged, dear? Isn't the boy a good professional?"
"Yes, he is."
As Ravier was discouraged, his mother misinterpreted him.
"Don't tell me you're sad you changed your assistant?"
"Of course not, none of that matters to me."
"So what's the problem, son? You have a beautiful bride who loves you. Business is going very well, tell me what you're missing?"
A name popped into Ravier's mind, "Gael."
"I don't need anything, mother, but I'm not happy to get married either."
"Do you have someone else in your heart?"
"I have no one, mother, not even Felicit."
"How can you tell me that, son?"
Ravier got up from his chair and said to his mother:
"That's the truth, mother, everyone who gets close to me has some interest. Nobody sees me for who I am."
The conversation continued with Marjorie trying to convince him otherwise, but it didn't happen.
Gael left fascinated by Marjorie, she is a very distinguished, chic and elegant woman.
But, soon after, he focused entirely on his mission, to take his mother to the doctor.
From the moment they arrived until the moment they left the treatment was completely different.
They were greeted by a very friendly receptionist, who took them to a very comfortable waiting room. They offered a wheelchair for his mother to get around the hospital. The doctor and all the staff were very attentive.
They came out of there with the entire treatment schedule and all the dates marked, all organized.
When they were on their way home, Dona Iris said to her son:
"My love, I don't even know how to thank you for everything you're doing for me."
"I'm not doing anything too much, Mom. This is all you deserved from the beginning, this treatment."
"But, at what cost, my son. I see that you are sad. I promise I will do everything to get well soon, who knows you can go back to university."
"That's not for me anymore, Mom."
"Why not, son? You can't give up on your dreams."
"They died, real life is what we are living."
"Living with that man is bad for you."
"Ravier Valente has nothing to do with it, Mom."
"How not, son? He is slowly sucking the life out of you."
"I don't want to talk about this anymore, I'm doing what needs to be done, the rest I'll see later."
Gael didn't want to fight with his mother, so he adopted silence from that moment on.
Before going to sleep he went to his mother's room, gave her the medicine and said he loved her and then put her to bed.
