Character Introduction.

Nick Miller, 24, medical student.

He is a guy of average height, with brown hair and honey-colored eyes; his physique is well-developed.

Beginning...

My name is Nicholas Black, or rather Nick Miller; I am 23 years old and have just graduated as a doctor, though I am still undecided on which specialty to pursue.

My story is somewhat complicated, and everything became more so one night, but to understand, I'll start from the beginning.

The Commencement

Eleven years ago...

I'm in my first year of high school; I am 12 years old, my name is Nicholas Black, the eldest son of CEO Nicholas Black. Yes, I know what you might say; it's how my family operates: the firstborn son carries the father's name. I am the fifth generation Nicholas. My father is a very prominent CEO. My mother is Miriam Collins Black.

We were in physical education class when some acute abdominal pain knocked me down; it was so intense that I fainted.

At the hospital...

"Mr. and Mrs. Black, I must inform you about your son's condition," speaks the doctor, "tell us, doctor," "your son has a special condition," "what is it?" "He is a hermaphrodite, meaning he was born with both male and female genitalia," "how is that possible?" "It's a genetic malformation that occurs very rarely. Your son is sterile on his male side; only the female organs are capable of conception. He won't have periods; instead, he will have severe pain for which I will prescribe medication."

The doctor leaves the room. "This is your fault, and I will not tolerate a freak in my family," says my father. Leaving the hospital, I didn't understand what was happening; my mother was crying, and my father was furious.

A week goes by, and my father comes home with another woman and two boys who look about my age. He hands my mother some papers, "sign these and leave," "you can't do this; we have a son, and I'm pregnant."

Then I see my father beating my mother severely. I want to help, but some men hold me back tightly.

My mother signs the papers, "you sign here." I do as told, and we are thrown out of the house. Somehow, I manage to get my mom to a small hospital, where Doctor Joshua Miller looks after us. I tell him what happened, but my mom won't report it; she's too afraid of my father. Days go by and when mom is released, we don’t know what to do.

"Ma'am, if you won't take offense, you could stay at my house; it's small, but we can manage," "thank you, doctor."

Days turn into weeks, and mom starts sewing at home; her pregnancy is going well, and the doctor is very kind to us and cares deeply for my mom.

I enroll in a new school, but I no longer carry my father's surname, just my mother's.

That's why I also requested to change my name; mom was hesitant since my grandfather always loved me, but with Joshua's help, she agreed. Now I go by Nick Collins. I'm a handsome youth according to my mom, but I take it with a grain of salt.
