Episode 5

Somewhere Else...

My name is Nicholas Alexander Black. My father acknowledged my sister and me, and married my mother, but he was very cruel to his ex-wife and her son. That boy is a year younger than us—yes, my sister and I are twins, though quite different. I will never forget that lady begging not to be hit while pregnant. Since they left six years ago, there's been no word of them, and I worry about what might have happened to my brother if that lady died, and whether the baby she was carrying was born or not.

I have searched everywhere to no avail. I've confided everything to Grandpa Nicholas but made him swear not to tell my father. Together, we've been looking for those two, but there's no trace of them.

Nine Months Later...

The day of the children's births has arrived, and I am in much pain, barely able to endure any longer.

My mom and grandparents are anxious. Doctor Luis arrives—he is an excellent surgeon.

I'm given anesthesia and fall asleep.

With Peter...

I'm experiencing severe abdominal pains as if being split in two; tossing and turning in bed, I fear dying alone. All I can think about is my little devil—where might he be? Gradually, I drift off to sleep.

In the Village...

We've finally completed the cesarean; it was a success. The triplets are doing well; now we place them in an incubator to rest while Nick recovers. They'll need formula feedings since Nick cannot produce milk.

The girl is the smallest but she is okay. In a few months, we'll conduct tests to see if they've inherited their father's condition.

"Friend, this is incredible—thank you for trusting me," says Luis, "Thank you for being here, I don't know what I'd do on my own."

"How are they?" "All four are well." "Thank you both so much." "Am I an aunt now?" "Yes, my girl. We will see all four tomorrow."

Everyone retires to rest, leaving Nick's mother to watch over him and the children. They are so beautiful.

The next day, "Mom, my children?" "They are fine, son." Joshua arrives to help Nick settle and hands him his babies—they are adorable. Nick takes one's tiny hand; the infant opens eyes of a celestial blue. "What will their names be?" "They will bear the names of two good men. The eldest will be Joshua Luis, he'll have two names. Then Peter, and the little one, Noha," Nick replies, causing Joshua to say excitedly, "Thank you, Nick, for that gesture."

Days pass and the little ones are thriving. Nick is recovering well, having completed his first year of university online; he will attend in person next semester as his mother and grandmother will help with the children.

The babies are registered under Nick Miller's last name.

To the neighbors, they said that their mother left, abandoning them with their father, Nick. The children's medical tests came back normal except for little Noha, who suffers from mild asthma.

Three Years Later...

Today is my graduation, and my residency at the local hospital will start soon. My little ones have grown so much and are quite mischievous.

The village is excited because a new tourist complex is about to be built, which promises to bring benefits to the town.

the frequent pov change is confusing and irritating. And no Name is mentioned about whose pov is it. So it gets more confusing 🙂
