The Distance (1)

Rain froze on the spot with her eyes staring at Xavier. He also lowered his head and looked at her. To Rain, Xavier was not someone she could just ignore. He filled her heart entirely. This made her unable to even breathe without his presence. To Rain, he was real and unreal at the same time. As his scent slowly penetrated her consciousness, it trapped her completely, but at the same time made her upset.

He still liked to tease her as usual. He sounded frivolous and unconcerned. However, there was nothing frivolous or unconcerned in his eyes at all. His eyes gave people a completely different feeling than his voice. They were cold and dark. The heavy shower water made it hard for Rain to open her eyes. Xavier was pinning her down, both of them were soaked through. Xavier's shirt which was soaked through was now transparent. Rain could see the curves and the muscles underneath. That was all she could see at the moment.

"Huh?" Xavier lowered his head even more. The two of them got even closer to each other.

Even though the room was already steaming hot, she could still feel his warm breath. Xavier's eyes and voice were becoming impatient. "Is this how you treat your guy? Are you trying to play hard to get?"

"Xavier Lewis!" exclaimed Rain through gritted teeth. She had forgotten to be scared. Instead, she was feeling a mixture of both furry and hatred.

Xavier on the other hand just nodded and asked lazily, "What?"

"He's right. What can I do? I knew there was something wrong with him. I should have been rejoiced that I was able to escape from his den. I should have left him for good and not have anything to do with him anymore. But somehow he just kept on appearing in my life. I saved his life, but at the cost of Tad's. I've been asking for it. I can't blame anyone for this," thought Rain.

"You killed Tad?" she asked.

There was a long pause after Rain asked the question. Xavier just stared at her and then his eyes suddenly darkened. The room was filled with a deafening silence. Hot water was still pouring out of the showerhead, but Rain felt cold on the inside. She was beginning to feel annoyed and frustrated. She had been mentally tortured all this time just so that she could get an answer that she probably already knew. When she was finally able to ask him this question, he just stared at her and didn't answer.

"What about it?" A violent expression appeared on Xavier's face. "I killed him, so are you going to kill for me revenge?"

Rain's heart sank. She had to admit, she still had a glimmer of hope in her that Tad's death was just an accident. It had nothing to do with Xavier. Now that she had heard Xavier admit to it, she felt like her heart was turning into lead. It felt heavy and unable to beat anymore. Rain felt like her heart was sinking into a bottomless abyss.

"Don't you already know what kind of person I am?" asked Xavier with a smile. "Don't you reminder under what circumstances did you meet me? Are you still in that naive fantasy of yours, Rainy?"

"Why?" asked Rain.

Rain's lips were beginning to lose color and they were trembling. She felt like the person standing in front of her was a stranger. Someone that she knew nothing about. She had imagined him to be the person that she wanted him to be and forgot who he really was.

"No reason," replied Xavier.

Xavier was no longer hiding his impatience. His long fingers slipped inside her clothes and touched her most private parts.

"Isn't this what you've always wanted?" he asked as he licked her ear on purpose. His voice started to become deeper. "I'll do all I can to satisfy you the best I can."

"Who does he think I am?" wondered Rain.

Her body had become stiff. She could feel his intentional seduction.

"How could he say something like that about me? Have I been following his footsteps and chasing after him just because I'm addicted to having sex with him?" Rain questioned herself inwardly.

She wanted to cry. Tears mixed with water from the shower were trickling down her face. Deep down she started to regret her decision.

"It was my fault. It was all my fault. I was the one who opened Pandora's Box and released the demon," she said inwardly.

Xavier's hands were sliding down Rain's neck and onto her breasts. The soft touch of her breasts made Xavier squeeze them even harder. It was becoming harder and harder to control his desires. Rain's body remained stiff at first, but as time passed by, she seemed to be giving in to her desires as well. She reached out and started touching his back from the bottom to the top. Then slowly moved towards his shoulders and then down to his chest.

All of a sudden, without warning an excruciating pain overwhelmed Xavier. He moaned and bent down to try to ease the pain. It was clear that he had the wind knocked out of him. Rain had not been merciful. She had punched Xavier in the chest where his injury had been and at the same time, she kicked him in the nuts. After that Rain rushed out of the room in her wet clothes and onto the Jeep that was parked outside. She didn't care how Xavier was doing.

The keys to the car were thrown carelessly on the dashboard. She didn't know how long the pain was going to hold him back for. He might have already recovered. She only had a few seconds to get the car started and escape. She tried her best to stay calm. When she had finally started the car, Xavier appeared at the door. Rain stepped on the accelerator as fast as she could and the Jeep shot off in a roar.

She had never driven this fast in her life. Everything seemed to have blurred into a line as she shot forward. She held tightly onto the steering wheel. The car raced down the mountain with incredible speed. Then she arrived at the beach. Not even bothering to turn the engines off, she kicked the door of the Jeep open and stumbled towards the yacht.

At that time of the day, the tide was coming in. She didn't know which island they were on. She wasn't able to get a food look when they got here the night before. Judging by the water, the tide was full at the moment. Rain's feet splashed in the ocean water as she dashed towards the yacht. She was a fan of scuba diving, so she did learn a little about how to drive a yacht from her coach. Although she was unfamiliar with it and under such circumstances, her mind was blank anyway, she still didn't stop.

To Rain, as long as the yacht could start, she didn't care where it went. She just wanted to get as far away from Xavier as possible. Even if it meant getting lost in the middle of the ocean and dying there. It would all be worth it.

It was quite lucky for her that the yacht actually started. Rain held the helm and felt that it was easier than what she had thought. Leaving a white trail behind, the yacht turned around and started traveling into the distance. She was leaving the island as far behind her as possible.
