The Incomprehensible You (1)

There was no way that Rain was going to forgive herself.

If she hadn't rung Tad and asked him to come and help a man that she knew was up to no good, then Tad would still be alive. The thought was like a knife stabbing through her heart and it couldn't be removed. After Xavier had left, Rain had woken up countless times in her sleep due to nightmares. The man's eyes still seemed to be looking at her from behind.

However, whenever she turned around, there was no one there.

This meant that Rain was no longer capable of working in the emergency department in the hospital. She was just under too much pressure. Therefore, she applied for her annual leave. She had accumulated an annual leave of over three months ever since she had started work four years ago. She had never had the chance to take a good look around Tughland ever since she got here ten years ago. She wanted to take a good look around during her annual leave.

Rain had chosen Punket as her first destination. It was the rainy season, Punket was raining when Rain arrived. However, it was sunny again about ten minutes later. Rain had chosen to rent a car to drive for herself. She had lived in Tughland long enough for her to be used to the local culture. There were quite a lot of coaches on the streets, which carried tourists from around the world. They were all at Punket to experience its culture.

Most of the tourists would head to Bahdon Beach. There they could go surfing, sunbathing, windsurfing, parachuting, go on yachts, and many more. The beach would always be full of activities.

Rain was planning on avoiding the crowd at peak hours. She so didn't stay in Bahdon for long. After purchasing some necessities, she headed straight for Kamarla. Along the way, she experienced another instant change in weather. Rain arrived at Kamarla just before the rain stopped.

There were unique log cabin hotels in Kamarla. There were also tall coconut trees along both sides of the road. The ocean breeze felt wet and warm. The ground was cracked, probably due to the hot and wet weather. This gave passersby a feeling that the ground had been sculptured. The log cabins were located in the shades of trees. The roofs and walls were all red. The windows were dark, but the door was white in color. The simple combination of colors made everything look tropical.

Rain entered the room that belonged to her, then she closed the door. She threw herself on the soft bed. For a moment, her mind went blank. All the frustration seemed to have disappeared. It felt like she had been emptied from the inside out. A sense of tiredness overwhelmed her, which caused her to fall into a deep slumber.

She had slept quite well, by the time that Rain had woken up, it was already getting late. No lights were turned on in the room. The ocean breeze was blowing in from the windows. The white window screens were dancing in midair. One could hear the sound of the waves splashing ashore faintly. Rain got up and stood by the window in a daze.

Such beautiful scenery made her feel lonely.

"It was probably because I was alone for too long. I'm too far away from home. Although I had friends and I filled my life with activities, I'm still alone. I could only rely on myself. That's why when my life was messed up by an outsider, I developed feelings that I didn't even understand for someone who I had met under such circumstances," thought Rain.

What Rain had been wondering was that, was the feeling that she had developed for the guy, love?

Rain found a jacket and put it on. Then she left the room. The weather was probably going to change again. The wind was getting stronger and was making her squint her eyes. The rain in Kamarla would come and go as it pleased. No one could predict a pattern.

She smiled bitterly and closed her hands together.

"I'm sorry Tad, I'm so sorry," Rain kept on saying inwardly.

The strong wind was making the palm trees rustle. However, there was another sound mixed in all those rustlings. Rain turned around and she saw a black figure pouncing at her. Before she knew it, she was pushed to the ground with the figure on top of her and protecting her. Almost at the same time, a faint thud sounded. It was like someone had just opened the lid of a bottle of champagne. Rain felt somethings small but fast rushing past her face. It was like a knife slicing through the air. Rain sensed a burning feeling on her face.

Something tightened around Rain's waist. Whoever had her in their hands started rolling on the floor with her into the thick bushes at the sides. They became completely invisible to anyone who was outside the bushes. His hands covered the back of Rain's head since the start of everything. He stayed on top of Rain, but his eyes weren't on her. All his attention was on the world outside of these bushes. He looked like a leopard. His eyes were filled with something that Rain had seen before; violence.

"I must be dreaming. Otherwise, why would he be all the way out here?" wondered Rain.

She closed her eyes and opened them again. Lightning flashed across the sky and lit up the surroundings. Under the light Rain could see his facial features clearly.

It was really him. It was Xavier.
