Looking intently at Liz, Enzo spoke.
Enzo: Why did you hide from me that you work at a coffee shop?
Liz: Would you believe me if I said I work? No, you wouldn't believe it because you claims that I cheat on you when I leave the house every day.
Enzo: You made it seem that way, Liz. Your actions led to this.
Liz: Do I need to ask for permission now? Am I a prisoner in this house?
Enzo: No Liz, you're not.
You can leave whenever you want.
Liz: Okay.
Enzo: I don't want you working as a waitress.
Liz: What?? But I like what I do, I don't see any problem with it.
Enzo: There is a problem because you're my wife; imagine what people will say when they find out.
Liz: No one will find out; it has been hidden for months. There's no need to reveal it now.
Enzo: Sooner or later, it will come out. Quit tomorrow.
Liz: You can't do this.
Enzo: I can, and I am. If you don't quit, I will make the owner fire you. I don't know why you want to work when you can have everything you want, but since you insist on working, you will work in my company, which is now also yours.
Liz: You're a monster. I hate you.
Crying, Liz ran off and locked herself in her room.
Enzo stayed calm in the living room, as having a wife who was a waitress was an aberration to him.
After taking a shower, Liz lay in bed still sad and tearful, thinking about what to do next.
Cecilia came to call Liz for dinner but she didn't feel like eating; Cecilia noticed she had been crying and was worried.
Enzo: Where is Liz?
Cecilia: Sir, she's not hungry.
Enzo: Trying to get attention.
Cecilia: I think she's not okay because her face is red and she probably cried.
Cecilia left, and Enzo continued dining alone, thoughtful. He wondered why Liz was crying; whether it was because she's attached to her job or because he was too harsh.
The next day, Liz got up, took care of her hygiene, dressed, and came downstairs, where Enzo was sitting at the table having breakfast. Liz passed by without a word and left the house.
Arriving at the coffee shop, with great sadness, she approached her boss.
Liz: Excuse me, may I have a word with you?
Carlos: Of course, Liz, come in and sit down. I wanted to talk to you, too.
Liz: Okay.
Carlos: Speak, what do you want?
Liz: I think yours is more important, go ahead.
Carlos: Alright, Liz. You've done all sorts of things here, are familiar with accounting, menus, assigning employee tasks, basically... Maybe you don't know, but Julia has resigned because she has to move to another city and such. I'm wondering if you'd accept being the new manager as there's no one better than you for the job. What do you say?
Liz: Wow, I didn't expect that.
Carlos: Think before you answer me.
Liz: May I step out for a moment? I promise I'll have an answer when I return.
Carlos: Sure, go ahead.
Liz: Thank you, thank you so much.
Liz left and went to her husband's company. She entered, and the employees stared at her. Liz approached a counter where a secretary was chatting with another.
Liz: Good morning, I'd like to speak to Mr. Enzo Monet.
Secretary: Do you have an appointment?
Liz: No, but I really need to speak with him.
Secretary: Then you can't speak to him; he doesn't see anyone without an appointment.
Seeing that the secretary wouldn't allow her to enter, Liz went for her last resort.
Liz: Ma'am, please tell him that his wife is here; he'll see me.
Secretary: Do you think you're the first one to say that? As if Enzo would marry someone like you.
Liz: I'm telling the truth.
Secretary: If you don't leave, I'll call security.
Liz: Please, ma'am, I really need to speak with him; it's urgent.
Secretary: Security, come remove this crazy woman from here.
