Episode 8

Narrated by Liz

Oh God, please help me, I don't know what I did to deserve so much hatred from this man. I have never cheated on him and yet I am humiliated countless times. I just wanted to be happy for at least one full day. My parents never hit me, I have never been slapped by anyone except for this monster. I will never forgive him, he will only have my contempt and resentment.

I go to the bathroom and fill the bathtub, I undress and get in, crying with great anguish. My body grows weak and I fall asleep.

After crying so much, Liz falls asleep. Enzo stays in the living room, looking at those toys, and he lights the fireplace and burns everything.

Cecilia: Sir, isn't Mrs. Liz going to have dinner?

He remains silent for a few minutes and then responds.

Enzo: Take something for her to eat, the key is by the door, no need to lock it after you leave.

Cecilia: Yes, sir.

Cecilia leaves and Enzo continues burning the toys and clothes. Filled with anger, he mentally curses Liz with every name in the book. He is interrupted from his thoughts by Cecilia screaming. He rushes upstairs and sees Liz in Cecilia's arms, who is desperate.

Cecilia: Sir, she was passed out in the bathtub and won't wake up.

Enzo: Dress her in some clothes, Cecilia. I'll start the car and let's go to the hospital.

Enzo runs out and starts the car. He returns to the room where Cecilia is finishing dressing Liz in a dress. Quickly, he picks Liz up in his arms and carries her to the car.

After a few minutes, they arrive at the hospital. Enzo rushes in with Liz in his arms, shouting for a doctor. After the doctor receives the information, he takes Liz and Enzo stays with Cecilia in the waiting room, waiting for news.

Cecilia: May God help this girl. Such a good and bright girl does not deserve any suffering.

I don't know why she did this... 😢😢

Enzo remains silent and unable to think of anything or why Liz would do such a thing. After a few minutes, the doctor appears.

Enzo: So, doctor, is she okay?

Doctor: She swallowed a lot of water and almost didn't make it. She came close to drowning, but we performed a wash and removed all the ingested water. She is under observation and receiving fluids because she is severely dehydrated.

Cecilia: Can we see her, doctor?

Doctor: Yes, follow me.

Cecilia and Enzo accompany the doctor to Liz's room. She is asleep with some devices attached to her body. Enzo notices that her face is still red from the slap he gave her. He sees her defenseless on the bed and leaves the room.

Cecilia stays by Liz's side, gently caressing her face. The doctor exits the room and Enzo calls after him.

Enzo: Doctor, I need to ask a question.

Doctor: Go ahead, if I can help...

Enzo: Is she pregnant?

Doctor: We did blood tests to see if anything was abnormal and everything is normal. No, she is not pregnant.

Enzo: Thank you.

The doctor leaves feeling confused, and that's when guilt and regret hit Enzo. He blames himself for Liz being in the hospital now. He didn't listen to Liz and he doesn't know who the toys were for. He then calls a security guard and gives him a list of toys and clothes to buy.
