The next day Liz gets up, showers, and gets ready. With a lot of courage, she goes down to the living room and luckily no one is there because she doesn't want to run into Enzo.
Not feeling hungry, Liz goes to work. She arrives at the cafe with her usual friendly smile and starts serving the tables.
Enzo wakes up with a terrible headache. He goes to the bathroom and while taking a shower, he remembers what happened last night. Regret immediately floods over him and in his mind, he can only see Liz crying and scared. He finishes his shower, gets dressed, and goes to Liz's room. The bed is made but she's not there.
At the dining table, he notices Liz's absence.
Enzo: Cecilia, where is Liz?
Cecilia: She left early, sir, and didn't have breakfast.
Enzo: Okay. I'll go to work, and when Carol comes down, tell her to leave.
Cecilia: Yes, sir.
Enzo goes to work but can't stop thinking about why Liz would leave so early when he has already given her money and a card. The day goes by peacefully for both of them, but occasionally, memories haunt Liz.
Enzo goes home for lunch and doesn't return to the office since it's Saturday, his day off. Liz doesn't show up for lunch, and he assumes she doesn't want to see him after what happened. As the evening approaches, Liz returns home and goes straight to her room. She takes a shower and goes straight to bed, avoiding Enzo.
The next day, Liz wakes up at her usual time. After getting ready, she goes downstairs to the living room and leaves without having breakfast. Enzo wakes up a little later and goes downstairs to have breakfast.
Enzo: Has Liz had breakfast?
Cecilia: No, sir. She left early and didn't eat anything.
Enzo: I can't believe the audacity of this woman. It's an affront! Even with me at home, she left again without telling anyone. This only increases my suspicion that she has a lover.
Thinking that his wife is cheating on him, Enzo becomes furious, not because he loves Liz, but because he doesn't want to be made a fool of. With rage, he goes to his office, opens his laptop, and checks how much money he transferred to Liz's account. To his surprise, the amount is unchanged, and she hasn't touched anything, and the card is still blocked.
"So she's with someone who finances her more than I do, but who could it be if I'm the richest person in this town?"
The day goes by quickly, and Liz doesn't return for lunch or dinner. This only fuels Enzo's anger. After work, Liz goes out to buy more toys and some clothes.
It's already night when Liz returns, and once again, Enzo is sitting on the couch, drinking whisky.
Liz: Good evening, Mr. Monet.
Enzo's face is cold, and seeing Liz with shopping bags in her hands, he wonders where she got the money to go shopping when the account remains intact.
Enzo: How was your outing?
Liz: It was great, sir.
Enzo's voice is filled with anger, and it's clear from his tone. Upon hearing Liz shamelessly claim that it was great, he picks up his glass of whisky and throws it. The sound is so loud that Liz starts trembling.
Enzo: Are you not ashamed, you whore? You dare to mock me? Tell me you received gifts from your lover... I gave you a card to spend on whatever you wanted, and yet you prefer your lover's. You go out every day, even on weekends.
I've already told you that I won't be taken advantage of.
He speaks furiously and grabs Liz's arms, causing the shopping bags to fall and the toys to scatter on the floor. He notices some children's clothes and deduces that she is pregnant with her lover. Liz crouches down to collect the toys and put them back in the bag, but Enzo pulls her arm and slaps her across the face.
Enzo: You wretched woman, how dare you mock me?
Tears stream down Liz's face as he angrily drags her by the stairs and locks her in the room.
