The First-Year MBBS Nightmare – Ayaan’s Struggle
3 AM.
Ayaan sat in his hostel room, drowning in a sea of Anatomy, Biochemistry, and Physiology notes.
His brain was fried.
“Why does the human body have so many useless details?!” he groaned, throwing his pen.
His roommate, Sameer, yawned. “Welcome to MBBS, bro. No sleep, no social life, just survival.”
Ayaan sighed. His dream was finally real, but reality came with endless study sessions, impossible viva questions, and professors who thrived on student suffering.
He picked up his phone and mindlessly opened WhatsApp.
Riya Sinha – Online.
For some reason, he hesitated.
Then, before he could stop himself, he typed:
Ayaan: “Are you awake?”
Riya: “Dumb question. Of course, I am.”
Ayaan smirked. Typical Riya.
Ayaan: “I swear, medical school will kill me before any disease does.”
Riya: “Cry me a river, Doctor Mehta. Didn’t you beg to get into AIIMS?”
Ayaan rolled his eyes. Why was she like this?
Ayaan: “I wasn’t begging, I was destined.”
Riya: “LOL. Sure.”
Somehow, the frustration of MBBS faded. Even if she annoyed him to no end, talking to Riya always made things… easier.

The Disastrous Dissection Class
The next morning, Ayaan stood in the dissection hall, staring at the cadaver in front of him.
His lab partner, Priya, looked equally horrified. “I don’t think I can do this.”
Ayaan took a deep breath. “We have to.”
Professor Rao smirked. “Mehta, start with the thoracic cavity.”
Ayaan gulped, picked up the scalpel, and—
PLOP.
A piece of fatty tissue landed on his sleeve.
Ayaan’s soul left his body.
He turned to see Sameer smirking. “Oops.”
Ayaan glared. “You. Are. Dead.”
The entire class burst out laughing.
This was definitely not what he had imagined when dreaming about becoming a doctor.

Riya’s Surprise Visit – Chaos Ensues
That weekend, Ayaan’s peaceful afternoon was shattered by loud knocking.
He opened the door to find—
Riya. Standing in the hostel hallway. Arms crossed. Smirking.
Ayaan blinked. “What… what are you doing here?!”
Riya rolled her eyes. “I had a cricket match in Delhi. Thought I’d drop by and see how the ‘genius doctor’ is surviving.”
Before Ayaan could stop her, she walked in.
Sameer raised an eyebrow. “Who’s this?”
Ayaan groaned. “The devil.”
Riya grinned. “Nice to meet you, Sameer. I’m Riya, Ayaan’s childhood nightmare.”
Sameer chuckled. “You must have stories.”
Riya smirked. “Oh, I have plenty.”
Ayaan knew this was going to be a disaster.

The Moment That Changed Everything
That evening, Riya and Ayaan walked around campus.
For once, they weren’t bickering.
“I still can’t believe you’re here,” Ayaan admitted.
Riya shrugged. “You seemed stressed. Thought I’d check in.”
Ayaan glanced at her, something shifting in his chest.
They had always been rivals, competitors, best friends.
But now, standing under the streetlights, he felt something… different.
Something he wasn’t ready to name.
Riya nudged him. “You okay?”
Ayaan quickly covered up. “Yeah, yeah. Just thinking about the 200 things I have to memorize.”
Riya laughed. “Nerd.”
Ayaan smirked. “Annoying brat.”
She shoved him lightly. He shoved her back.
And in that moment, with the city lights glowing around them, something between them changed.
