His roommate, Sameer, yawned. “Welcome to MBBS, bro. No sleep, no social life, just survival.”
Ayaan sighed. His dream was finally real, but reality came with endless study sessions, impossible viva questions, and professors who thrived on student suffering.
He picked up his phone and mindlessly opened WhatsApp.

For some reason, he hesitated.

He turned to see Sameer smirking. “Oops.”
Ayaan glared. “You. Are. Dead.”
The entire class burst out laughing.
This was definitely not what he had imagined when dreaming about becoming a doctor.

That weekend, Ayaan’s peaceful afternoon was shattered by loud knocking.

Sameer raised an eyebrow. “Who’s this?”
Ayaan groaned. “The devil.”
Riya grinned. “Nice to meet you, Sameer. I’m Riya, Ayaan’s childhood nightmare.”
Sameer chuckled. “You must have stories.”
Riya smirked. “Oh, I have plenty.”
Ayaan knew this was going to be a disaster.

But now, standing under the streetlights, he felt something… different.
Something he wasn’t ready to name.
Riya nudged him. “You okay?”
Ayaan quickly covered up. “Yeah, yeah. Just thinking about the 200 things I have to memorize.”
Riya laughed. “Nerd.”
Ayaan smirked. “Annoying brat.”
She shoved him lightly. He shoved her back.
And in that moment, with the city lights glowing around them, something between them changed.
