The Mid-Semester Crisis – Sleep is a Myth
Two months into MBBS, Ayaan had finally accepted reality:
Sleep was a luxury, not a necessity.
His life had become a never-ending loop of lectures, practicals, late-night study sessions, and accidental naps in the library.
“Bro, how many hours of sleep did you get?” his roommate asked one morning.
Ayaan, still half-asleep, muttered, “Three. But one was an accident.”
His roommate sighed. “Respect.”
The real nightmare, however, wasn’t just the workload. It was Dr. Siddharth Khanna.

The Anatomy Showdown – The Quiz of Doom
Dr. Khanna, their strict yet legendary anatomy professor, had announced a surprise quiz in dissection class.
Ayaan’s stomach dropped.
Dr. Khanna smirked. “Mehta, let’s see how well you’ve been studying. Identify the structures in the cavernous sinus.”
Ayaan internally screamed. Why does he keep picking ME?!
He took a deep breath and began answering.
“Oculomotor nerve, trochlear nerve, abducens nerve, ophthalmic and maxillary divisions of the trigeminal nerve… and the internal carotid artery.”
Dr. Khanna raised an eyebrow. “Correct. But what is its clinical significance?”
Ayaan’s mind raced. Then he recalled something. “Cavernous sinus thrombosis can lead to ophthalmoplegia, proptosis, and fever due to infection from the danger triangle of the face.”
Dr. Khanna smirked. “Hmm. Not bad.”
The class stared in shock. Ayaan had actually survived The Quiz of Doom.
As soon as Dr. Khanna moved on, Ayaan slumped in relief. His friend whispered, “Bro, did you just defeat the final boss?”
Ayaan wiped imaginary sweat. “For now.”

The Great Hostel Food Rebellion
Later that day, Ayaan and his friends headed to the hostel mess.
The menu? Something unrecognizable.
Ayaan poked at his plate. “This… this is food?”
His friend sniffed it. “It smells like expired cardboard.”
That’s when an idea hit Ayaan. He grabbed his phone and texted his family.
Ayaan: “Emergency. I need home food.”
Dadi: “Beta, tell me what you want.”
Neha: “I knew you’d break. What do you need?”
Isha: “I can cook! …Wait, never mind. Order from somewhere.”
Ayaan sighed in relief. Home food was on the way.
One hour later, a delivery guy arrived at the hostel gates with a full royal feast.
His friends stared. “Bro… HOW?!”
Ayaan smirked. “Family connections.”
That night, he enjoyed a warm, homemade meal while his friends watched in envy.
Victory.

The Late-Night Breakdown & A Call from Riya
At 2 AM, Ayaan sat at his desk, drowning in books.
Neuroanatomy was destroying his brain.
His head throbbed. He wanted to quit. He wanted sleep. He wanted to punch whoever invented the cranial nerves.
Then, his phone buzzed.
Riya Calling…
Ayaan frowned. What was she doing up this late?
He answered. “What?”
Riya scoffed. “Wow, rude. I was checking if you died from studying.”
Ayaan groaned. “Almost.”
She chuckled. “Welcome to reality, Dr. Genius. Still think MBBS is fun?”
Ayaan sighed. “Nope. I’m officially suffering.”
Riya smirked. “Good. Now stop whining and get back to work.”
Ayaan rolled his eyes. But strangely… talking to her made him feel better.
As the call ended, Ayaan stretched, grabbed his notes, and kept studying.
Maybe, just maybe, he’d survive MBBS after all.
