After some time, she finally reached her station.
" I never thought I would be happy seeing this building."
She ironically thought to herself since she hates it.
She got out of the car, fixed her uniform, and went inside the station. She reached her desk and Robert was also there.
He had his head down and didn't notice Heather.
"Not even a" welcome back." Huh? Anyway, what are you doing with your head down- Jesus, is that you, Robert?!"
He finally looked up. It was like his soul left his body.
"5 whole years. For 5 years, the files downstairs weren't organized. And guess who had to go since they need to be carefully placed by order. Of course, it would be the freaking Vice Captain. I can't feel my arms, my legs, m-my everything. What did i do in my past life to deserve this? Sniff"
Heather tried to hold back her laugh but stopped since he was really exhausted.
She sat on her desk and moved closer to his desk.
She rubbed his back gently. It seemed stiff and also very muscular.
"You have such board shoulders, and you back is like it got sculptured by the best artist also your muscle -"
She unconsciously started saying that since she didn't had the chance to touch his back. It was the first time and she realised that the uniform didn't do him any justice.
"H-Heather, I'm really fine. You can stop. I'm feeling a lot better..."
He turned his head, and he was blushing down to his neck.
"Oh shit, what was i even doing. That reaction was cute, though-oh god, i better stop!"
She thought after seeing Robert. They weren't the people that would show emotions that easily, so the sight was something new.
Robert got up from the chair and immediately went to the bathroom. Thankfully, no one was there to see his blushing mess.
He splashed water on his face, and he finally calmed down.
"What is this feeling? My heart is beating so fast. I never felt like this before."
And like a teenager, he sat there lost in his thoughts until people came inside the bathroom.
He got a few weird looks since he was sitting in front of a mirror, blushing with a smile on his face.
"Ahem, keep up the good work, guys."
Robert said, acting all calm. He opened the door, got out, and started running.
"Oh god, to keep up the good work with what?! Why would i say that?"
He was exhausted by now and sat on the desk with his head down. Heather was still there working on her computer.
He was stealing a few glances, and he realized for the - lost count since the first time she met her - time that he still likes her, no... He loves her.
And just like an hour passed. Heather finished what she was working on, and Robert dozed off. She smiled when he looked at him. His expression softened, and he looked calmer.
It was until Rick came, but Heather stopped him before talking.
"What you want, Officer Rick?"
She whispered with a bit of annoyance. He looked at her and then responded, whispering.
"Who submitted the report? Chief needs a word."
Heather didn't want to disturb Robert, so she said she did. She went to the chief office and knocked on the door.
"Déjà vu."
She thought to herself since she visited twice a Chief's office.
He shouted at her to come in. He angrily got up from the office and slapped her hard, hard enough to make her lip bleed.
"Are you that useless, Captain? Are you only good in one field. What is this mistake? It's so easy that anyone can do it right. So why is it fucking wrong"
The door wasn't completely closed so it was heard when a certain someone laughed. He then left with a smirk on his face showing his satisfaction.
