When they arrived home she got out of the car and walked straight inside, he watched her walk away and sighed. When he entered the room, he grabbed the luggage he had arrived with and packed only what she had brought, grabbed his documents and his old phone, and prepared to leave. When he tried to open the door, he found himself face to face with Samael, who, seeing the luggage, rushed in and closed the door.
"What do you think you're doing?"
She looked at him with her eyes full of pain and tried to leave, but he held her back again.
"Please… Let me go."
He got angry and abruptly took her luggage from her.
"You are not going anywhere."
"Why? You betrayed me, I don't want to be here anymore!"
"You are my wife and your place is here!"
"I want a divorce. I trusted you… I trusted you and yet you…"
She collapsed on the floor and began to cry loudly, he looked at her from above with a cold gaze.
"Don't make a scene please, just forget what you saw and live as you were doing."
She glared at him fiercely and threw one of her shoes at him, hitting him hard in the face.
"How can you say that to me? I told you not to cheat on me, you knew I couldn't deal with that. How could you do this to me? Do I really deserve this kind of shit?"
She started hitting the floor with her good hand as she screamed.
"Why?"
It was the only thing that came out of her mouth, Samael despaired and took Daphne's documents and kept them in his jacket pocket, when she saw this she got up and struggled with him, but he pushed her, knocking her to the ground, she got up again and lunged forcefully and this time he punched her in the face, knocking her unconscious.
When Daphne woke up she felt a sharp pain in her face and hand, the memories of the terrible night flooded back to her and she began to cry inconsolably. After crying for a few minutes she got up and upon seeing herself in the mirror noticed half of her face swollen and with a large bruise under her eye down to her chin, she went to the door and noticed that it was locked from the outside.
"Now I'm a prisoner…"
She went back to the bed and sat down hugging her legs and hiding her face between them she began to cry, the memories of the moments lived with Samael were arriving one by one and that made her feel worse. After an hour, she felt the door open and when she saw Samael enter, her heart began to beat faster and her body began to tremble, she stood up and looked around for something to defend herself with, but there was nothing she could use. He approached and she backed away in fear as her tears fell, feeling her back against the wall she knew there was no escape and she closed her eyes waiting for the blow, but all she felt was Samael's hand gently touching the part of her face he had hit.
"I'll get you some medicine."
She opened her eyes and when he moved away she ran back to the bed with an expression of terror in her eyes. He realized that she was now afraid of him and sighed as he sat down on one of the pieces of furniture in the room.
"I'm not going to hurt you… I apologize for hitting you yesterday but you gave me no choice."
She didn't answer and continued to look at him with fear, he held out his hand and called her but she shook her head.
"As you wish."
"Please let me go."
"That again? You're not going anywhere."
"Why?"
"I already told you, you are my wife."
"But you… you cheated on me. How do you expect me to stay with you after what I saw?"
"I didn't want you to see that, everything was working out fine. Why couldn't you just ignore that house and live peacefully here?"
Daphne looked at him surprised and disappointed, that man was definitely not the one she had married.
"Why did you marry me?"
She looked at him as she cried, needing to know why this was happening to her.
"Because you are perfect to be my wife."
"What?"
"You are naive, young, pure and not at all ambitious, I needed someone with those characteristics and you met them all."
"But… why?"
"As you saw yesterday, I already have someone I love… but for obvious reasons I can't have him as my official partner, so I needed a front."
"Why me? It could have been anyone, you didn't even have to put on this whole charade."
"My grandmother would not have accepted just any woman, she even investigated you and the only reason she accepted you is because you were someone perfect to be a good wife. So everyone's happy."
"What makes you think I'm going to keep up your stupid facade?"
"Don't you care about your parents?"
"What?"
"If you do anything to harm me, they will be the ones to pay."
Daphne was in shock, she was being threatened by the man she had chosen to spend the rest of her life with, her body began to tremble as she felt everything crumble inside her.
"You never loved me, did you?"
"No. But I appreciate you, you are sweet and tender."
She turned her face and started to laugh, then she stood up weakly.
"It's okay. I guess I have no choice. I'll pretend to be your wife, but don't ever do anything against my family."
He smiled and approached her and feeling him so close she trembled with fear and fell to the floor breathing heavily. He was surprised and left without looking at her.
