Two black cars swerved sharply to a halt, followed swiftly by Riko and Dion who slammed on the brakes, the extreme weight of the car allowing the brakes to work optimally and stop instantly.
Two other black sedans came to a standstill behind them, effectively blocking any escape route.
From the four black sedans, 16 muscular men in short-sleeved t-shirts rapidly disembarked, brandishing an assortment of weapons. Some carried small daggers, others wielded steel pipes, and a few held rubber-coated iron rods, a type of security weapon.
"Get out! Or do we need to drag you out?" demanded the man at the front.
The others swiftly surrounded the area, cautious of anyone attempting to escape through another side door.
After being shouted at like that, Riko was the first to emerge, his face fierce yet composed.
Followed by Dion and the rest! The four exchanged knowing glances and smirked crookedly.
Their plan had worked. Although not all of their pursuers had shown up, the presence of these 16 was enough to satisfy Riko.
"Let me go alone," said Riko.
"No way! Why should you always have all the fun?" Alda interjected, cutting off Riko.
Riko wanted to move solo once again, reminiscent of when the Red Axe group had acted in the Mercure Hotel lobby.
But now Alda disagreed, and so did Dion, who chimed in.
"Don't hog the victory! We all want to train like we did in the mountains, I'm tired of beating on Arda." Dion stated.
Alda, by his side, merely glanced over with displeasure. It was indeed true, but that was because Alda wanted Dion to hit him, to make his body more resilient to attacks.
Had he not wanted to be struck by Dion, he could've easily dodged. Alda's strength and agility surpassed all.
Though Alda was smaller and slimmer, his combat strength was superior, often fending off eight assailants at once during sparring.
Though Arda was the youngest brother, his progress in strength exceeded expectations.
"It's all the same to me! The point is, I'll take down the most." Riko retorted, annoyed.
The 16 assailants exchanged looks, unsure of how to react to their targets bickering over who would face them in battle.
"Ha-ha-ha...! People facing death are diverse; they often fantasize about unachieved feats. It seems like you all dream of taking us down?" the group's leader taunted.
"Let's see who ends up dead!" Riko said with a sharp glare at the leader.
Riko had his sights set on the leader, determined to take him down first before dealing with the rest.
"Insolent brats, attack all at once!" the leader commanded.
Woooss..!
The attackers' moves were far from amateur; their charging and striking were practiced, bred for intense combat.
Their blows were vicious and wild, not like when they fought the Red Axe gang—a small group that only relied on intimidation.
Different this time, they seemed trained for harsher battles.
Plak..! Krek..
Riko's fist collided with the leader's! The sound of bone meeting bone rang out sharply, followed by a grisly shift of bone from its socket.
"Heeess..!" the leader grimaced in pain.
To his shock, Riko's punch was so powerful it dislocated and cracked his hand bones.
Buuk.. Bukk..!
Riko swiftly kneed the foe in the stomach, then a powerful kick sent the leader sprawling.
Elsewhere, Alda had already rendered three unconscious, now wielding a steel pipe seized from one of his opponents.
Not far from Alda, Dion was even more ruthless, having slain one by breaking his arm, seizing his dagger, and slashing his throat.
Tama took down two opponents and looked around for more to pummel into agony.
As Tama surveyed for his next target, a body flew towards him, unconscious after being kicked in the head by Alda—it was Alda's fourth takedown.
The leader, coming to from his pain, was shocked to see more than half of his men downed.
Initially cocky, he hadn't grabbed a weapon and was defeated by Riko in just a few moves, leaving his fingers broken.
The remnants, witnessing the brutality of their adversaries, retreated in shock, leaving those behind, still standing, while those in front lay fallen on the street.
"Look, Riko, you couldn't take down a single one!" Tama exclaimed.
Hearing Tama's words, Riko, unable to hide his ire, merely grunted.
Tama was right; since their leader could still get up, Riko had not taken anyone down.
"Doni wins; he killed his opponent right away!" asserted Alda.
"Damn, let's not discuss this!" Riko snapped, irritated.
"Alright..!" Tama replied.
"Happp..!" Riko barked before attacking the group's leader again.
The leader no longer dared to block Riko's mighty fists, his hand painfully throbbing.
Dodging was his only recourse as he tried to floor Riko! But, Riko dodged and hastened his punches and kicks.
Eventually, he landed a hefty left-handed blow on the leader's face.
Kraakkk..!
The leader's jaw skewed from Riko's devastating blow, fresh blood spilling from his mouth as he lost consciousness and collapsed.
Dion and the others bolted to the rear, frightened by their adversaries' ferocity, and were easily incapacitated by the pursuing trio.
Initially intending to ambush Alda and his companions, it turned out they were the ones who had been ambushed.
What they thought were their prey turned out to be the predators, a terrifying reflection.
After the leader fell, Riko picked up a discarded dagger from the road and plunged it into the left side of the leader's chest with ferocity, blood oozing profusely as the leader died instantly.
"See, who ends up dead in the end?" Riko stated.
