At 3 in the morning, Arturo's vehicle was parked in front of a private track. Susan had discovered Arturo's fondness for Jack a month ago when he asked her to bring the dog along on a trip. The journey was quiet, and Susan quickly fell asleep while Arturo, as usual, was working. When they arrived at the yacht boarding location at 7 in the morning, Susan realized she didn't have a phone. In fact, her phone had been left behind the day Andrea fired her and sent someone to attack her. Since then, she had avoided expenses and enjoyed life without any mobile network coverage.
Her green eyes captured all the beauty, but she knew she had to keep it in her mind and heart. Suddenly, a box was placed before her eyes.
"You've been married to me for four months, and you haven't asked me for anything. Not even dressing appropriately as Mrs. Lacronte. I won't mention my mother's mistake, but I know you left your phone behind. This is a little gift," Arturo said, and Susan looked at the box. "Don't just stare, grab it and take out all the photos you want." Arturo walked away before Susan had the chance to thank him.
Fascinated by everything around her, Susan realized they were just minutes away from boarding the yacht. She searched for Arturo, who was on a phone call. The woman couldn't help but overhear his voice.
"I miss you too. We'll see each other in a few hours," Arturo said, ending the call. In that moment, Susan realized her sister would also be there. It felt like a bucket of cold water pouring over her, so she quickly distanced herself. As she turned around to walk away, Arturo opened the door and wrinkled his brow. He seemed to catch a brief fragrance, but it was unfamiliar, so he dismissed the idea of it being Susan.
The yacht set in motion, leaving only the two of them on board. Susan had taken a bath and upon emerging, she found Arturo standing with his back straight and naked. Susan looked at him, remembering the man's back she had seen at the club. She noticed something on her husband's back, like a ribbon. When Arturo felt Susan's presence, he stood up.
"Put something on. We're not here for exhibitionism," Susan found a knee-length pajama but was surprised by Arturo's presence. "We can be two," Arturo stood up, wearing a loosely tied bathrobe. Susan immediately covered her eyes and turned around, but Arturo approached her and took her by the wrist. "I desire you, even though you're too slow to catch on."
"Because you resist so much," Susan resisted or at least attempted to.
"Guess," Arturo smiled. For most of the trip, Arturo had her pinned beneath him. An hour before arriving, he had released her. Susan bore several bite marks and love bites. She shut her eyes tightly, hoping Arturo wouldn't bother her further. But upon hearing his words, she opened her eyes.
"Arturo, why are you still married to me?" Susan supported herself on her elbows, covered by the quilt, her question eliciting no emotional response or change in attitude from Arturo.
"Let me remind you that four months ago, tomorrow precisely, you came to me. Your father had suffered a heart attack for several hours, and you begged me to marry you. You couldn't let your father and his companies collapse because they are all linked to Lacronte Enterprises. You pleaded with me, Susan, offering me a 12-month marriage, all to prevent your father's downfall and protect his businesses," Arturo repeated. "You were afraid that the next day, out of fear of what happened with Gabriela, I would destroy all negotiations with your father."
"Would you have done it, if I hadn't offered you the arrangement of a convenience marriage, would you have severed all ties with my family?" Susan's question captured Arturo's attention, but the smile that appeared on his face made it clear to Susan that perhaps the answer could condemn her.
"Arturo Lacronte will not mix business affairs with the foolishness of the heart. I wouldn't have done anything at all; the next day everything would have remained the same. Susan, you came to me, you yourself led to that precipice and jumped into it. Now I have a question for you."
"Tell me," Susan looked at him, but Arturo's gaze was deeper.
"Which convenience marriage? You haven't offered me anything at all. I remember you just came to me and said, 'Let's get married. I'll be your wife as long as Fontaine Enterprises remain intact.' Arturo tapped her forehead with his index finger. 'I didn't understand what was happening, I didn't understand why my little sister-in-law was there proposing marriage to me. It was you, Susan, who asked to get married. I agreed, without any objections, we got married the next day, I brought you to live with me, always ready to give you your place as my wife, but without asking for anything in return. Or did I ask for something?' I want that answer, Susan. Have I asked you for something, woman?"
The woman remained silent; indeed, Arturo hadn't raised any objections. She became his wife.
"I'm waiting for your answer, Susan," the air turned cold. Susan knows she has to reply.
"No, you haven't asked me for anything in return."
"Good, and now it's time for me to ask you for something," Arturo was cunning, and Susan knows that the request won't be favorable for her.
"What can I give you?" the woman asked, "You yourself have told me that I only have a 5% stake in Fontaine Enterprises. Morgan Enterprise doesn't even acknowledge my existence. I'm sure my maternal family doesn't even know they have a younger daughter, so I'm worse off than a church mouse."
"Susan, where did you come up with that rubbish saying?" Arturo showed a small smile.
"Uh," the woman appeared timid, knowing that the man could mock her with any response she gave.
"There are 8 months left until our divorce, and I want us to fulfill the established date. I am a man of my word, no, I don't want to… we will stick to the set date."
"But Gabriela has already returned, why should we continue with this? You're hurting her, she misses you. Instead of being here with me, you should be with her."
"Your body is fascinating, it's captivating to make you mine, and I will continue to enjoy that sensation for the remaining time of the contract."
