Episode 9

"Arturo, what are you doing here?" Susan had a bad feeling.

"Did you have a good night, right?" The man was sitting on the couch, appearing as someone no one can access.

"I, I... " Susan didn't know what to answer, she herself didn't know in what position she still found herself.

"Let me remind you of the night you had." Arturo had a remote control in his hand as he directed it towards the television, which turns on and displays a video.

Susan paled when she saw her crimson face on the screen. The room was dark, but her face was clearly visible. She watched as the man's hands moved up her dress, tearing it apart, and of course, how she encouraged him to continue. The room witnessed a passionate night and early morning. The only visible thing about the man was his tattoo, which was written in Chinese characters. Susan realized they were numbers, but her face grew even paler as she realized the man she had been intimate with was not Arturo. He didn't have any tattoos, in fact, she had only seen his bare back yesterday.

The video stopped, but Susan wished it hadn't.

"Do you have an explanation for this?" Susan didn't lift her face, she wanted the ground to swallow her. "You've committed adultery, Susan. You've betrayed Arturo Lacronte, and that comes with a very high cost." Susan trembled, and she was still naked. Her dress had been torn, or rather, the man had torn it. Her eyes filled with tears, and she still didn't have the courage to look at Arturo. Divorce was imminent.

"I don't remember anything, I don't remember anything. I don't even remember the man. You can do whatever you want to me. Let's sign the divorce right now. You can destroy me a thousand times. I shouldn't have..."

"Shut up. I don't want to hear you. Who told you that divorcing me would repair the damage?" She didn't look at him, but she knew he was smiling sinisterly. "Look at me when I talk to you, Susan. Listen carefully to my words. Last night, you did everything perfectly. You surrendered passionately to the man. I even saw new tricks from you. Marriage is for life. That's the punishment for cheating on me. I won't give you a divorce. If you die, you'll still be my wife, there won't be any divorce. The punishment for committing adultery is to remain tied to me."

Susan dared to look at him. Her gaze was filled with a universe of doubts. Wasn't Arturo supposed to be the man most afraid of anyone touching what was his? Didn't he have a fetish for cleanliness? But then Susan realized her forced marriage would be tied to torture. Of course, it would, especially after last night, where she had not only defied her marriage but also the most powerful man in London and even England.

"Officially, you have fallen for a demon for life, Susan Fontaine."

"Arturo, don't do this. Look at the bright side, if we divorce, you can be with Gabriela."

"I haven't let you speak, I don't want to hear you. So, get yourself together and leave the house." His gaze was filled with disdain, while hers showed how terrified she was. Arturo was a charming demon.

Susan didn't hesitate to dress herself, or at least she made an attempt to. Every clumsy movement she made was observed by Arturo, who had returned to sitting on the couch, shaking his head. He threw his jacket at her. Susan looked at it, but the man's icy gaze was a clear signal to not utter a word. When she was ready, Arturo tossed her the car keys, and the woman stared at the object on the floor.

"I can't drive," Susan murmured, embarrassed.

"You can't drive?" Arturo showed a sly smile that sent shivers down Susan's spine. She was married to the same demon. "But how can you not know how to drive? You have good manual dexterity, after all." The woman's face turned red as she understood the meaning behind Arturo's words. Of course, he was referring to what the video had shown her.

"I'll walk, don't bother," Susan passed by Arturo, but he grabbed her arm.

"Do you think you're so important now?" The man's face approached Susan's, and she naturally stepped back. "Do you want me to drive you home? You know your father has reacted remarkably, little mischievous fairy. Today, your father speaks perfectly and has invited us to have dinner. Do you want to embarrass him and make his condition worsen again? Because if that's what you want, you can go on foot, but you will come across people who will immediately draw their own conclusions, and once again, your father will be disappointed in you."

"What do you want me to do then? I don't know how to drive." Susan sighed.

"Just shut up." Arturo left the room, grabbing the car keys. Of course, Susan followed him from behind, and they both got into the vehicle, which sped away from the club shortly after.

When they arrived at the villa, everything was calm. Apparently, Andrea was not there either. It was 8 in the morning, as indicated by the Grand Clock in the living room. Susan furrowed her brow. Arturo should already be at the office, but he was there, ruining her life. But then the memory of what he had done to her last night made her feel guilty. Despite everything, she had been intimate with someone else, and that caused her beautiful green eyes to fill with tears. Honestly, she felt unworthy of being there after what had happened. She is a married woman, and she had indeed committed adultery. The more she thinks about it, the worse she feels.

"Go take a shower," Arturo's voice snapped Susan out of her agonizing thoughts, and she obeyed, entering the room and heading straight to the bathroom.

"Susan, Mom always told you to be loyal when you have a commitment," she murmured to herself as water droplets fell on her body. Then she allowed herself to cry. She doesn't deny feeling disgusted with herself, but how did she end up in this situation?

FLASHBACK

"Are you drinking because Arturo danced with Gabriela? And that's why you're drinking as if the alcohol was going to disappear." Daniela's voice resonated clearly in her thoughts.

Susan fell to the bathroom floor, asking herself the same question. Was it because of them that she drank excessively? No, it can't be. She and Arturo are only spouses by contract, and even though they were intimate, it doesn't guarantee feelings. She had been intimate with someone else whom she doesn't even know; therefore, there are no emotions involved, even if it makes her feel like a traitor.
