Episode 11

"What happened to you?" Before Arturo reached her, Susan had fainted. The woman was completely beaten, showing signs of having been dragged. Of course, the man did not let her fall; he carried her in his arms and took her to the room he had in his office. After that, he called his assistant, who was already standing at the door. No one would be calm knowing that the President's wife was in such a state.

"Call a doctor immediately," Arturo roared, appearing anxious while maintaining his composure.

"The doctor is already on his way, sir. I took the liberty of calling him," the assistant replied.

"You will get your salary for this month back. Show him in immediately," Arturo instructed before turning back to Susan, observing her closely. He was nearly about to caress her face but chose to keep his hands away. Right then, the door opened once again.

"Sir, the doctor has arrived," the assistant announced, accompanied by a man.

"You may leave," the woman exited, leaving Arturo alone with the doctor.

"An ambulance is downstairs in case a transfer is needed, in case there are any medical expenses," the doctor began, but Susan let out a cry of pain, despite having scratches and bruises on her forehead. She was also sweating.

"What's happening, ma'am?" The doctor noticed Susan clutching her abdomen. Arturo received an important phone call, which he ignored.

"What's happening to her?" His voice sounded slightly anxious.

"Please wait outside. I'll attend to her," the doctor kindly suggested.

"She's my wife. I've witnessed everything," Arturo grumbled, visibly annoyed. The doctor did not protest, assuming Arturo might be jealous. Even with the bruises, Susan still looked beautiful.

Considering that Susan was now under the care of a doctor, Arturo left the room, deciding to call someone. The call was answered before the third ring.

"Find out what happened at the Grande household," Arturo's voice was chilling. The person on the other end complied with the order, and without saying anything else, Arturo ended the call. He stood by the window, observing the big city, when another call came through. Recognizing the caller, he answered.

"Shall I join you at the company for lunch?" Gabriela's sweet voice came through. Arturo glanced at the door of the room where Susan was being attended to before giving his response.

"I'll pick you up. Wait for me at your home," Arturo hung up, checked his watch; it was indeed time to go. But before leaving for his appointment, he went to the room.

"Sir, I'll have to transfer her to the hospital. Your wife was poisoned," the doctor informed Arturo. He didn't show any significant changes in his expression upon hearing these words. He simply nodded, which seemed oddly peculiar to the doctor, who did not inform him of anything further.

"Very well, do as you please with her," Arturo left his office, gave some instructions to his assistant and left the company.

Two hours later, he arrived at the hospital where Susan had been transferred. But before he could proceed to his wife's room, a strong blow landed on his flawless face. The area where they were was private, and Arturo showed his fury in his eyes after receiving the punch, but even more so upon realizing who had delivered it.

"What the hell is wrong with you?" The man grabbed Daniela by the arm.

"You're an idiot! While Susan is here, you are rolling around with Gabriela because you won't give her a divorce, grow a backbone and let her go. Your great love has returned, right? So give Susan the divorce," the young woman was furious, naturally hurt to see her best friend in such conditions.

"You know you're the first person to dare to hit Arturo Lacronte," the man was furious, and Daniela knows she could die at the hands of this man, but she couldn't care less.

"I don't give a damn who the hell you are, Susan is like a sister to me, and if you harm her, you'll have to deal with me because she's too good to fall into the hands of a beast like you. And you better take care of your beloved, because if I find out that all of this had something to do with her..."

"You can shut up," Daniela became even more enraged upon hearing that Arturo was willing to defend Gabriela.

"Mr. Lacronte," the doctor came out at that very moment, interrupting the war of deadly glares, although Arturo will deal with Daniela in a different way.

"What's wrong with her?" Before the doctor could respond, Daniela bumped into Arturo's shoulder.

"His wife was brutally beaten, but there aren't any serious injuries from the blows, no internal fractures. However, regarding the poison, well, we conducted all the necessary tests and discovered that she ingested two pills, and the consequences..." The doctor paused before giving his diagnosis, Daniela was also staring at him intently, not to mention Arturo's intense gaze that made the doctor uneasy.

"Speak up for God's sake," the man snapped, no longer willing to tolerate this.

"The poison damaged her uterus, and she can't get pregnant," Daniela felt like the air had been sucked out of her lungs, her face turned pale, and her hands trembled upon hearing that.

"What did you just say?" Arturo furrowed his eyebrows tightly, his face once again showing no emotion, but there was a strange glimmer in his eyes.

"His wife can't get pregnant," the doctor feared Arturo's reaction, but the man simply turned around, while Daniela remained frozen in her place like a statue.
