Robert is silent, looking at her seeming sad. He asks her to come closer, and Grace sits on the side of his bed. He touches her hair and says:
"Did you think I would forget about you, beautiful? I would never forget the night we had, your scent, and your audacity in paying for the hotel room we spent the night in. I just don't understand what you're doing here, how you found me?"
Grace doesn't know where to begin, but Edgar appears with a wheelchair and says:
"She's your wife, Mr. Robert."
"Wife? What kind of accident did I have? I don't remember getting married,” he says, looking at Grace.
Edgar tells Robert everything as he looks at his wife. She is embarrassed but happy to see him awake.
"So, you became my wife, beautiful. Finally, I know your name, Grace. I'm sorry you married me, but if I had been awake, I wouldn't have gotten married. It's not how I want to have a relationship; it wasn’t the kind of marriage I wanted for my life."
"I'm sorry, Robert. I didn't plan this kind of marriage either, but your grandfather made a proposal, and at that moment, my family was bankrupt. I needed to help them. Your grandfather made an agreement with me to stay married to you for two years, and I intend to keep the promise I made to him, but mainly because I'm not with you because of an agreement. I love you, and even if you don't feel anything for me, I can't change how I feel about you," she says while holding his hand.
"Grace, you are a beautiful woman. I don't intend to hurt you. I just want you to know that I'm not good at this."
She looks at him confused and asks:
"At what? Being married to me or having feelings?"
"Both. I confess I wasn't expecting to wake up from a coma married, especially to the last woman I spent the night with, but that doesn't mean I don't want this. I just need to process all this information, but I don't want to hurt you. I need to be honest with you, I'm a cold man when it comes to love. What we had was spontaneous, and I don't regret it, but I can't reciprocate right now by saying I love you too because I would be lying, and that’s something I won’t do just to please you by saying what you want to hear. But of course, I feel something for you, that our night was not only for our personal satisfaction. You are different from all the women I've been with, and I confess I'm happy with my grandfather's choice. At least he knew how to choose a wife who intrigues me so much. Now, Edgar, are you afraid I'm going to fall? Don't you think I've been in bed long enough, and you still want to put me in a wheelchair?” he asks, not knowing that he lost the movement in his legs because of the accident.
"Sir, I, I..." the butler stammers, not knowing how to tell him.
Grace hugs Robert then kisses him warmly. He touches her waist and returns the kiss and then says:
"Because of the accident, you ended up losing the movement in your legs, but I found the best physiotherapist to stimulate your lower limbs. Soon you will be able to get the movement back."
"Beautiful, I'm not a child. Do you think I don't know what's going on? Call the doctor right now. I'm not a child who can believe false words of healing, you understand me?" he says coldly, looking at Grace, causing her to leave the room sad.
"Sir, please calm down. Grace has been in this room for months, she hasn't left your side, she certainly loves you. Don't be rude to the only person who has dedicated herself totally to you and defended you from everyone. She was the one who denied the press about rumors that you were dead, she was the one who comforted your grandfather in those months that you were in a coma and she faced everyone who threw insults at you. If you can't be grateful for the woman who loves you and protects you with all her might, you don't deserve her,” Edgar says, leaving him alone.
"Edgar! Edgar! Where are you going? I told you to call the doctor," Robert says, seeing his butler leave.
The doctor comes in and explains that he is paraplegic but thanks to his wife, who sought out the best physiotherapist in the country, he could have hope of walking again one day, but it would take time. Even if it wasn't a sure thing, it was better than having no chance of walking again.
Robert asks the doctor to call his wife, and Grace comes into the room irritated and says:
"Look, just because I said I love you doesn't stop me from being honest with you, and right now I want to strangle you, Robert. You don't know how hard it was for me to see the man I love in a coma. If you really don't want to hurt me, you are failing. I can very well hate you quickly, just as love came like a hurricane, leaving me intensely sad not knowing if I could hear you, feel your touch and your gaze again.”
"Are you done, my dear beautiful wife?"
"No! You need to stop it. If you are a cold man, continue to be ice, but not with me, I will not allow you to be rude and mean to your wife."
Robert pulls her by the arm, kissing her hard and looks into her eyes, saying:
"I'm sorry beautiful, thank you for staying by my side, even knowing that I might not wake up, or even never walk again."
"Don't worry about that. You're a handsome, sexy man, and you kiss very well. What matters is that you're here, alive, by my side," she says with a smile on her face.
"I need you to help me in the shower, I have to get out, I need to find out what caused this accident, since my pilot has always been careful. I also need you to call my assistant, ask Edgar for my cell phone."
"Robert, about your assistant, I'm so sorry, but everyone who was on the plane with you didn't make it, and I'm not sure yet, but I have reason to believe the accident was intentional."
He looked at Grace with a sad expression. His assistant wasn't just an employee, he was his best friend. Robert, despite being a cold man, had great admiration for his friend. At that moment, he asked to be alone. As soon as Grace left, he clenched his fists and cried over the death of his best friend.
