Episode 5

Two days had passed since Robert's plane crash, and his grandfather decided that his grandson would stay home with all the necessary equipment, a doctor, and nurses on duty at the mansion.

Martin had great love for his grandson. Robert's parents died in a robbery when he and his brother were young. Martin, already a widower, had to deal with two children alone. Although he loved both grandsons, Robert was the one he admired the most, the one who filled him with pride.

The press, gossip companies, and magazines only reported that his grandson was dead. Martin was furious about this, so he thought of some way to end the rumors. Despite his grandson being in a vegetative state, he was not dead, and that irritated Martin deeply.

The butler appears with a drink for his employer, and Martin says:

"Edgar, do you believe Robert will wake up?"

"Sir, there is still hope. What do you believe?"

"I believe that one day, when we least expect it, he will open his eyes. That's what I want to believe," Martin said, then drank his Whisky in one gulp.

"Then that is what you must believe, sir. Don't worry about what people think or believe. No one in the press knows that he is in a coma; everyone thinks he is dead. By the way, you were very kind to give the families of those who died in the accident a monthly income and to express your solidarity with them, going to each one's funeral. You have always had a good heart."

"But I'm tired of seeing this news; I need to do something."

"Do you want to buy all the companies, Grandpa? Or do you want me to destroy them?" Rodrigo, Robert's younger brother, entered, asking.

"No, Rodrigo, I don't want to destroy the companies, but I will make them all deny this fake news. Your brother is not dead," Martin said.

"Sir, if I may say so, news only ceases to be news when another arises. Wouldn't it be better to give them another reason so they can spread other information?" the butler said.

"Maybe I could say that I'm in charge of the company, Grandpa, and that Robert just took a vacation," Rodrigo said, interested in becoming the CEO of Tec-Ham.

"No, Rodrigo, Robert is the CEO. I will take care of everything until he comes out of the coma, but I already know what news I will give the press so they can stop talking about my grandson being dead. Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm going to see Robert."

Martin goes to his grandson's room, which looked more like a hospital room, full of equipment and very well sanitized. He touches his grandson's hand and says:

"You were always the strongest in the family. You comforted me when I was the one who should have given comfort in the death of your parents. So I need you to wake up, Robert. Don't give up, be strong, they are commenting on your death, but I won't let them say that about you, I know you will show everyone that you are alive, I have a plan for them to stop writing and talking about this fake news."

His grandfather cried and then left the room and went to sleep. The next day, he would return to the Tec-Ham company to take care of everything until his grandson's return.

Rodrigo entered the room, and the butler, who was talking to the male nurse, looked at Robert's brother, who soon left.

"Don't ever let Robert be alone. If the doctor or you and the other nurse need to leave, let me know before. Only leave if I'm here, do you understand?" the butler said.

"Yes, don't worry, Mr. Edgar. I won't leave Mr. Robert alone," the nurse said, a little confused, since inside the mansion, only the family was present, and no employee other than the butler entered Robert's room.

Edgar was a very intelligent man and noticed how Rodrigo felt envious of his brother. The grandfather couldn't see it because he didn't expect his youngest grandson to be capable of doing something to his brother, but the butler observed everything and knew what Rodrigo would be capable of doing since he was very envious of his brother.

The next day...

Martin arrives at the TEC-Ham company and is greeted by reporters and photographers, asking if he already knew who the successor would be with the death of the former CEO.

He gets furious and shouts:

"Are you crazy? Did you see any funeral for my grandson? Did you see him buried? Robert is not dead, he is absent due to his wedding."

"So Robert is getting married? Is he alive? Where's his fiancee?" The reporters peppered Martin with questions.

"You will meet her soon, now deny this news that my grandson is dead, he did not die" Martin said, then enters the company.

Robert's secretary was already waiting for him, and then she says:

"Sir, welcome back to the company. I hope your grandson will be back soon. I know what the press is saying is false rumors."

"Thank you, Lola, at least you don't believe these rumors. It's no wonder Robert wanted you as his secretary; you're a very intelligent woman."

"Thank you, sir. There is a woman and a gentleman waiting for you. They weren't scheduled, but she insisted that Robert would see her today, so I ended up letting them in."

"Alright Lola, I'll see them now."

Inside the room, Grace and her father were waiting, then Gregory said:

"Honey, don't say anything, let me talk to him, okay?"

"Dad, don't worry, I'm not here to harm you, sir, but to convince him to help us," Grace said, holding her father's hand.

"Good morning, my name is Martin, and you are?" Robert's grandfather spoke as he approached them.

Gregory introduced himself and so did Grace. Then the three sat down and soon informed the reason for being there.

"Miss Grace, can I ask you a question?" Martin asked.

"Of course, Mr. Graham," she said, shortly after looking at her father.

Martin gets up and asks:

"Are you single, miss?"

"I don't know why you're asking, but yes, I'm single," she said, a little confused by his interest in knowing about her.

"Look, I'm not interested in the shares, I want the company to stay in your name and I'll pay for everything. I'll leave the company in such a way that even if I wanted to bankrupt it, I couldn't, that is, you would prosper and in addition to getting out of the red, you would be above the other companies, except for Tec-Ham," Martin said, with a plan in mind.

"Wow, Mr. Martin, I can see that you have a good heart, but I know that you must have some condition, since you wouldn't do this out of charity. What do you want?" Grace spoke before her father could say anything.

"You are a beautiful and intelligent woman, I have no doubt about that, I just want you to marry my grandson. I'm not talking about an ordinary marriage, just a marriage contract, that's what I need right now."

Grace had no choice, she didn't want her father to lose the company, and the proposal was everything they needed at that moment.

Grace's father wasn't happy with the condition, but he looked at his daughter as if anxious and distressed for an answer from her.

"Alright, Mr. Martin, as long as you fulfill everything you promised me, I'll marry your grandson by contract."

She accepted that deal, but her heart was troubled. Having to marry an unknown man to save her family's company was a sacrifice only a daughter who loved her parents would make, a choice she hadn't imagined, but one that would change her entire life.
