At night during dinner, everyone was stunned to see Sean being polite. Greeting everyone with a bow of the head and a smile on his lips.
"Good evening Grandma, Grandpa, Dad, Uncle, Rilly," Sean greeted.
He even sat alone, not ordering Ajeng as usual.
Ajeng smiled, because Sean really kept his promise to be nice to everyone.
"Sean, are you feeling unwell, dear?" Granny Putri asked.
"No, I am in very good condition."
"Let Granny touch your forehead."
Sean got up from his chair and walked towards Granny, standing and letting Granny Putri check his forehead.
Everyone was increasingly surprised to see Sean being obedient like that. When has he ever listened when asked to do this and that?
Very suspicious. Rilly thought.
Dinner went on without hearing the clinking of Sean's plate and spoon. The boy even ate vegetables that he had avoided all this time.
Reza stared at his son intensely and then at Ajeng.
Clearly, Sean wouldn't have changed so drastically if it weren't for Ajeng's influence. Something he needed to straighten out before leaving town for 3 days the next day.
Reza felt anxious if Sean suddenly changed like that, if Sean remained naughty, he would be fine.
"Ajeng, after dinner, meet me in the study," Reza said, speaking in a cold voice with a flat face.
Ajeng almost choked on her own food when she heard that, she had always joined the family for dinner from the start, because Sean had to be accompanied.
"A-Alright, Pa," Ajeng stuttered. The cold look always made her afraid and nervous.
Although Uncle Ryan, Rilly, Granny, and Grandpa are very kind, why does Papa Reza look so mean. Ajeng thought as she bowed awkwardly and continued eating her food.
After dinner, Ajeng went to see Reza. While Sean waited for Ajeng to sit in the living room, spending time with Granny and Grandpa.
"Sit down," Reza said once they entered the study.
Ajeng obeyed, they sat facing each other with the table as a barrier.
"What's wrong, Pa? Did I make a mistake?" Ajeng asked softly.
"When we're alone like this, you don't need to call me 'papa,' just call me 'Sir.'"
"But Granny Putri said it has to be 'Pa' so it becomes a habit."
Reza fell silent.
A few weeks ago, Granny Putri did indeed say that to Ajeng.
"Alright, it's up to you. Now tell me, why did Sean suddenly become so obedient? Did you plan something?"
Boom! Ajeng's heart pounded, blinking repeatedly out of nervousness.
Before she knew it, Ajeng felt caught. Her palms were sweaty with cold sweat. And now she felt very confused about what to do, admit all the agreements with Sean or cover them up tightly.
Should I confess? she thought.
But what came out of her mouth was the opposite.
"N-No, Pa, we didn't plan anything, Se-Sean is just a good kid," Ajeng replied.
Astaghfirullah, why did I lie?! You're sinning Jeng! Sinning!!
"Tomorrow I will be going out of town for 3 days, I hope you can watch over Sean well and not make any trouble. Understand?"
"Yes, Pa," Ajeng replied resignedly.
When she left the room, Ajeng felt drained, as if half of her soul was gone.
Conflicted, between betraying Papa Reza or betraying Sean.
"Oh Allah, please help Ajeng, ya Allah, what should I do??"
