"Mbak Ajeng! come to the room," Sean called out loudly, breaking Ajeng's reverie as she had been lost in thoughts in front of her father's office for quite some time.
"Sen," Ajeng replied softly.
"Mbak Ajeng, what's wrong? Is dad angry?"
"No."
"Then?"
"I don't know."
Argh!! Sean scratched his head in frustration, then grabbed Ajeng's hand to follow him upstairs to the second floor and towards the room.
Looking at it now, the situation seemed to have reversed, with Sean appearing to be taking care of Ajeng instead of the other way around.
Tonight, they had to plan a mission to meet Mama Mona. That's why Sean hurriedly invited Ajeng into the room.
Sean even locked the door, something he had never done before. Until now, Sean's room door had always been open to anyone at any time.
"Mbak Ajeng, Oma said that dad will be out of town for 3 days starting tomorrow. That's the perfect time for us to meet mom."
"But Sen, I'm scared."
"Don't be scared, Mbak Ajeng. I know mom's house, I know the address, I know the way to get there. You just need to accompany me, you don't need to do anything," the 6-year-old boy asserted. He spoke earnestly, staring into Ajeng's eyes very seriously.
Ajeng always felt that Sean had a much more mature mindset than his age.
At this age, Sean should only know how to play, but apparently not. Sean could even come up with a plan to execute a mission.
Ajeng didn't know that Sean was a genius.
"Shouldn't we just ask Oma for permission?" Ajeng suggested, showing her deep concern. No matter how well-planned Sean's mission was, she was still a little child.
"No, Oma Putri and the others will never allow me to meet Mama. I miss mom a lot, Mbak Ajeng," Sean said softly, knowing that Ajeng was hesitant. That's why he was now showing his sadness.
Knowing that Ajeng had a tender heart, she wouldn't be able to see him crying.
"Shh, don't cry Sen, okay, I'll accompany you. I'll make sure you meet mom."
Sean then hugged Ajeng tightly.
And Ajeng reciprocated, stroking Sean's head with affection.
That night, they both slept hugging each other.
Sean repeatedly said that he missed his mother a lot.
Ajeng just tried to understand that, not asking why Sean's parents had separated.
She felt she had no right to know that. Her only duty was to take care of Sean.
Morning came.
Last night, Sean and Ajeng had planned everything carefully.
After school, they would go straight to Mama Mona's apartment without using Sean's car, but taking a taxi instead.
Sean acted normal during breakfast, consistent with his newfound good behavior.
Ajeng, on the other hand, had no appetite at all, taking only one bite of food and feeling nauseous.
Oma Putri had already asked if Ajeng was sick. But Ajeng shook her head firmly.
"I'm not sick, Oma, I'm very healthy," she replied confidently.
Ajeng's nervousness increased exponentially when Reza drove them to school.
"Ajeng, remember my warning. Don't cause any trouble," Reza said. Sean had already run into the school after bidding farewell to his father.
And now Ajeng was facing Reza alone.
She bit her lower lip repeatedly, anxious.
She felt like she was on the verge of telling Sean's entire plan, but every time she remembered the longing of the child to meet his mother, Ajeng refrained.
Whatever happened later, for now, she just had to think about Sean first.
"O-OK Pa," Ajeng replied obediently, stammering, confused, and afraid.
