Episode 5

"Sen," called Ajeng.

"What?" replied the boy, who finally agreed to be called Sen after a long argument and now both of their clothes were equally dirty.

Ajeng was even quite certain that Sean's clothes wouldn't be wearable after today, given that Sean was wearing a white shirt.

"Do you love Malvin?" asked Ajeng.

"Yes, but he's just my playmate."

"If you really love him, you should let Malvin go, so he can live freely in the wild. Malvin must miss the company of other frogs."

"Is letting go really necessary when you love something?" Sean asked in return, his facial expression turning serious.

Ajeng was puzzled. Sean's words seemed to be about more than just the frog; it was something else entirely, and Ajeng did not understand.

Meanwhile, the handsome boy smiled bitterly. What Ajeng had just said was exactly like the explanation his parents had given him for why they had to separate.

Because mom and dad love you so much, that's why we have to part.

*Hmph! What kind of reason is that?* Sean fumed internally\, though of course he only said it to himself. The pain of his parents' separation was something he harbored alone\, only expressing it through his mischievous behavior.

Without another word, Sean stood up first and left the mud pit, carrying Malvin with him.

"Sen, wait for Sister Ajeng!"

Sean refused to listen.

"Sen!"

The boy continued walking swiftly, indifferent to his dirty body, and headed into the house.

Later in the evening, after dinner.

Sean went straight to his room. Ajeng accompanied him, planning to stay until the boy fell asleep.

Ajeng looked at Sean's school schedule on his study table, preparing everything her foster son would need.

As Ajeng glanced at Sean sitting on his bed, the boy appeared to be looking towards the door.

Three times Ajeng looked and each time she found Sean staring at that door.

As if waiting for someone.

"The clever rabbit," said Ajeng, trying to break Sean's reverie by reading the title of a storybook in her hands.

Ajeng wouldn't ask why Sean was looking towards the door; she would do whatever it took for him to forget all his sadness.

"Once upon a time..."

"Sister Ajeng! I didn't ask for a story, why are you reading that book!"

"I'm not reading the story for Sen, I'm reading it for myself."

Sean glared, "But it's bothering me!"

"Yes, yes, sorry. So what do you want?"

"Get out of my room, Sister Ajeng!"

Ajeng gave a small smile and nodded.

"Alright, Sister Ajeng will leave."

With that, Ajeng walked towards the door, opened it wide, and stepped out.

But Ajeng didn't truly leave; she stood beside the door, and Sean could still see her.

This infuriated Sean even more. His face filled with irritation, he climbed down from the bed and briskly closed the door with force.

SLAM!

"Good heavens," Ajeng exclaimed, clutching her chest which was racing from the shock.

She was at a loss for words, deeply saddened by Sean's behavior towards her.

Ajeng felt like crying.

"Be patient, Jeng, be patient, seek forgiveness," she told herself, speaking out loud to stay calm.

"Yes, you must be patient," said Ryan, managing to startle Ajeng once again.

"Mr. Ryan..."

"Uncle."
