Sifa was truly astonished by the recent events. She looked at Vin with sharp, angry eyes, blaming the cascading crash before them on Vin's sudden hijacking of the steering wheel. Sifa believed that without Vin's reckless intervention, the accident could have been averted.
"Look at what you've done. You've turned everything into chaos. Because of you, there's been a crash, and you nearly killed me too," Sifa rebuked, trembling from the aftermath of the accident. Thankfully, both Sifa and Vin had escaped serious injury, having managed to evade the multiple collisions.
"I didn't cause their crash, Sifa. I was just trying to steer us clear of that dump truck. Didn't you see it?" Vin replied, trying to defend himself. Yet, Sifa remained unconvinced, given that her car was also caught in the wreck.
On the road lay dozens of mangled vehicles resulting from the pile-up, many occupants suffering grievous injuries. Those who could extricate themselves from their cars were strewn about the roadway, awaiting urgent medical aid.
Sifa stepped out of the car, gaping in disbelief at the sight in front of her—the toll of the accident was immense. Some lay lifeless on the ground.
Worse, many onlookers stopped not to help but to take photos to disseminate through the media, apathetic to the suffering.
One woman was weeping, imploring help from the front of her crushed car.
"Please save my daughter, anyone please, she's trapped inside," she cried out, disregarding the blood streaming down her temple.
Standing among the victims, Sifa yelled at the crowd.
"Can't you hear her? Where is your conscience? A woman is begging for her child's life, and you do nothing!" Sifa shouted, to no avail—the onlookers merely murmured among themselves, too fearful to approach.
Nearby, Vin finally emerged from the car and stood not far from Sifa.
"Are you deaf too? See that woman, her daughter's trapped. You caused this, you have to save her, or I swear I'll divorce you immediately," Sifa threatened.
Without a word, Vin approached the vehicle and peered through the window, confirming that the girl was indeed trapped and helpless inside.
"The girl is alive; we need to get her out of here before she runs out of air," Vin muttered to himself.
He searched for a metal object to break the car's window, and after several tries, he finally shattered the glass, allowing the door to open.
Vin lifted the girl out of the car and carried her away.
"Meimei..." a voice called out as Ambar approached her daughter, now safe in Vin's arms. Ambar was Meimei's mother.
In the midst of the pandemonium, Vin inadvertently saw a figure, a girl with a wounded body and hollow eyes, walking through the crowd that observed her limp form.
'Who is that girl? How can she be walking through this throng? And why does her face, so pale, resemble the body in my arms?' Vin wondered silently, observing her closely.
"Uncle, please save me," the ethereal girl spoke to Vin.
"Uncle, I don't want to leave mom. I want to stay with her. Help me, uncle, please," she pleaded.
Vin then realized the apparition was the spirit of the girl he was cradling, the soul in distress over her physical body.
"Meimei, wake up, don't leave mom. Come on, wake up," Ambar continued to call for her daughter and shook her, but there was no movement.
Medical teams and police soon arrived to assist the scattered victims.
Amber begged the doctors to check her daughter, hoping she might still be saved.
After examination, the medical team simply shook their heads to indicate that the girl was gone.
"No, my daughter is not dead, she's still alive. Whoever can save my daughter, I swear I'll devote my life to you," Ambar cried in despair.
It was only after Ambar's scream that people, initially preoccupied with their phones, took notice. Murmurs about Ambar's identity and her powerful status in the city, along with her billion-dollar wealth, began to spread.
The girl's soul continued pleading with Vin for salvation.
"Uncle... please... help me..."
Moved by pity, Vin decided to use the only gem he possessed to check the certainty of Meimei's condition.
He placed Meimei's body on the pavement and used his orb of white light to examine her internal injuries.
Vin's touch traced Meimei's body; with his own eyes, he saw the internal damages – severe bruises on her chest had broken several ribs and impacted vital organs.
'*The chances of this girl's survival are slim. Medical intervention has a mere fifteen-percent prospect of saving her\,'* Vin assessed internally\, verifying the severity of Meimei's injuries.
'**Place your hand on the girl's chest\, and I will help retrieve her spirit. Your power is incomplete; you cannot heal her\, but I will tether her soul temporarily until you achieve the next level\,'** the gem commanded\, audible only to Vin.
Without hesitating, Vin placed his hand on Meimei's chest, and the gem traveled through his palm, transforming into a needle piercing her heart directly.
Ambar, witnessing her daughter being handled by Vin, became incensed and suddenly slapped him with force. Sifa, seeing this, was shocked, her eyes wide at the sight of her husband struck by a woman.
Vin, caught off-guard, fell backward, and as his hand left Meimei's body, the gem was pulled out with it.
"What are you doing? I asked for help, not for you to touch her," Ambar accused angrily.
"Touch her? I was trying to help your daughter," Vin replied, irritated.
Amidst the argument, Meimei suddenly coughed and spat out a clot of blood.
Ambar was astounded to find her daughter alive and clutched her tightly.
"Meimei, my girl's alive!" she said, holding her daughter close.
"Quick, get her to a hospital now. Or she really won't make it," Vin directed the medics who were still in disbelief that the girl declared dead was alive.
They rushed Meimei to the hospital.
"I'm sorry for accusing and hitting you," Ambar apologized before heading off with her daughter to the hospital.
Once the medical staff had taken over, the police escorted Vin and Sifa to the station for an inquiry into the accident.
