After undergoing examination at the police station, Vin and Sifa were declared innocent and allowed to go home.
Vin and Sifa quickly left the police station after providing their statements about the pile-up accident.
Upon investigation, the police stated that the cause of the pile-up was due to a dirt bike tire burst, leading the following car to be unable to evade, resulting in a chain-reaction crash due to the proximity of the vehicles.
Far from blaming him, the police commended Vin's action for managing to avoid the pile-up, ultimately keeping them both safe from being crushed to death.
"Now do you believe me, that I wasn't at fault? I even saved you," said Vin, nudging Sifa who had initially blamed him.
"It's still true that you almost got me killed," retorted Sifa while trying to hide her embarrassment for having wrongly accused Vin, her savior, finding it difficult to express her gratitude.
Sifa walked ahead, leaving Vin behind who could only shake his head at Sifa's unchanged behavior, never willing to admit her faults even when she knew she was wrong, much like her mother-in-law who also refused to admit defeat.
"Mr. Vin, wait a moment!" called one of the policemen, approaching Vin who had paused in his tracks.
"What is it, officer? Is there a problem?" asked Vin as he turned around.
"Miss Ambar left this for you to express her thanks. Please accept it," the officer handed a black box from Ambar to Vin as a token of gratitude. Vin took it and offered his thanks.
*'I should visit that girl tomorrow and also express my gratitude to her mother for this gift\,'* mused Vin.
Sifa, already waiting in the car, called out to Vin to hurry as they still needed to head to the hotel where her father's birthday party was to be held.
Before heading to the Sunwai hotel, they went home to change clothes and then quickly set off for the venue where the birthday celebration was taking place.
Vin handed the black box to Sifa as a birthday present for her father.
"What kind of gift is this?" Sifa asked, curious to open it, but Vin was quick to stop her.
"Don't open it now."
Sifa complied and didn't proceed to open it. She put it in her bag before getting out of the car.
At the Sunwai hotel, relatives and Sifa's oldest sister, Kania, along with her husband Firman were already there. They greeted Sifa but ignored Vin standing beside her.
Vin didn't care that he was being disregarded. After all, he was used to it.
"Have you prepared a gift for father? I hope so. Don't embarrass the family by not bringing anything," Kania said with a sneer.
Sifa glanced at Vin and then flashed a smile towards her elder sister. "Don't worry, I have sorted out a gift for father," Sifa replied.
"Good, as long as the gift is expensive enough and valuable to father," commented Kania.
"The value of a gift, should it be determined by its price? Tsk, placing too much value on pride over heartfelt giving," interjected Vin.
"Watch your words, Vin. This is a family event; do not shame us and especially Sifa," Kania warned.
Shortly after, Sifa's second eldest sister Rania arrived with her husband Mateo. They too greeted their youngest sister and ignored Vin as if he were not even there.
The Gultom family had never favored Vin from the beginning due to his humble background, but circumstances compelled them to accept him into the family, unlike Firman and Mateo, who were both entrepreneurs.
"Listen up, Vin, keep your words to yourself or do anything that could embarrass the family and you'll only humiliate yourself," Rania threatened. But Vin ignored her; he didn't care about his sister-in-law's warning.
"Hey Sifa, what gift will you give to your father?" Mateo asked. "Can you show us the gift you got for him?"
Under pressure from her siblings, Sifa reluctantly took out and opened the black box Vin had given her.
Upon opening the box, it was clear it was just some supplements. All the relatives and family laughed at her supposedly modest gift, making Sifa feel both humiliated and ashamed.
"What is this, Vin? Why did you embarrass me in front of my family?" whispered Sifa, already overwhelmed with humiliation.
Seeing Sifa's seemingly inexpensive gift, Mateo quickly asked someone to bring forth the present he planned to give to his father-in-law.
"Please bring my gift and show everyone what I can offer to father-in-law," Mateo said arrogantly.
They unwrapped the gift, revealing an exquisite painting that impressed all attendees and earned Mateo praise as an outstanding son-in-law.
"You see, this is the gift I will give to our father-in-law. This is what a gift should look like, not the cheap one you've brought," Mateo taunted. Vin wanted to respond, but Sifa preempted him.
"It's okay, brother-in-law. Even though simple, at least I can give this to father," Sifa said, though deep down she felt shamed.
"Don't feel bad, Sifa. Although the gift is modest, it's far more useful and needed by father than something that looks extraordinary on the surface but is actually just a fake painting," Vin sneered, directly insulting Mateo in front of everyone.
The crowd was stunned by Vin's declaration, and Mateo felt deeply embarrassed by his brother-in-law's words.
