Episode 11

Vicky's Narrative:

After breakfast, Don Maximo and Domenico headed to Young Max's room. Before officially introducing myself to Max, it was better to convince him since he is so closed off and doesn't want to hear from anyone.

While they talked to him, Matheo, Doña Carlotta, and I decided to take a stroll around the outskirts of the estate.

Max's Narrative:

I woke up as usual, very early. My Nana brought me breakfast, although my temperament isn't very favorable, she has gotten used to my dark humor, as everyone calls it.

Doña Chabela: Good morning, my child. How did you wake up today?

Max: Good morning, Nana. Although I don't understand what's good about it.

Doña Chabela: The fact that you wake up is already synonymous with goodness.

Max: Ugh, the truth is, ever since I've been in this cursed wheelchair, nothing feels good to me.

Nana Chabela: Alright, my child, I'll leave your breakfast here. I'll take my leave.

I went out to the balcony to observe, and then I noticed my mother walking through the house gardens with Miss Dino and a child. Could it be that she is married? Well, why the hell am I even thinking about this? As I observed, my father and Domenico entered the room.

Don Maximo: Good morning, son.

Domenico: Good morning, grumpy Don. How's your mood today?

Max: If you've come to convince me to receive therapy, I've already told you that my decision is an absolute NO.

Domenico: Damn it, Max, don't you realize you're a selfish bastard? You're not the only one suffering. Besides, you're the boss, and we need you at the helm.

Don Maximo: Son, Victoria is our only hope. I know that if you let her help you, she will make you walk again.

Max: Leave me alone. I want the two of you out of my room. I've already told you my decision, and I won't discuss it again. Don't you realize that three years ago I underwent an operation where they promised me I would regain sensations and mobility, and none of that has happened so far? Get out of here, both of you.

Domenico and my father left my room. Honestly, I don't understand their insistence when they already know that I won't get up from this chair again. I've resigned myself, so I don't want to be tormented anymore.

Vicky's Narrative:

After taking a tour of the garden and getting to know the house's facilities, I talked a bit about my life with Doña Carlotta, and she told me a bit about her son Max. As we walked back, Matheo went crazy when he saw the pool. Oh, I forgot, this kid can't see a pool without immediately wanting to get in.

Teo: Wow, mommy, a pool! I want to go in, pretty please!

Vicky: Teo, remember we're in someone else's house.

Teo: Come on, mommy, please. Don Maximo and Doña Carlotta told us to make ourselves at home, so I don't see the problem. Right, granny? (Teo turned to look at Doña Carlotta with those eyes that make it impossible for anyone to say no)

Doña Carlotta: Of course, my child, but under one condition, you must be under adult supervision. I don't want anything to happen to you.

Teo: Yes! And of course, my mommy can accompany me. Right, mommy?

Vicky: Alright, why can't I ever say no to you?

Teo: Maybe because I'm mommy's little prince.

Vicky: Hahaha! You're a clever little devil.

While Matheo ran to the room to get his swimsuit, I stayed talking with Doña Carlotta. Then Don Maximo and Domenico arrived, and from their faces, I quickly deduced that Max didn't accept being attended to by me. Is this man really that stubborn?

Doña Carlotta: How did it go?

Don Maximo: It'll be much harder than we thought.

Domenico: That's right, Max is determined not to want to walk again.

Vicky: Well, I've reviewed his entire medical history, and not all is lost. In these types of patients, the depression of not being able to walk again blocks them so much that they completely close themselves off to even the slightest hope.

Don Maximo: And what advice do you suggest we follow?

Vicky: At the moment, nothing. Before traveling, I prepared this treatment in my laboratory. After reviewing his X-rays, I verified that he has not regained sensitivity due to a fracture in his spine caused by the impact. (I handed Mr. Maximo a bottle with 120 capsules.) To start, Max should take one of these capsules with each meal. This will accelerate the recovery process.

Don Maximo: We'll start today.

Vicky: As for the therapies, don't worry. They told me that Max is quite stubborn. Well, let me tell you that when I set my mind to something, I achieve it. So, Mr. Maximiliano has now become my challenge. Besides, I brought my own artillery. (Everyone looked at me, wanting to know what I meant, and I simply smiled. My artillery is Matheo. There's no person he can't convince, and Don Ogro won't be an exception.)

Doménico: Oh, I really want to see this. I can't miss it, hahaha. You'll see me around more often.

While we were talking, my little Matheo arrived with all his energy and jumped into the pool without hesitation. It took him no more than 10 seconds. We all laughed at the energy of that child.

Narra Max

After my father and Domenico left, they left the door open. That's when the boy I saw earlier with Mother and Miss Dino walked in.

Max: What are you doing here, kid? Weren't you taught not to enter other people's rooms?

Teo: I'm sorry, sir. I was taught, but I got confused with the rooms. By the way, I'm not a kid; my name is Matheo, but everyone calls me Teo. You must be Don Maximo's son!

Max: Yes, that's me. Now, get out of here, kid. (The boy stood in front of me, observing me with crossed arms and a fixed gaze) And he replied.

Teo: Don't you think you're too old to behave like a child? Even I, being five years old, don't behave the way you do.

Max: And don't you think you're too small to talk back to a grown-up, you little devil?

Teo: I'd rather be a little devil than a bitter person like you, so I better leave before bitterness becomes a contagious disease.

(Who does this brat think he is to treat me this way? Doesn't his mother teach him manners?)

Someone knocks on the door; it's my nanny.

Max: Come in!

Nana Chabela: I saw you already met little Teo. I saw him leaving from here. Isn't he adorable?

Max: I honestly don't know what's adorable about him. He even dared to insult me.

Nana Chabela: Well, you must have said something not so nice to him because that boy is delightful. We all adore him, even Domenico, who dislikes children. I saw them happily talking to each other.

Max: Domenico enchanted with a child? Since when can he stand kids?

Nana Chabela: It's because Matheo is a special child. Besides, he knows how to quickly win everyone's hearts.

Max: I see. (I don't believe he'll achieve that with me. I already disliked him from our first encounter.)

Nana Chabela: Are you planning to stay here all day?

Max: I'll go to the library for a while. I want to read and relax there.

Nana Chabela: Would you like me to accompany you?

Max: Please, Nana. But first, help me change.

Nana Chabela: Of course, my son.
