During the flight, Matheo fell asleep, so I took the opportunity to ask Mr. Carlos everything about Maximiliano in order to know what I was getting myself into.
Vicky: Mr. Carlos, sorry to bother you, may I ask you a question?
Carlos: Just Carlos, Miss Santiago. And of course, what would you like to know?
Vicky: Call me Vicky, please. Well, I'd really appreciate it if you could tell me a little bit about Young Maximiliano. What is he like? I need to know certain aspects about him if I am going to be his physiotherapist.
Carlos: As you can understand, Vicky, Young Maximiliano is the only son of the Pierini family. He is quite serious, I've known him since he was a child, and he always shows his colder side. Some say he has a heart of stone because he doesn't easily show his emotions. He used to be outgoing but very focused on his own things. After the accident, his temperament and sense of humor became stronger. Honestly, no one in the house can stand him anymore; he has become arrogant. However, once you get to know him, he is a good guy.
Vicky: From what I read, his accident was an attack.
Carlos: That's right, Vicky. The young man was in Spain finalizing some business. As he was leaving the restaurant, he was intercepted by several vans that shot at him. That day, during the confrontation, several members of his security team and two civilians died.
(I felt a tear running down my face; it was the attack where Papá Cheo and Mamá Chepina died.)
Carlos: Vicky, are you okay?
Vicky: Yes, I'm fine. It's just that those civilians who died were like parents to me.
Carlos: Oh, I'm sorry to hear that, Vicky. But if it brings you any comfort, we are on the hunt for the killers, so their deaths won't go unpunished.
(I couldn't believe how small the world is. So, the man I will be attending to is none other than Zeus' son. Is it destiny or coincidence? That day was marked for me because of everything that happened. A part of me longs to see him again.)
Carlos: Vicky, you should fasten your seatbelt; we are about to land.
Vicky: Thank you, Carlos.
We arrived in Sicily. Truth be told, the journey, although long, was pleasant. Soon, I will meet in person the man who once captivated me. We haven't even arrived yet, and I am already nervous. We disembarked the airplane and hopped into a van that would take us to the Pierini estate.
Carlos: Well, Miss Vicky, we have arrived. Please proceed ahead, I'll take care of unloading your luggage and escorting the boy to his room.
Vicky: Thank you, Carlos, but it's not necessary. I can carry Matheo myself.
Carlos: It's no trouble, don't worry.
We walked towards the house. I'm truly amazed. It was already night, so I couldn't see much, but I can say right away that this place looks like a palace.
We entered the house, and a very charming lady greeted me with a warm hug. Don Carlos was carrying Matheo, so the lady immediately told him which room would be ours.
Doña Isabella (Maximiliano's Nana): Welcome, daughter. We've been waiting for you. My name is Isabella, but you can call me Chabela. Please, go ahead. Carlos will take the child to the room. Don't worry about anything.
Vicky: Thank you, Chabela. My name is Victoria Santiago, but my friends call me Vicky. Please, call me Vicky too.
Doña Isabella: Nice to meet you, Vicky. Come, follow me. Don Maximo and Doña Carlotta are waiting for you in the living room.
We walked through a corridor that led to a huge room where the Pierini couple was waiting for my arrival.
Don Maximo: Dr. Santiago, welcome to our home. Make yourself at home. Let me introduce you. This is my precious wife, Carlotta. Where is little Matheo?
Doña Carlotta: Pleasure to meet you, Dr. Santiago. Thank you for accepting our invitation. By the way, you are very beautiful.
Vicky: Call me Vicky. Thank you, Mrs. Carlotta! You are also a beautiful woman. Don Maximo, Matheo arrived asleep. Mr. Carlos went to leave him in the room assigned to us.
Don Maximo: That's great. I hope you feel comfortable and at home.
Doña Carlotta: Daughter, call me Carlotta. By the way, Maximo spoke highly of you and your son. He told me that you have a beautiful son who shows great intelligence.
Vicky: Yes, Carlotta, I mean Mrs. Carlotta. My son, despite being five years old, is very bright and has a mature way of expressing himself.
Don Maximo: We hope to get along well with Matheo. There haven't been any children in this house since Maximiliano stopped being a child. So, thank you for bringing your son along.
Vicky: I couldn't have left him behind, Don Maximo. Matheo is my life, and I won't go anywhere without him.
Doña Carlotta: Well, daughter, come, I'll take you to your room. Tomorrow, we'll introduce you to my son, Max. I sincerely hope he accepts your help. My son is very stubborn and headstrong, and there will be times when he will treat you poorly. I only ask you to be patient and help him get back on his feet.
Vicky: Don't worry, Carlotta. If your son is stubborn and headstrong, I am just as stubborn and headstrong. I won't leave here without seeing him walk and return to his normal life. It won't be easy, but I assure you it's not an impossible task for me.
Carlotta: I think we'll get along very well, daughter.
(Carlotta led me up a staircase to what would be the second floor where all the rooms were located. She took me to my room, but when I entered, I got scared because I didn't see Matheo in my room.)
Vicky: My son, where is my son?
Doña Carlotta: Don't worry. The room next door used to be my son Max's room when he was a child. As he grew up, he moved to the room facing yours. We assigned the old room to Matheo, considering he's a child.
Vicky: You shouldn't have bothered, Carlotta. My son has always slept with me since he was born. In Spain, he had his own room, but he never liked sleeping alone in his bed. I'll bring him to mine if he wakes up and doesn't see me. He'll get scared. Tomorrow, I'll show him the room, and if he wants to sleep there, I won't object.
Doña Carlotta: That's alright, daughter. It's an excellent idea. Well, I'll leave you to settle in and rest.
Vicky: Thank you!
(I went to the room assigned to Matheo. Undoubtedly, he will love this room. It has everything: a library with a study area, a cinema room, and a game room. I have never raised my son with luxuries; I have taught him to value what he has and earn things. But without a doubt, his favorite place in this house will be the library.)
