Back To Smith's Mansion

AUTHOR'S POV

Leo slammed the hotel room door, jolting Isabella awake. His anger was palpable, and Isabella's heart skipped a beat. She knew that look, that fury. It terrified her.

Leo sat on the sofa, his chest heaving with each ragged breath. Isabella watched him warily, her fear evident on her face.

"Sorry if I woke you," Leo said suddenly, his tone was polite, almost gentle.

Isabella's eyes widened in surprise. "No, I was already awake. I just needed to use the restroom."

Leo strode over to her and scooped her into his arms. "Leo, am I not heavy?" Isabella asked, her voice barely above a whisper.

Leo set her down on the toilet. "What do you mean?" he asked, his brow furrowed.

"I mean, don't I hurt you when you carry me? Since I'm...fat," Isabella stammered, her face flushing.

Leo smirked. "You're like the dumbbells I lift at the gym. You're a feather, Isabella."

Isabella's embarrassment deepened.

"Leo?" Isabella called out, her voice tentative.

"Yes?" Leo replied, his tone neutral.

"Why are you always angry? Didn't your mother give you enough sweets and chocolates when you were young?" Isabella asked, her bravery fleeting as she immediately regretted her words.

Leo's expression transformed, his eyes narrowing. "So, if someone's always angry, it means they didn't get enough sweets as a child?" he repeated, his tone laced with amusement.

Isabella nodded, her heart racing. "Y-yes. My mother always said sweet things cheer a person up. When I was angry, she'd give me something sweet, and I'd feel better."

Leo chuckled, a low, husky sound. "You were a child, Isabella. You didn't know any better. I have grown-up problems, and sweets won't fix them."

Isabella's gaze met Leo's. "But try," she said, her voice barely audible.

Leo's expression softened, and for a fleeting moment, Isabella saw a glimmer of the man she'd once thought she knew.

"go get ready we are going back home" he said. Isabella got up and limped to the bathroom, her body was still sore. She got into the shower and warm water started splashing on her body easing her pain caused by her bruises, she couldn't control her emotions. She was crying. How can a person hit another person so painful. She asked herself why everything is happening to her. She first lost her child and on top of that the person who made her lose her baby hit her , nearly causing her death and that person is her husband who is supposed to love her, protect her and make her feel in his arms. She was done showering and she went to the bedroom where Leo was sitting on the couch busy with work. Isabella was wearing a towel and she was uncomfortable as she wanted to dress but Leo was in the room and she was scared to ask him to leave so she sat on the bed staring at him." Why are you staring at me like that" Leo asked.

" Ieo can you go out I want to get dressed" Isabella was stuttering and Leo's expressions changed," what did you say" he was mad.

" Nothing" Isabella said, she was scared that Leo would hit her if she asks him to leave.

" Good, plus there is nothing to hide I have seen everything already, your body is ugly and no man will be turned on if you show them,it like a rotten pumpkin " Leo said causing pain in Isabella's heart.

How could he say that to her. Isabella wanted to cry but she didn't. She removed a towel, she was left with a pantie and she started applying lotion on her body and after she was done she wore her long baggy dress and her sandals. She tired her huge afro hair in a pun.

After they finished, they went to the car. Leo drove, and when they arrived at the Smith mansion, there were lots of people decorating the house. Leo parked his car, and Isabella got out and went inside. She found Grandma Smith, Mrs. Smith, Cassie, and Maggie in the living room talking.

"Isabella, how are you? Why are you limping?" Maggie asked, and Isabella couldn't answer.

"Did Leo do this to you? For God's sake, you have bruises!" Maggie exclaimed.

"Stop it, Maggie!" Grandma Smith shouted at Maggie. "You know, I used to love you, Isabella. I used to think you were good for Leo, but you're nothing but trouble."

Grandma Smith's words caused Isabella to cry. "Mother, all she knows is to cry. Ask her why she aborted our grandchild," Mrs. Smith said with an evil smile, enjoying every moment of Isabella's torture.

"Mother, I promise I didn't kill my child! I didn't do that; I don't even know what an abortion is!" Isabella sobbed, and Maggie comforted her.

"Isabella, stop lying! You killed my niece or nephew. You know how Leo was crying at the hospital after he found out he lost a child," Cassie said, shocking Isabella. How could he cry when he was the one who killed the baby?

"Grandma, I didn't kill my child, and Cassie, don't pretend like you wanted me to have your brother's child," Isabella said, crying.

"Look, instead of apologizing, you're still rude. Just pack your things and get out of this mansion. I don't want you here," Grandma Smith said, furious.

"No, Mother, don't throw her out now. You'll throw her out after Cassie's wedding. People will ask where Leo's wife is at the wedding, and we don't want the drama on my daughter's wedding," Mrs. Smith said.

"Come, let's go to your room," Maggie said, taking Isabella to her room.

Maggie arrived in her bedroom with a crying Isabella. "Babe, what's wrong with Isabella? Isabella, why are you bruised?" Jonathan asked, getting up from the bed. He fetched his medical kit.

"Isabella, who did this to you?" Jonathan asked, concern etched on his face. Isabella remained silent, overcome with tears.

"Who can do this except your abusive brother?" Maggie muttered. "Isabella, did Leo do this to you?" he asked, gently applying ointment to her wounds. Isabella nodded, and Jonathan's expression darkened with anger.

He stormed out of the room, with Maggie following close behind.
